I'm learning how to do this also. I had some weird 3.0 + readings on my Magma today too and it turned out to be a twisting post! One of the 2 posts can spin and with the coil attached, I could spin it a tad and it would go from 3.6 down to 2.1- my targeted goal. See if your Magma's posts are stationary. I think I'm going to have to return mine and get another.

Lol more shenanigans with the OPs miss wrapped quote. Looks like I was having build issues. Oh well.:)
Also, I do have a Magma with a dual coil at .8 ohms with a cotton nest. Fortunately, no issues with a spinning post, but I will definitely check mine.

can you put more cotton in there or do you have to start all over "magma" ?

If you mean re wick. I just take the cotton out do a few dry burns, and re wick. Sometimes, I will lightly scrub the coil with a toothbrush while running some sink water over it. Regardless of your method you can certainly re wick without rebuilding your coil. Some people rewick after every flavor change. I certainly don't.

Never hurts to build a new one. Soon there won't be any anxiousness and it will be super easy for you.

And then you'll find yourself wanting to try some more "exotic" builds. maybe something like .0000012 ohm octocoils, with 163 twisted strands of 99 awg kanthal, in the shape of a unicorn running in the clouds. LoL. Well not really , but you get the point I'm sure.

Probably a good price, but honestly if you're having trouble with the jig, You may have more trouble with using drill bits. Can be hard to hold and wrap. Can you change the post sizes on the jig you bought? Maybe post a picture of it. You honestly can go with some cheap drill bits if thats what you want to try. After all you're not drilling with them, you're just wrapping flimsy wire around the end of it. You could try a cheap set of precision screw drivers from dollar store too. Many folks have great results using those. Just look for something like a 1.5, 2, 2.5 in the set. Those are good common sizes to start with.

those that I got to use with now are not even a half inch long,so it's extremely difficult to try to put them on the post working with something that small I also think that I do need to have my leads longer in order to have a straighter coil when I'm putting them through the post I'm going to take a picture of what I have been working with in a few minutes.

I see. That might be tricky for a beginner being so short. I would say you probably would have an easier time with drill bits or screw drivers. I should look into getting one of those myself though. Can't bring myself to spend that much on it though since I could make one on my own.
