I know it's more expensive and not as pretty, but if it's in your budget this battery would likely be a better choice in the long run.

I wish I had seen this conversation before I bought some gear. Chrissie and The Ocelot have given great beginner advice. I started much as you, and have improved my gear a little. I am now using a Vision spinner (variable voltage eGo type battery). It lets me adjust the electricity going to the "thingy" so I get the best combination of flavor and vapor.

For "thingies", I alternate between protank IIs (these hold a full day's supply of juice) and protank II mini's, which hold less, but are lighter weight. Both have glass tanks, so I can use any liquid in them. Some liquids will discolor or crack the plastic tanks in the EVOD and CE's.

You have grasped the essentials for your battery. Any tank or clearomiser or thingy that has either 510 or ego threads will work for you.
