... cigarettes because it motivated me to quit. That was seven months ago!
I stopped using cigarettes on Day One of using my PV and I have now become so sensitive to the smell of tobacco smoke that I have to leave the area where people are smoking (like in smoking area of the local casinos). The smell just makes me nauseous now.
My sense of smell is so acute now that I can smell cigarette smoke on someone's clothes. However, I do not bug or berate people who are smokers -- since I was one for years -- and I know they have to make the decision to quit tobacco for themselves.
I will never go back to cigarette smoking since a PV is infinitely more enjoyable and less dangerous. However, I do note that I am using my PV less and less and reducing the nicotine level of my e-juice so I believe it is just a matter of time until my nicotine addiction is kicked completely.
I may, depending on how I feel about it, just continue vaping when I no longer need nicotine and use 0mg nicotine juices in the future. At that point it will be all about the wonderful flavors you can get with the e-juices and that by itself is nice -- vaping while having one's coffee or tea, or just relaxing.
But the main thing is that tobacco is gone from my life and after seven months I feel terrific.
My doctor encouraged me to quit last July 2010 and I did finally on October 17, 2010. When I meet with her in July 2011 I will be proud to report that I successfully quit smoking.
Oh -- and did I save money?!
My cigs (American Spirit, menthol lights) cost me $50 a carton (Idaho) which was running me four cartons a month or $200 a month. Sometimes a fifth carton making it $250 for the month.
That is long gone. After my initial outlay for several batteries, atomizers, cartridges, chargers, my only cost now is e-juice which I get in 120ml bottles at a reasonable price. And, 120ml lasts a LONG time.
Also, my house doesn't stink of tobacco smoke, nor my car, nor my clothes. My sense of smell and sense of taste have returned to normal and I don't pant like an overheated dog when I go up a flight of stairs.
I am very, very pleased.
