I guess I'm one of the lucky ones?

I've been smoking for about 3 years.
I started because my significant other couldn't quit.
So instead of .....ing about how he smells, I picked up smoking.

I have a constant need to keep my hands occupied, so it works for me.
Plus I've always found that playing with smoke is so incredibly entertaining.

Either way, when I decided I didn't want to pay for it anymore, I quit.
No problems, no cravings, no nothing.
Come to think of it, I never ever felt like I 'needed' a cigarette.

So trying to help him quit has proven difficult, because I've never experienced the addiction, so I have no idea what he's going through.

Then I found e-cigs and instantly fell in love, purely because I can play with 'smoke' all I want, without the bad sh-t in analogs.
Plus the flavors are enjoyable, since my first love was hookah.
Call me crazy, but it's my little toy. I love it.

So now I've got him vaping, at least, and for that, I'm glad.
Are there any super-negative effects of long-term nicotine use?
