I converted my 75 year old mother to pv and she has cut her smoking down by 2/3, hooray for her. I now have her direct dripping with drip tips on an Ego PT. She asked me today if the batteries can overcharge, leaving it plugged in too long. I told her that I believe there to be circuitry installed in them to cut off voltage when they reach a full charge. Am I correct?

TIA,
Pam

I have not seen any thorough testing performed on the eGo to determine if the charging method is proper.

Considering the very high failure rate of ecig "kit" batteries, I would lean towards believing that the chargers do NOT properly terminate the charge. Protection circuits do not produce proper charge termination.

Guilty until proven innocent is my motto with li-ion chargers. Always assume the worst. I've tested more li-ion cradle chargers than you can shake a stick at, most fail miserably to follow proper safe charging and termination methods. I have no reason to believe that these ecigs are using "better" chargers than the equally cheap chinese cradle chargers.
