This is really uncommon, BTW. I have 3 of the xlong manual batteries, and they are awesome. But one of them is way too airy for me. The cartos just would not screw down tight enough, no matter how much I tried.

I wasn't going to ask for a replacement, though, since it's a perfectly good battery. I think the threads are a little off. So tonight I decided to just put a small piece of tape over one of the holes, and voila!! It works just as good as the others now. :)

I have an auto PT that I used in my truck that was that way. For a while I just put my fingers over the carto - battery joint and regulated it that way.

Then one day, while sitting at Sonic waiting for my order, I stuck a round wooden toothpick in one of the holes and broke it off. I used my thumbnail to make sure it was stuck in there good and tight. Problem solved!

Thanks. I hadn't posted it before because I thought it was kind of a "ghetto" fix.

I like that kind. ;)

I'm a big DIYer around the house. I wanted one of those plant light stands but they looked too flimsy (and very pricey). So I designed my own, bought some PVC with the T-joints and end caps and made it myself. Cost me about $10 (vs. $90 for one half the size, LOL). Oh, and only took me about 20 minutes to cut all the pieces and put it together. :)

Cut off an end of the condom that protects the carto and slide it over where the carto connects to the battery. You can adjust it so it's just right for the draw you are looking for.

Great minds think alike! Actually, this was the 1st thing I tried. It worked on an older auto battery I had, but for some reason wouldn't work on my xlong manual, not sure why. But it's a great tip, and I have passed it along all over the forum. Thanks!

Well the tape fell off pretty fast, so I tried your toothpick method and it works great! Big thank you!!
