I am new to e cigarettes and even though I am absolutely loving my experience so far I feel like it's just leading me to worse addiction. I know e cigarettes are pretty safe but before them I was a pack a day marlboro red smoker now I'm vaping 3ml of 24mg juice a day. Which is awesome except I haven't quit cigarettes and in fact I switched too unfiltered american spirits. I feel like I need nicotine in my system at ALL times of the day. When I'm inside I vape (non smoking house) and when I'm outside I smoke. It's just constant nicotine now. This is coming from someone who od'd on ricin a few weeks back so health isn't really my priority it's just shocking how much I need nicotine now. I know I need to quit analogues but with e cigs it's just boosting my need. I smoke a cig, get a minor buzz or whatever and then top it off with chain vaping then rinse and repeat. :x

Anyone else experience this?

It can take time to adjust but you will eventually find yourself cutting back on analogs. Swedish snus is something you can try to replace analogs with till you adjust. It helps get a fast fix when ecigarette aren't quite enough.
Also try having a bit of higher nic juice on hand. For example i vape 12 most of the day but when I really need a boost i have a bit of 16-18 mg.

Yeah I'll trust it's getting better. At least I'm not smoking a pack a day :)

It's different for different people, but I vaped much more when I first started than I do now (20 months later). You also have to realize that it's not just the nicotine in cigarettes that cause the dependency, but the MAOIs and other chemicals which reinforce the nicotine effects that keep you coming back. It may take some time for you to be able to switch complete over to vaping, and you should do so at a pace which is best for you.

Just remember: It's not about the cigarettes you still smoke, but rather the ones you don't.

Very true! I was just a little worried that night but it's better than cigarettes and I enjoy it so I shouldn't complain. And boy I haven't heard maoi's since my... well you know but I guess that makes sense that they would amplify nicotine as well

It might just be my experience, or useless opinion, but I think when you decide to go analog free, it's important the nic strength in your juice be high enough to satisfy your cravings. I was smoking almost a pack of day of marlboro lights for the last 17 years. I was recommended a 16 juice and it worked for me. I laid down smokes all at one time and went full on protank2. I'm heading into my 3rd week with NO DESIRE whatsoever to return to smokes. So I think it's important you WANT to quit and stick to it. You CAN do it. I walk by someone smoking and I actually do not want one. Thats a first for me. Before I could be sitting in traffic and smell someone smoking, and I'd reach for me instantly. Even if I just crushed one. Stay on the forum, call it what you want, but this place IS a semi support group and it's working for me. I spend lots of time reading here, watching reviews and learning about equipment. (Okay, all the cool shiny toys) I dont care what I have to spend on crap, as long as I dont return to cigs. Good luck, stay strong and stay close to this forum. It will help you through the rough patches. VAPE ON!

I'll agree with nostinkies about this being a place for support. I find myself here alot just to keep me among other vaporites so I don't feel alone in this as an ex-smoker, not a hobbiest.

I'll be there with you DetraMental. Been almost 28 hrs since I had an analog and I can't tell you how amazed I am, NOT to be freaking out and trying to rip someone's head off! I know, 28 hrs doesn't sound like much. But it is because I feel fine! My brain keeps telling me I want a smoke, so when it does, I vape instead. I have yet to come to terms with the fact that I feel fine. In my mind, I shouldn't feel fine, I should be climbing the walls! I'm dumbstruck! 2+ PAD for 42+ yrs. Still can't believe I'm not smoking and I'm good with it! :)

Hang in there Greenblobo9! It'll get better! :)

When I first quit analogs I found two flavors I really enjoyed - Banana Nut Bread & Atomic Fireball, both at 24mg and started vaping like crazy. I bought four 30ml bottles on a Monday and by Friday the Banana Nut Bread was almost gone, and the Atomic Fireball was almost half gone. I was about 8 to 10ml a day before I had no cravings for cigarettes. 13 days later I haven't had a single analog. Prior to that I was at 1 & 1/2 pad of camel filters. Instead of reaching for an analog, I'd just chain vape almost to the point of being dizzy, drink about 2 glasses of water and I'd be okay. It may be that even though you're at 24mg that you may need to go to 36 to kick it.

13 days without an analog at 24mg and I feel that I'm close to dropping down a bit on the mg.

