I hate the word "newbie"...but on this platform, that would be me.

Hi My name is dianeofarcadia...
Since I am assuming this is a safe place to post and usually I do not post in forums but would like to get into some of the discussions here and learn more while abiding by the forum rules...Hope this little blurb for the fifth post is acceptable. ;)

Day 10. According to my stats on the android app. I have not smoked 215 cigarettes and have saved $57 so far. Now, since I smoked about 3 or 4 for the first couple days of making my transition to ecigs/vapors - we can cut that down slightly except for the dollar amount because no cigarettes were purchased once I got the set up going...oops, I should admit I am getting into the modding aspect but as for the tobacco, we just used some old stuff that was used for rolling/and the same for the materials for the mods. (the wood for this piece came from a tree my partner and I just cut down this past summer)
Just after this short time, I can smell it now - oh gosh, now I understand how horrible that smell is. What I like the most is I don't panic, feel stressed about where my smokes are or have the anxiety that I used to feel when I tried to quit in the past...I can even tell when my partner tries to sneak one out in the man-cave. lol!
My other hobby is tweaking/modding/rooting my android phones but I might have just found a new hobby to play with....now we just need to get the lathe fixed!! in the meantime, playing with some bling and exploring the idea of some copper/wood, maybe a steampunk design. (this piece is done, finally got a spinner on the end to satisfy my fingers urge to twiddle with something - and yes, the charm holds some back-up juice.)

really looking forward to engaging in this forum, already learning quite a bit of useful information.
and yes...I have questions about the batteries and modding but that will come in time, just after I get done reading the entire past threads and searches. :2cool:

Thank You! (I can't take the credit, my other half I call DBF (dear boyfriend) made it as he is/was trying to teach me how to use the lathe. Sadly while doing this piece after making some vap stands for my boys who convince me to make the switch, the lathe motor died...so we are in the process of replacing that.
He is still debating on if that is a good idea or not. lol, but I think the fun times in the man-cave are telling him to go for it. ;)

as for the forum, as a lurker on some professional forums for many years, I like how this one is run. (friendly, fun and very helpful).

i concur sexy mod and welcome.

I'm new too...my first mod isn't nearly as funky as yours...

but brushed stainless steel svd always was gonna win a place in my heart...

grats on leaving the stinkies behind. i've just discovered menthols after 105days of vaping. if you like throat hit menthols are great (i really missed throat hit and haven't been able to simulate that with my dessert vapes...( )

anyway good luck with stuff.

You do realize we have just rented out your other half for the next 10 years? (Seriously, this is the kind of stuff some new careers have been made of around here.)

Your next fun place to go would be here => http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/

That one is gonna have both "technical" mods re: building e-cig guts, and more "pretties" mods - all the other materials not being used in the "pink" sub forum. Well, some really beautiful, some sorta scary and...odd. lol You'll see.

Now that your post count is above 5 you can start posting (mostly) all over the place. I hear ya about the "newbie" thing but around here if anything it's meant more as a term of endearment than a slam. We feed the newbies, we do not hurt the newbies.

Hey! You sabotaged your own first post! We all got blindsided by that great mod and missed everything else! lol How is that quitting going? I do believe you mentioned that butts were already smelling gross. That happens a lot. It can be really surprising how quickly the smoking experience can turn on you once you start vaping. Funny how that thing you thought you couldn't live without can go gross in short order. (Actually it's wonderful for those it happens to.)

Welcome and lovely work there. I love the idea of the charms.
You should post more details and pictures in the modding section.

BTW, what kind of lathe do you use?

Thanks!!
It is an old one - Jet Mini style, we are currently looking for a new motor, but I am trying to talk him into just getting a new one since the motor is only 200 shy of a completely new setup.

Welcome! Beautiful set up--I would love to know where you got your charms...

JoAnne's Fabrics - they were on sale (extreme couponer here..lol - so worked with what I could on the sale) ;) - did spend money on the chain portion though, really like how that worked out...

LMAO! He will be thrilled to know his honey do list just got longer as I rent him out to the neighbors as well. I need to work on getting over my fears with this lathe so I can do it too, however we make a great team. I do the designs, he does the handiwork.
As for the smoking, I am so happy this option/alternative is (still) available and hopefully it stays that way - getting active about the much needed support to keep this away from the government as I feel this is a healthier alternative to breaking free from the toxic options that are currently out there
Yesterday was a toughie (am a special needs mom and he is approaching adulthood) - really spent most of the day just vaping and avoid the urge the to have an analog but we made it through. ;)
off to read the mod sections and today's newest releases - thanks again everyone for the warm welcomes. :2cool:
