hello everyone.
so i just dropped a fair bit of cash on what will be known as one of my most gratifying liquid orders, which is also to date the most gratifying liquid order ever. my favorite liquid vendor uses flavors from tasty vapor. i ordered their german chocolate cake last time around, and really enjoyed it. there was a nutty flavor i was getting that i really enjoyed, but really ignored at first. when i was 19 i developed a plethora of random allergies, and am allergic to every nut in existence. yes, even if it is a legume. my reaction is pretty anaphylactic, and my strategy is usually just absolute abstinence.
so i hop on google and find out what makes chocolate cake german. the addition of pecans and just a german method of chocolate cake making seemed to be key. i bought a 30 ml bottle and really loved it, so i found out more to find if it was safe or not.
i had no idea how vaping an allergen was supposed to make me react. after a few days i should have felt something. but i was not wearing a full body hive suit, and my throat/face remained normal. i sent an email to tasty vapor, and they assured me that there are no nut essential oils for me to worry about in that particular flavor. i'm in the habit of making fairly large orders, so i waited until my stash had dwindled enough for me to question further.
yesterday i sent tasty vapor an email explaining that i wanted to see how much i could get away with vaping flavors i would otherwise be allergic to. i sent them a huge list of nut based flavors i wanted to try from my regular liquid vendor. the response i got was this:
"Hi ____,
All of our flavorings, except for essential oils, are artificially manufactured to mimic an actual flavor.
With that said, anything using "nut" flavorings will not contain any actuallly nut or nut oils.
Hope this helps,
Calvin"
did i mention how awesome they are? they replied in a timely fashion, and were professional. they also answered my question, where they could have just as easily told me to err on the side of caution. i have been dealing with my allergies for 6 years, and i am still learning a lot. life has it's little ways to keep you on your toes, y'know? my general rule is to practice complete abstinence, as my allergic reactions include anaphylaxis and wearing a full body hive suit for a month. i know that nut oils do not belong on my skin, and you cannot even bake peanut butter cookies with me in the house. i cannot eat barley, but discovered recently i do not get allergic reactions from beer (yay beer!). so for me, tv offers me a loop hole as far as my nut allergies go. i have learned i am ok with artificial things mimicing nuts.
anyways, here is that order i made:
almond horn (almond pastry)
amaretto stone sour
mahalo oahu (hawaiian flavor - i get pineapple, passionfruit, with a bit of coconut?)
tastyfinger (pb + chocolate)
earl grey tea
monkey chunks (a banana, walnut, chocolate ice cream flavor my friend adores)
peanut butter cookie (i love soy butter the best, but it will not bake!)
pear marzipan torte
lemon poundcake
it is scheduled to arrive tuesday. i may actually cry. thanks for hearing me out! hope that helps other people who are aware of their body's limits but have also wondered what else vaping may have to offer for them.