Keep at it and you'll get there!

I know what you mean, I still have the occasional cigarette and I'm vaping. I realized my mistake in lowering my nic mg because the throat hit on 60/40 was too much. Now I'm ordering higher nic to level it out and see how that works. I started at 12 then went to 9 but the answer was the pg/vg so I can't vape enough when I crave. Stay with it, even on 9mg I've had days where I only have 2 cigs which is good for me.

I just started last Saturday, I got my battery in the mail, already had the tank, birthday gift from my brother, had my last smoke reading the directions, and away I went, 18mg juice, only a few really bad cravings other then that been pretty good.
I have to refill my mini pro tank 3 or 4 times a day, so 3 to 4.5 I think ml a day, not gonna complain.
Keep with it, it will happen....
I started when I was 15, in '85, quit in '07, started again in 11, I rolled my own, and smoked a pack to pack and a half a day...

... erm... OP, you say you overdosed on Ricin, is that correct? A proper dose, if I am to believe Breaking Bad, will give you flu-like symptoms and kill you within 48-72 hrs. How is it that you are still with us?:?:

I agree. I smoked for 47 years and I tried everything and I mean anything and everything to quit. I picked up an EGO twist and although the first few days I wanted an analog I just kept vaping. I no longer cough or sound like a freight train when I speak. I laughed when I read climbing the walls. Because when I was smoking I would jones so bad for an analog I would pick up anyones .... and smoke it.(Now who hasn't done that?) Those days are gone. It has been 98 days and I am never going back. Hang in there...You will do it!

Hi friend, it's been six full days without a analog. I smoked two packs a day for 25 yesrs! Here is how I made it this far. Every single time I want to smoke I vape instead. I have been really supreme that I'm NOT having withdraws. In fact something amazing has happened in these 6 days. Cigarettes started stinking to me! My husband still smokes in front of me and I really notice how bad it stinks! My smell has now came back to me!! Best advice I can give is whenever you are wanting a smoke just vape instead and you will forget about that cigarette. It REALLY works!! Get some good flavors you really like. I also got the 24 in the nicotine so I'm not doing without and it satisfies me. You might need to start out with the high nicotine to stay comfortable. Then you can lower your dose if you want. I also take my mod with me where ever I go. Even vape while driving. If I used to smoke while driving why not vape while driving? Other people might give you some strange looks but it does not matter what they think. Where ever you used to smoke, vape instead! I got a little car ring case for my mod that holds the mod and a couple of juices for when I go out. So far it's worked great for me! I just wanted so say welcome and hope this helps. This is what's helped me and I was a long time heavy smoker. If you keep vaping you should loose your taste for cigarettes. I know I did. I wish you the best!

I have started vaping 10 days ago. I made a deal with myself : whenever I wanted a smoke, I would vape. If that wasnt enough, only then would I allow myself to have a cigarette. I found that 99% of the time, it was enough and by the time I'd had a few puffs of vape, I would forget I wanted a cigarette. The few times I still wanted one, I had one. Since I only had a couple left when I started vaping, once these were gone, I just smoked whatever remained in the ashtray (I usually leave half an inch on a cigarette), telling myself I could just go out and buy an "emergency pack".

I was suprised to realize that my need for an emergency pack wasn't strong enough to get me out the door. Which was a first - I've been known to get dressed and go out to buy a pack in the middle of the night if I was out of smokes and not sleeping. So I didn't buy it, and after no more than 3 days, I didn't even want a cigarette anymore. Vaping was enough and my brain had started switching the "nicotine fix" reflex from cigarette to vaping.

Now... I don't even want one. I wouldn't take one if someone offered it to me. I can't say what happened in my brain, but that's just how it is. I still crave smoking, but I no longer crave a cigarette.

So maybe you could just do what I did - a deal with yourself. Whenever you want to smoke, vape for a while. Then if you still want the cigarette then by all means, have it. You can also keep your pack out of easy reach, like, leave it in your car when you're at home or out. Conversely, keep your ecig within easy reach at all time. Don't sweat how much you vape just yet.

Now for it to work, I suppose you really have to want to stop, somehow. If you're just vaping to replace cigs when you can't have one because you're inside... it's different.
