I will always love smoking but as long as I have e-cigs I know I can resist them. This morning while cleaning I saw a cig pack under my kitchen table. I figure my dog, who is always digging things out to chew on found them under the bed or something. I left it sitting there for hours afraid to pick it up in case it had cigs in it finally I had to get it off the floor and sure enough it was almost a half of pack with a lighter. I stood there starring at them and sniffed the pack...smelled like heaven and before I knew it I had whipped one out light it up and was mesmerized.. I ended up smoking about half it of before I came to my senses and put it out, then quickly filled the pack with water to ruin the cigs and tossed it. I guess I should feel guilty but I don't, before e-cigs I would have ended up smoking them all in a few hours and likely going to buy another pack.. but this time I was able to toss them though I do have an overwhelming sense of sadness and loss from the thought of trashing them and a bit of a cig buzz.

Totally normal. I had a half pack of smokes in my truck for nearly 4 months once I made the switch. I got close a few times early on but ended up tossing them once I was sure I wasn't going there again.

I still like the smell of a freshly lit cig. Many hate it after switching but i'll always like it. I just can't go back there and it's no longer even in the back of my mind anymore. Not sure how long you've been vaping but time erases the need to put smoke in your lungs.

Do not count the days since your last cig. It is the cigarettes avoided not the ones that you inadvertently smoke count. Perhaps we should all bum a smoke once in a while to remember how bad it really is!

Grannykimmy, I think you were very disciplined to destroy the rest of the pack you found! Not sure I could have brought myself to do that! I'd have probably smoked them and felt guilty about it!! I say - big congratulations to you!!!! Forget that you smoked part of a cigarette - now move on. You passed this test just fine!

My husband who thought he'd never quit smoking really took to his zmax. He only smoked for 2 days after switching then quit cigarettes for good. Now he can't stand the smell or taste of regular smokes. I on the other hand love the smell. I thought it would stink to me like it does most others that have quit. I thought it would taste bad too. It does not. It's like an old friend, the nostalgia comes back to me when I'm around it. But like you, as long as I have my e-cig I can easily avoid them. Kudos for putting it out and resisting!!!

I hear ya there, I looove the smell of a fresh lit CIG, but now that my sniffer is working properly shortly after they small bad.
My wife still smokes, I can smell them on her breath from across the room when she talks to me....heh

I consider my self lucky, even when wife is with her sister for a day and her roll your own stuff is there, there is no desire to make one and lite it up, without the ecig though I would still be trapped......

I've made made one slip up since quitting the analogs. But I only did it to see if I could go back.

And I did NOT like it. Smells delicious....tasted like I licked an ashtray. I HATED that. We smoked indoors so our whole place is basically ruined with smoke smell.....but I can't smell it(thankfully)!

Sooooooo glad to see my body was able to make the switch so easily. My wife still has the occasional analog when we go to my parents house but smokes nothing like she did before.

Like when my mom quit back in the 90's(for a year) I have a few unopened packs around the house(and 2 in the car) however I'm not tempted to light up. Just knowing I could if I wanted to helps, in a way.

Good job on restraining yourself!!

Ahhh temptation. You handled it and don't beat yourself up over a half of a cigarette. :)

That cig buzz? It's you're brain being starved for oxygen. Your brain thanks you for not finishing that cig. :D

Alot of my buddies still smoke, my roomate smokes, and once in a while I take a drag, or light one for one of them, and whenever I do take a drag its just a HUGE reminder of why I quit. Funny though, I actually TASTE the tobacco flavor(not a good flavor),I never tasted them when I smoked, just the smoke flavor. Cigarettes are easy not to smoke, but Copenhagen, thats a different story lol. I miss my Cope! Still only vape though, I'd like to keep my lips and tongue lol.

You did just fine. Assuming your join date is when you started vaping, you're way ahead of where I was. It took me months to get off the cigs.

If you got a nic rush from that cig, you might consider getting some juice with a higher nic content. I started with 24mg nic, and it wasn't enough to get me off the cigs. I had to get some 30mg juice to quit. Once I got that, it was easy. And once I was off the cigs, moving to lower nic levels (and eventually to 0 nic) was easy.

I agree with those who say that a fresh lit cigarette smells good. I still like that smell. But only when they are fresh. 30 minutes later, that cigarette ...., the ashtray, and the person that smoked it are all going to stink.

I hear you, on occasion I find it real hard not to smoke one in the morning. That is my problem with getting completely off of them. Once I have that one in the morning then I'm good for the day. Don't even crave it during the day but I love that morning cig with my coffee big time.

I recommend you get some higher nic juice and use it in the morning. Then go to whatever you've been using the rest of the day.

My trigger was meals. When I started vaping, it didn't take long before I was fine the rest of the time just vaping, but right after meals, I had to have a cig. Higher nic juice made the difference for me.

Well I'm at 24mg. This is my 3rd attempt at quiting through vaping. It has been about 3 months since trying again, and doing much better. I don't have a cig every day, but when I do get cravings it is for that morning cig.

I still feel pretty good about it as going from a pack to 1.5 packs a day for 30 years to one cig once in awhile in the morning is quitting in my book. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

Good advice. I use 24 early in the day via an Aerotank/VTR, then later in the day I use a Kayfun/mech with 6 or 12. Usually after a meal, I take a few puffs off the 24.

My wife still smokes analogs all the time as she won't convert to an e cig because of the report about the lady who charged hers in her car and it exploded. I can watch her smoke and never get the urge to light one myself. It wasnt always like that but your resistance to tolerate seeing cigarettes smoked will build up over time. Sounds cliche but you have to take it one day at a time.
