I feel ripped off: "Dune E-cigarettes" contain 0% nicotine?

Has anyone had any experience with Dune Cigs ? I just bought one of their e-cig starter packs, thinking it would make a good alternative to smoking. Since it had the word "e-cigarette", was located on the same shelf in my local grocery store as nicorette and other smoking alternatives, and their website had 100s of testimonials of people saying it "helped them quit smoking" and they "get a good nicotine buzz", I figured it was worth a try.

Then I visited their website, and I was appalled to discover that every single cartomiser replacement they sell says it contains "0% nicotine". ...?! It sure as hell doesn't say that anywhere on the starter kit I bought!

So does this mean I just wasted $40 on a "flavour vapouriser"?

Wow... for future reference I'd avoid products from a website ending in .ca .tv etc...
It is probably possible to re-fill those cartomizers with some e-liquid. Though looking at the website they don't show much of how they are put together.

You might want to find an ECF member to mail a used carto to and let them figure out if it's at all possible to open and refill.
I'd be happy to do so myself if you wanted to mail off a used one. Just let me know.

Hey Moeburn - welcome to ECF. I'm so sorry that this happened to you...alot of people find their way here because they get ripped off. I can tell you for a fact that e-cigs do work, but I can also tell you that there are many unscrupulous people out there who only want to take advantage of people. I can only recommend that you do some research here...there is a wealth of info available for new vapers - and - we also have ECF approved vendors that you can check out. Check out the "Forum Suppliers" tab above. I wish you the best of luck - don't give up just because of this because I'm living proof that vaping DOES work!! :)

They didn't rip you off - it is not legal to sell e-cig cartomizers/liquids with nicotine in Canada. Yes, it's a ridiculous law when you consider that you can go into any corner market and buy nicotine products like cigarettes & cigars.

I would strongly encourage you to go to the Canada forum here for advice.

Edited to add that it is NOT illegal to use nicotine liquids in Canada - it's only illegal to sell them.

unfortunately pretty much all the gas station/walmart ecigs are a bust if you are seriuce about getting into ecigs look at the top of the page and click on the link of "Forum suppliers" and order something from one of them, maybe a ego twist or a vamo or something and order some good juice with nic from them while your there.

dont let a bad experience ruin your chance at a heather cig free life there are alot of cheep ecigs out there just looking to take your money and give nothing in return im sorry you found one of them=(

It's so annoying when these companies won't reveal what their battery thread size is. My first kit was Green Smoke, which I sent back, but I've still got a box of cartridges that won't fit on anything. It took quite an effort to find out what the size was, but I'm not about to buy an adapter just so I can use them. I was in a jam and bought a "Green Smart Living" e-cig at the liquid store and that turned out to be 510. It holds a battery charge only slightly longer than my attention span, but it looks cute with a Nano on it.

Thanks for all the helpful replies everyone! What a wonderful community!

Well that just sucks. Stupid country. Why are Nicorette and Thrive and other such nicotine products legal, but e-cigs not?

As for the thread size, here's a picture (sorry about the crappy quality, its a cell phone pic, my good camera is unavailable ATM). On the left is the battery/vapouriser, in the middle standing on its end is the cartomiser, and on the right is a regular Pall Mall cigarette.

[EDIT] The threads appear to be exactly 1/4 inch + 0.1mm, or 6.9mm. (maybe its just exactly 1/4", i dunno)

Hi All, My first post here but just to clear something up, I have not had any problem buying supplies and e-juice with nicotine from any of the 3 Canadian suppliers that I have purchased from. All have been very reputable and quite friendly and informative. True they are not available across the counter in stores (that's where the 0% stuff is available) but online has been no trouble whatsoever.
Health Canada wants a ban on the sale of these products but doesn't have any real reasoning for it, seems they would rather have us smoke tobacco or use big Pharma's 94.7% ineffective smoking cessation products than save lives.

I hope this post is not inappropriate.

I'm a newbie here, too (been visiting and reading for awhile to educate myself, but just joined today). I gave up analogs May 2011, and have wasted countless dollars on convenience-store e-cigs and replacement cartridges. First, I started with the Mistic brand that was sold at Walmart. Then it turned out that Walmart couldn't keep the replacement cartridges in stock, so I switched to Nicotek from the convenience store. Guess what? Yep, you guess it. Had to drive around from store to store in search of replacement cartridges. I just got tired of spending gas money to save ciggy money, and sending myself into a panic when I couldn't find the replacements. I was very close to going back to analog when I decided that there must be a better solution since I've always heard people raving about vaping. I finally called a rep at a local vaping supplier and she helped me with my first purchase: a 1300mah e-Go-T battery and clearomizers. It's working well for me so far (3 weeks), and I'm sure I'll move on up in hardware and accessories once I learn more about it. I guess my point here is... until you decide what your own personal needs are and purchase the items to satisfy those needs, you will continue to experience disappointment with the "ready-made", "smoke-what-we-give-ya" junk you find on the convenience store shelves.
