I didn't know I couldn't smell...

All this time I've been reading these threads with people saying, "hooray, I can smell things again!" and thinking to myself, "whew, glad my smoking never effected my sense of smell like those poor folks." Well, guess what? All this time I have been loading up my apartment with various plug in air fresheners and candles because it seemed like the place always smelled just strange and not very pleasant. Here I am sitting on the couch and the scent of these air fresheners is so overwhelming I just can't stand it. It smells like someone sprayed a gallon of perfume in here! Golly open a window, I'm suffocating in here!

Right after I first quit my husband laughed at me because we were walking in walmart and I walked past the perfumes and had to grab for my asthma inhaler because the smell was so powerful. I had never even noticed the smell before. Isn't it great though to be able to smell its like a whole new world again.

Oh I have lol they stink bad, my son is still struggling to quit. He has a kit but is still back and forth he room is the worst ever.

I haven't a cigarette in 7 days and started to smell things again on the 3rd day. I understand from the guys at work that this may be a liability as a coworker apparently does not bathe often.

However, now I notice my wife's perfume and food tastes different. The chocolate granola bars the kids won't eat smell like cat food, I see why they don't like them. I love blue cheese on crackers but it's almost to bitter to eat now.

We had a small gas leak just this morning and I could smell it right away when I went into the laundry room. Hubby didn't hook the Electrolux gas dryer up correctly yesterday. I'm not sure if my smell senses would have picked up the leak. I can smell everything now and it seems more of the bad smells than the good smells.

I got home from church today to find that the house smelled icky... I immediately looked at my bf who still smokes. Turns out he had a cig on the porch with the front door OPEN....my nose is getting sensitive. I used to reek of cigarettes, Im glad I dont anymore.

I spent my morning jamming fabic softener dryer sheets in every nook and cranny of my suv...the things reeks like cigerettes....disgusting! I don't know how non smokers could even stand to be around that stench! LOL

I never smelled it before...lol

I'm still smoking... a LOT less than my norm, but I can't seem to quit totally at work (a casino...filled with smoke). Just since I have cut back so much, I can smell things MUCH more. There is a metal cart I have to stand with during my shift. Today I could smell the metal!!! I have been there 4.5 yrs...never SMELLED the metal (I didn't "sniff" in it's direction...I could just smell it while I was standing next to it...lol)

Well, I guess all of you are either lucky or unlucky depending on your point of view ( or what you're smelling ) - I haven't been able to smell squat in over 40 years. All I've done is vape for the past 2-1/2 months - and I still have NO sense of smell - honestly - I had thought I would - but no luck - just a whif of something for a brief second or two just like before - no changes in that dept.

I'm also waiting for the energy bump I keep hearing about - no such luck there either !

Sounds like I'm having one of those " your an A __ __ Hole Days - yep, guess I am, but heck, it is Monday and I'm still bummed over the news from DC last night !

Tomorrow's a brand new day !
