Well thanks to all of the great information here at ECF I have made the plunge into the world of e-cigs. I ordered the dual 510 kit from Awesome Vapor ($39 including shipping) on monday and it arrived today. As luck would have it my 16ml bottle of 24mg Marlbone (I love the names) juice and some empty carts arrived today from Awesome Vapor as well. Superfast shipping from Awesome Vapor as I just placed the order on Weds morning. The order also came with a free 3ml 18mg sample of which I chose Coca-Cola flavor.
First I got the battery charged, blew out the atty and filled my first cart with the Marlbone juice. Then I tried it for the first time. I have to say after doing so much research here on ECF the experience is pretty much what I expected. The hits were fairly smooth with lots of throat hit but not a ton of flavor. Then I tried the Coke flavor and it was mild but nice. I think that after trying the 18 and 24mg juice the 18mg may be the one for me. I definately think that as different as vaping is from smoking I could still get get used to this. I'm only about 8 hours into it but I haven't had a craving for an analog yet. Hmmmmm..... I think a Juice Box may be in order here in the near future. So far the 510 is as good if not better than what I was expecting. Now it's only the first day so we'll see how long this feeling lasts.

Rock on!!! I just got my 510 also today!!! I still have to break it in and get it down. I got spoiled on the 2 part screw e cig lol So I suppose no matter how many threads I read or videos I watch. It's getting hot on me and I dunno why. I am sure all will be good when I get some answers on what I am doing wrong. Personally since getting my Eco Pure e juice off cignot whew I am so freakin happy! I am finally getting that hardcore menthol kick that has had me addicted all these years. Vaping was cool and keeping me off killers. I have always called them that. I have like 10 more menthols and other flavors coming. I can't wait to try em all. If any of the other menthols are like this one. Total Rock on! I can't wait to try the coconut also, I love the smell and taste, so I am so very curious to e cig it up! Don't give up on flavors man! If I had to go off the pre made carts with my first kit. I would have thrown vapin out of my window into the pool. Congrats on trying a new thing, aka my new lifestyle! XOXOX:thumbs:

How many drags do you take on it each time? I ask cos I got mine a couple days back but I find my vaping drags vary wildly. Sometimes I go out to the kitchen (I keep it there as thats where I always smoked) and take one or 2 drags then put it down. Other times I take 4 or 5 puffs, but its usually the lower amount rather than the 4 or 5.
I *am* finding the dry throat issue that has been mentioned too. It only hit me after I woke up, so thats soemthing to bear in mind - increase your fluids!
Good luck on your vaping journey!

I think it just depends on how much nicotine you need. I just got my 510 on Friday so I know that I am probably using it more than I need too because of the novelty of having something new and fun. I'm sure in time we will all figure out the proper amount of hits we need to take as well as the nicotine levels in our juice.

I'm now over three days without an urge for an analog. Lets hope that this lack of an urge lasts for a while.

Good luck everyone!

I received my 510 from Cignot.com last week. I tried all the different cart mod's and settled on the ZFM-Zero Filler Mod. That mod allows the most juice in the cart and so much vapor that I had to go to the drug store and get a bottle of Glycerin to cut the juice (I was using 26mg menthol), the strength after that mod was giving me a huge headache.

Happy Vaping!!

Your mom said not to say...
The 510 is a POS as far as I am concerned. You will soon find that it is a PITA to carry around all your tools and batteries since the 510 sucks. You will be constantly modifying your carts in order to get it to perform consistently, cleaning up your ejuice filling messes, searching for filler, and many other small things that add up to one big hassle. Step up to the big leagues if your going to stay with a standard E-cig get a KR808D-1 kit and some GreenCig carts and take a huge step forward in the vaping experience. You can take 2 carts and 2 batteries and be set for well into the evening. No need to constantly be refilling those tiny short lasting 510 carts, or dripping while driving which is an extremely dangerous and stupid thing to do.

I still think the 510 is a great way to get into e-cigs. For $38 shipped I got two complete 510's along with 5 carts (that taste like crap I might add, I have ordered lots of other flavors since then) and a wall charger. That's hard to beat with any e-cig. I'm on day 6 with mine and I still love it. I haven't even looked at an analog since and I have smoked analogs for over 27 years.

That being said, YES you do have to maintain the 510 pretty often but I REALLY want to quit analogs so the extra work is nothing for me. I also have a Juice Box on order. The Juice Box is supposed to take care of most of the maintenance issues but I would have never discovered the Juice Box if I wouldn't have purchased my Joye 510.

I've had my 510s for a month and change. I haven't smoked an analog since I got them. About 3 hours I think :). I don't find that it's that much maintenance. I generally carry 3 batteries for the day and keep them swapped out. I did the straw mod with the blue foam plug (about to switch to zip ties to hold up the plug instead of the straw), and yeah there's a little mess... but only when I fill it too full. I've no problem carrying a little case with spare juice, attys for each spare and a pair of tweezers. I like to tinker so spending time with my e cigs really isn't bad. I've got it down to a science. The learning curve really isn't bad. I'll probably buy a couple other models (I have a 901 too) just to try them out, but I really think the 510s are the best. Haven't had issue 1 (at least that I haven't caused). So screw the old cancer sticks! I'm feeling great, and I've started to get other people switched on to them.
Stay the course!
Matt

This mod looks pretty good. I think I am going to give this one a shot.

Yeah I've done the spring mod, and it works great. Did it both with poly fill and the blue foam plug. The only reason I'm not using it now was because of some discussion of the galvanizing material flaking off, and of the metal underneath rusting. The idea of the plastics in there is very appealing as I don't want that stuff in my lungs. If you switch out the spring often (maybe weekly?) you probably mitigate that to some degree. Otherwise that's a great mod. I also ran them vertically in my 901 with a good degree of success.

Snarks, I know where you are coming from, but I think it is better to let a newcomer get to know his investment and learn how to use it first, then they can think about other models. I use a 510 and love it, and I don't really have the money to purchase and then retire all the models you have listed. The 510 has a very strong following here for good reason...for the money it is not a POS, mine works like a vapor champ, although it does take time to get it right. Dissing their well-researched, and IMHO good, choice is like telling your dinner partner in a restaurant that the food they ordered is crap, and if they had been smarter they would have ordered what you ordered. That only serves to ruin the meal. My 510 serves me extremely well, and I've never regretted the decision to get it once. I use a ZFM cart mod which produces excellent vapor for a long time, and I use mega batts, which also last a long time.

Snarkyone, Just because the 510 didn't work for your needs is no reason to try and tell someone that just started vaping, that they've made the wrong choice! The 510 is widely used by many, and delivers a good bang for the buck. Does it require some maintenance? Yes.. Do you have to fiddle with components? Sure.. When I was smoking analogs, I was always grabbing for a lighter, emptying ash trays, etc., etc., etc. Now, I just drip and vape. (It ain't no big thang! :)

For those of you that bought 510 starter kits, don't let him Snark on your parade! You've made a solid first choice for vaping!

I'm using the ZFM mod (zero-filler mod) with excellent results. You need a drinking straw, a cart cap (sometimes called a cart condom) and an xacto knife. Perfect vapor for a long time, although refilling is best with a syringe, so there is an inconventience, but one can make and fill several carts to use throughout the day.

BTW, love the avatar. I restore vintage audio electronics as a hobby, and spin vinyl often. I particularly like the late '50s and early '60s tube gear. I am guessing the avatar is a Pioneer from the mid 70s, maybe Sansui. Fun stuff! :D
