I picked it up and unscrewed the end cap and out came a little ball of wax/glue. My understanding is there are two dabs of glue right under the top cap to hold the chip in place.

My provari (v2.5 mini) vapes just fine and works the same but it's worrying me that the little chuck of glue fell out.

Will it be ok? Will the chip become too loose?

Help?!?!?

I would hate to send it in to provape for them to just take off the top cap and put a dab of glue and ship it back.

You really should have put this in the Provari forum, don't think they come and talk to us very often. Anyway if it's working fine it will probably be OK unless you drop it again, don't know what the situation is about fixing it yourself with regards to Provari doing anything at a later date so I would take some pics and send them to Provari as I have heard they are reasonable but I don't have one so could be wrong.

This is exactly what they will do. The chip should have a dab on each side of the chip underneath the cap. If the chip moves from prodding with a chopstick then it should be sent in.

You can tap the top cap out from the bottom with a long piece of steel rod and a hammer. Then you can reapply some hot glue between the top board edges and the tube. Most peoples chances of making this situation worse with diy attempts must be ~ 99.9%.

I just watched a video on you tube showing the dis assembly of the provari 2.5. I'm Fairy confident I can pop the top cap off and replace that drop of glue. The chips seems to move a bit more now without that drop of glue. Even thought the device works just fine its bugging me.

What do you guys think? What kind of glue should I use if I do it? Gorilla Glue? Hot Glue Gun?

They're pretty lenient about stuff like that.
Me...I'd send it in...cuz I have two, so I wouldn't suffer much.
:)

And IF they charge for the repair, it's likely to be about the same cost as the postage - in other words, not much - and worth it to eliminate the risk of messing something up trying it myself.

Oh and I forgot to mention its out of warranty by about 6 months.

Does anyone have a clue what provape would charge for something this simple? I'm debating doing it myself but I can't make up my mind.

With the one corner of the chip unglued it feels like the chip wobbles too much.

Funny Avatar...

Is that how you dropped it?

Now, Back to your problem. It is not a user serviceable device. For a proper repair send it in. (period)

Keep us posted, Jim

I figure this might fall in the "replace pushbutton" range for pricing.
Quite respectably, Provape publishes common repair costs - here on their site.
My guess is $10, but you can do a "ticket" and ask, too!
