I was a smoker for 40 years, and dismissed the ecig as pretentious, a feeble attempt at fooling oneself into thinking that it was a lazy solution to smoke cessation. Then I tried one.

Now I have batteries, cartos, attys, mods, DIY juices every darn where, and more cookies on my browser for vaping sites than I care to think about.

OK, so I traded one addiction for another. But this one won't kill me.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the switch! It is indeed a tremendously liberating feeling when you try it and realize just how good a substitute for analogs it really is -- in fact, how much better a substitute it is, not just for the obvious lack of thousands of chemicals and carcinogens, but for its smoothness, throat hit, and flavour, too. It's quite spectacular, and for me at least, the sense of wonder over these things and over never having to buy smokes again hasn't faded.

Now you get to go through the ups and downs of quitting analogs over the next few weeks. (Some significant downs at first, but once your body starts to get over the purge-and-heal phase, huge, huge ups.) Just remember: Stay well hydrated, and if you start feeling like things are going south -- your juice loses flavour, you're hacking up phlegmballs, getting unexpected acne, oily skin, stuff like that -- feel free to ask here. There are many changes your body may go through as it heals itself from years of tobacco abuse, and as irritating or inconvenient as they may get, they're signs that vaping works and you're healing. :) Push through the harder times and there's an amazing tobacco-free world beyond.

And, um ... if, after your tastebuds jump back to life, you feel like a bit of spicy food, do yourself a favour and go easy. Both ends of you may thank you...

Welcome to ECF. Here's a thread that can explain some of these symptoms.

4 full days in and so far so good. Only cheated once on Saturday night and could only finish half an analog. It was quite nasty!

Got a sample pack from Virgin Vapors and I'm liking the 100% VG so far. I got 2 bottles of PG liquid with the kit and can really tell the difference. In fact, just tonight I emptied a tank with a PG and filled it with straight Peppermint Chill from VV and it's quite good. Leaves a nice minty residual flavor on the tongue.

I look forward to the 1 week mark! Pretty good feeling since I've been smoking for 24 years. I must admit it's a little scary, but this forum and my family have been very good to me. And it's also amazing to read the quitting stories of everyone else. Way to go everyone else!! ;)

Thanks to all.

Welcome to ECF. Just keep on browsing all topics here. Just like me there's always something new to learn everyday. :)

This holds true ... well, forever, really. There's always something new. :)

Welcome! The success stories were my favourites threads during the first couple of weeks. Helped keep me motivated and on track. 5 weeks no smokes for me after 23 yrs :)

Last cigarette 16th October, 2011. Forever grateful for the support and advice from ECF.

Congrats on your success! Since you're this far, 5 weeks will turn into 5 months before you know it. :)
