Hello fellow Vapers,

I've been vaping for about 6 months now. I started with 24mg kr808 cartomizers. I found the e-Go and started dripping atomizers. I lost the e-Go. My current setup is two 510 Joyetech batteries with LR atomizers and a 4 AA battery NiMH box mod using a LR cartomizer all vaping 36mg juice. I'm sitting here vaping all three at the same time. Well, the two sticks in my mouth at once and then followed up by a pull on the box. I get huge vapor from all three, it's just not enough and is quite an ordeal. Especially when I'm out and about, it's just impossible. Can somebody here tell me what I need in terms of a huge vape/throat hit and maximum nicotine? The funny thing is I wasn't even that heavy a smoker. Well, half to 3/4 pack of Marlboro Reds per day.

Add into the equation that I'm dirt poor at the moment so if I pull the trigger on anything over $50 it has to work without question and satisfy my need. Welcome to my challenge...

Some kind of 6 volt solution with a cigar-type liquid plus TH add-ins seems like what you need to vape. However I can't think of anything that, along with the new atties or cartos you'd need, would come in anywhere near your price range.

An economy 5 volt kit from say Kens Boxmods or Madvapes would be the best choice due to the price constraints. With two sets of batteries and a charger it would maybe come in at about $70, maybe less - not sure. But then you have to choose what end fittings. Some of the cartos around now do monster vapor, with the right liquid they'd fit the bill.

But I think your main problem is not the vapor and nicotine, it's the other WTAs in tobacco that you're missing. I had the same problem at first and the only way I could get over the hump was to make my own DIY WTA liquid (by boiling tobacco in VG) - see the methods in the specific forum for this in DIY E-Liquid. It worked perfectly for me. You can buy that liquid now, it's no longer necessary to DIY it.

However, a better option might be Snus. Get genuine Swedish Snus as there is a huge amount of data that says it's safe. It has to be kept in the fridge, though. Combine a big-hitting vaping system with Snus and you should be done. You might find it advisable to reduce the nicotine in either or both, though, as there is a risk of nic OD with this dual-fuel system even for someone with a very high tolerance like yourself.

Especially, don't use very high nic in the long term as there are probably health implications (cardiac issues). You should be able to get over the hump in a couple of months, though, with luck.

If you're vaping 36mg through LR carto's, and it's still not hitting the spot, I would think about trying snus or possibly the new whole tobacco alkaloid (WTA) e-liquids. Snus is used by many people on here (I am an occasional user) who find they need something extra beyond what's provided by standard e-liquid. That "something extra" is likely to be the alkaloids in tobacco, that are not present in purified nicotine products. Not an expert on this but I think most would recommend Swedish snus over the US made, which can be mail ordered if you can't buy locally. I have read about the WTA e-liquids, but not tried them yet. They are quite expensive, but I understand they can go a long way. Type "whole tobacco alkaloid" into the forum search and you should find relevant threads.

Apart from that I'd strongly recommend against using LR atomizers on 510 batteries. The current draw is far too much for them, and failure of the battery is likely. A better option (thinking as cheap as possible) would be a box mod using an IMR battery. You also have the option of 5v box mods, although this would not be recommended with LR atomizers either (standard resistance atty's or carto's recommended).

As always, great advice from the Papa!

Other alternatives:

  • If you liked the size, shape, and performance of that eGo you lost, you can pick up a Riva-510 kit from Liberty-Flights for $30-36 (depending on battery features, carrying case, and cartomizers or atomizers included). The Riva is the same size and shape as the eGo, but is 750 mAh (to the eGo's 650) and 3.7V (to the eGo's 3.2) ... and it is less expensive.

  • Other than a small fat batt like the eGo or Riva, a mod may be the best way for you to go: either high mAh 3.7V or variable voltage.

  • The most cost-effective high mAh 3.7V tubular mod I know of is the 18650 NoEgo, sold by Jazz CartoPipe for $35 (without batteries or charger). Then pick up an AW IMR 18650 battery and multifunction TR-001 charger (e.g., $9.89 + $11.75 from Super T Manufacturing). [Total mod/battery/charger cost = $56.64 + shipping.] When used with good LR atomizers or cartomizers, it produces an outstanding, high-intensity vape.

  • The least expensive, second-generation VV box mod may be the $55 Smokbox VariCool Mod from SmokTek, recently reviewed by CyberWolf. [Charger and two 14500 batteries = $17.50.] MadVapes' $35 Variable Voltage Box Mod also is a good choice, although it does not incorporate that more advanced, vari-cool technology. Minimum entry price point for tubular VV is $100 (e.g., the Infinity Pro).

Any good atomizer or cartomizer (including the wildly popular Smok Tech Mega Dual Coil cartomizer) should perform well (at whatever intensity you want) on a VV mod. For the fat batts or 3.7V mods, my favorite LR cartomizer is the Smok Tech 1.7 Mega Single Coil, e.g. from Crystal Clear Vaping or SmokTek, although the Boge 2.0 (available from a great many suppliers) also is very highly regarded.
