Once you get a meter, practice building a single coil. It won't blow clouds like you're used to, but you'll learn what works well and what doesn't. Once you get that down, then you can start on the dual coils. The key to good dual coils is getting them exactly the same so they heat evenly when fired.

See that's one thing I didn't know. Thank you for all the answers you've given me and your concern for my safety. I will be much more careful in the future.

+1 on all of @Lessifer's advise. @Baditude's blog posts are an essential read for anyone new to rebuildables and mech mods. I would also read the blog post on the Purple Efest battery (#17). It speaks to the "mislabeling" of batteries with the "pulse" rating.

In regards to Amps & headroom, I'll quote @tj99959 as this is the practice I follow.

"I try to never exceed 50% of the CDR (continuous discharge rating) of a fully charged battery (4.2v). So with your 20A batteries, that would be 10A. This Ohm's Law Calculator tells me that a .4 ohm build is as low as I would want to use.

The reason that I place a 50% limit is because as a battery ages the mAh of the battery degrades, as the mAh degrades so does the batteries c rating (amp limit). So down the road, your 20A battery may only be a 10A battery.

One more question, is it okay to use the extra coils that came with my haze rba.

Depends on what their resistance is. And the only way to know that is to measure them with an ohm reader.

Keep in mind that if you have 2 identical coils (each 1.0Ω) when you install them in parallel they should read a total resistance of 0.5Ω on your ohm reader.

Welcome Curtis.

First of all - PLEASE DO NOT BUILD A COIL WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO MEASURE ITS RESISTANCE. This is for your safety. I've been building for over a year, and I don't care how pretty or perfect it looks or that I counted exactly x number of wraps with y gauge wire - I DON'T TRUST IT UNTIL I CAN MEASURE IT....

What kind of battery are you using in the anarchist? Do you know the current rating? Do you know the charge left on your battery? Do you know that on a mech mod, as the battery life depletes, the ability to drive the coil depletes?

There's some good reading here: (18) Baditude's Blogs | E-Cigarette Forum. This guy has been around the block a couple of times and has some good basic information that vapers should know.

Back to the coil issue.... 24g kanthal is pretty thick wire, and it may take some time to heat properly. Don't know the inner diameter of the "nail", so we can't even get a guesstimate (Steam Engine | free vaping calculators has GREAT coil building info as well as info on OHM'S LAW) If your battery is insufficient, it can't drive the coils, and therefore you aren't going to be able to generate the "cloud".

You also have to make sure that you're getting good airflow around the coil(s). So, lots of factors combine in order to achieve the vape you're seeking.

Keep reading here - LOTS of knowledgeable folks. Building is a great deal of fun (but it can also be challenging :) )
