I am so new...

... that my kit hasn't even arrived yet.

I read a discussion elsewhere that intrigued me. Reading the "help for newbies" threads on a forum just confused me. I just clicked on a banner ad and bought the intro kit offered there. I felt searching for cheapest/best would just confuse me further. I got this:

Intro-Vision Kit [VE421] - £17.99 : Vape Escape

and a few 5ml juice samplers. £30.

It liiks like a pretty basic thing and I think I can find cheaper compatible replacement thingies and juice, later.

I can't wait for it to arrive!

Hi Katy, welcome to ECF. Looks like you found a good starter kit. I think it should work for you. Did you got 2 (or more)? That is like a cardinal rule...have backups for your backups. The price looked pretty good, too. Good luck to you!

I just got the one. If I like it, I will order another, plus more of the thingys where the juice goes.

There is also a shop in Oldham should I have an emergency. I think this is a 510-whatever-that-means device, so should be able to mix and match components?

510 is the threaded connector type...it's the industry standard...

Yes any 510 tank or atomizer will fit in the eGo type battery you have coming

Hi

The battery device you ordered is an eGo-type battery. This shows the kind of threading it has. Just ignore the logo picture, it's for people to identify Joyetech. Also, a mini Protank is smaller than a full size one and it's less unwieldy on an eGo. The mini Protank has eGo threading, not 510. The CE4 is a clearomizer similar to the one coming in your kit.

So I can't use the mini nova things in the photo if I want? That ocelot battery has both kinds of threads? What? LOL

I believe the Vivi Nova in the picture is a mini, the full name didn't fit. :) The devices in the picture that go on top are a little outdated, it's just to show examples of what can be used. The product listings on vendor sites will say if it's 510 or eGo threading, but either one will fit on your battery. It was a good choice.

Too much information alert!

There are so many different types of delivery systems available it can truly make your head spin! These are just a few examples:

This is a mini Vivi Nova showing the components of a top coil clearomizer. The wicks draw the liquid in the tank up to the replaceable heating element (head). Vivi Novas are sometimes called “tanks” (because they hold liquid), but operate like any other top coil clearo. The wicks come in various lengths and the heads in different resistances. Vivis fit in the 510 threads.

Other commonly used clearos are CE(insert whatever the latest # is). They don’t have a metal top cap like a Vivi, but use the same wicking system. Some CE*s have replaceable coils, some don’t. CEs screw onto the external “eGo” threading around the outside ring of the battery device. (These are similar to the one you'll get with your kit.) ***Because the wicks are on top and subject to gravity, top coil clearos need to be tipped or twirled periodically to keep the wicks wet.***

Kanger EVOD is another popular choice for beginners. It’s a “BCC” (Bottom Coil Clearo), sort of like a Vivi Nova upside down. The coil is on the bottom. It still has wicks, but they are tiny. The wicks are always in the liquid, so they shouldn't dry out. With a BCC, the replaceable “heads” are screwed into the bottom. The EVOD fits on the eGo threads.

Kanger Protank is also a BCC, but is made of glass (Pyrex) and metal. It screws into the internal 510 threads. The mouthpiece is not removable. It comes with a “vanity” thread cover (cone cover) to make it look more streamlined on an eGo type battery. A mini Protank is smaller and has eGo threading (meaning it fits on the outside threads on the battery), but is otherwise the same. The newer Protanks have removable drip tips (mouthpiece), so you can use different ones.

The EVOD, Protank and mini Protank all that the same replaceable heads.
