I generally set my e-cig on the nightstand when it's time to go to sleep, but there are occaisions when I've awakened to find it rolloing around in the bed beside me because I fell asleep with it in my hand! It's in my hand, now, as I type lol.

This described me to a T! This morning I was feeling guilty about it, but thanks Dougiestyle for making me feel normal! :)

The blankie thing made me laugh.

I am worried about the nic overdose.
There is absolutely no need to worry about a nicotine overdose.

Your body will force you to stop vaping long before you get to overdose status.
You will get nauseous and headachy long before you reach overdose.

It really is impossible to overdose on nicotine unless you drink the juice.
Or soak your fingers for awhile in it, like it was Palmolive.

I vape decently often, but at 1 or 2 puffs instead of a whole cigarette, then wait about the average time i would wait tohave a cigarette and have another puff or two. So I would say as much as it's in my hands it's still less than analog cigarettes would be. I've used it semi-sucessfully to curb my nail biting habbit by "tooting" on it to occupy my hands lol. but it hasn't even been a week yet. Let's see what I'm like 1 month, 6 months, 1 year down the road :)

Hi Shannon - Hopeless here as well. Years back, when I was over-smoking, I made up a rule for myself. I designated the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom as 'Health Rooms.' I swore myself not to smoke in those rooms...no more ciggies to bed. It actually worked. Now that has mostly held over into my vaping. The one exception to that rule is while using tools. If I am doing a repair or something of that nature, I allow indulgence. While I'm a near constant vaper, I still have the Health Rooms' habit.

It depends. There is nothing in ecigs that isn't in real cigs. Nicotine is probably the most dangerous thing in ecigs but you are using none. PG, VG, water, alcohol if any - should all be safe. The dicey part is the flavorings. Most flavorings should be totally safe to vape. But there are some, mainly flavors with butter or custard flavor ingredients that contain diacetyl. Diacetyl is safe to eat but anecdotally not safe to inhale - no studies have been done but diacetyl is in popcorn fake butter flavoring and some guys in a popcorn factory got lung cancer or something and it got blamed on diacetyl. So even though there is only a tiny amount of diacetyl in some flavors, if you want to totally avoid diacetyl you should buy juices from a company that says its flavorings are diacetyl free. I mostly just avoid custardy flavors unless the company says they are diacetyl free.

Go through this thread for names of some diacetyl-free juice companies

This is great information to know. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Here's a post of mine from 12/13/2010:

Can't Stop

I'd just like to say that I've been analog-free since last Tuesday. I actually prefer vaping to smoking now. My only problem-I can't stop. I have a Little Chuck and 2 mega 510s on my desk and a reg. 510 charging right now. Please help, I can't put them down.

Yeah it's pretty bad. I figured I'd be able to drive 2-handed more since I'm not chain smoking while I drive. Nope. Chain vaping while I drive. Chain vaping at home, chain vaping on 15 and 30 lunch breaks at work. I can go for extended periods without a vape and not get irritable like I did when I couldn't get a cig, but If I'm not doing anything better that requires both hands, my ego is in my left hand.
As for nicotine OD, your body processes nicotine in about 20 minutes (I think) so you've got to vape 60mg (2 ml of 30mg, 6ml of 10mg, etc etc) in a 20 minute timespan to actually kill a person, and that's the lower end of the lethal threshold. I always joke: "Yeah, I could OD, if I drank this entire 30ml bottle. But knowing my luck, I'd just throw it up and instead of dying I'd live in agony and end up with $20,000 in hospital bills."

I can't either, and trust me, i can outwit the headache and nausea any day, i ignore those signs, just like i did when i
ignored the morning headaches from smoking. but i did go down to 6mg so i can ignore them easilier, is easilier a word?

Everyone says water water and more water, but i hate water and just drink more coffee, not working, so i guess i'll try to force some water down, in between coffees. oh and isnt it cool that you can still drink coffee with these? i thought for sure i'd have to give up coffee when i quit smoking, those two go hand in hand, but nooooo....its too good to be true, i can do both! yippee!

Meeems I had the exact same fears but with beer! Now if only someone could come up with an ecig equivalent to alcohol that doesn't give you a hang over =)

HAHAHAH.... oh i know, I just quit smoking on my birthday april 6th, and i got smashed on red wine the next night, and i thought for sure i was going to succumb to smokes. but i didnt, not one bit, but that thing was stuck in my mouth like a pacifier the whole nite, and at one point i lost my juice..(because thats what you do when your drunk)..and i'm freakin out...telling everybody to 'stop everything, i lost my juice! find it! , everyone look for my juice!,..it was on the floor under the table...same place i ended up later...heheheh

I've been vaping a few years now, and the thing pretty much NEVER leaves my hand. I do remember getting headaches when I first started, and I hear from many that I've helped switch to vaping that they initially feel like they are od'ing. I'm not entirely sure what to speculate about that....I've definitely reduced my nic consumption as I've gone along, from 36 to 24 to 18, and now I vape 12mg mostly with the odd grab for the 18 when I feel I need it. I'm personally very sure that even in the 24mg range you're getting far less nic than smoking analogs, but that's certainly not coming from any official testing or anything. I generally hear, and remember from my own experience, that the headaches last a few days or weeks and then life as a non-smoker gets awesome. I wonder if the headaches are actually our body telling us it wants more nicotine?! I get the exact same headache if I haven't had a coffee by 11am. Anyway, yes for sure, like my pack o smokes once was, my case of vape stuff goes with me everywhere and I absolutely NEVER forget where I put it down! lol
