I'm coming from an istick 50w (died last night) and a Goliath v2 so as you can see it's been awhile since I've bought new gear.

Ive been looking for something new with more oomph if you get what I mean.

So far things like the TFV8 and the wismec RX200 or Rx200s have appeared to be some of the great pieces of vape hardware currently out right now.

I'm new to external batteries and the like so I'd need some pointers on that but from my understanding I don't need to concern myself with TC and firing nickel or stainless steel wires because the tfv8 uses the kanthal (idk if I spelled that right) wire which is used in the largest segment of subohm tanks so I would power it in vw or vv modes correct?

Also if someone could give me pointers on batteries and charges and maybe a few tips for safe operation that would be great.

I'm out of ecig hardware to use and craving nicotine so hopefully I can place an order today.

I'm not dead set on the hardware (rx200 and tfv8) I'm definitely open to opinions.

If I don't go the external battery mod route I did see this on my vapor store
Sigelei J150 Built-in Battery TC Mod
It's a 150w mod with internal battery and seems to be the highest wattage one can get from an internal battery mod.

I am at your mercy ecig forum members. Someone save me from going to the corner store and buying a pack of cigarettes! Thank you.

Extra info. I like the vape in the Goliath v2. The quality of the vape is good. Generally if there's rumors of dry hits or burning with a tank...I get the same issue. The Goliath v2 is one of the only tanks I've ever used that's been free of dry hits/burnt hits since I began vaping. Maybe the isub G too.

I usually vape the v2 anywhere from 15w to 25w. I just don't get enough of the vapor (even though it does produce sizable clouds)

Look up the smok alien kit. I just ordered 2 from ecig city and there Halloween sale.
You will need 2 good 18650 batteries and a charger as well. I would recommend 4 batteries actually so you can use a set while the other is charging.
I have a rx200 I use daily and the alien interested me because of its size and options. I build my own coils so don't know if I will use the tfv8 mini it comes with. One other reason I want it is it has ramp up control. Basically you can set it to hard and it will fire over your set wattage for a second to help heat your coil faster (if needed). Anyway run to some of these sites having sales that end today for some savings. Good luck.

That would be a personal preference.
Personally I can't tell you how many times I have been out and my mod died.
All I do is swap the batteries and keep on going. With an internal battery all you can do is plug it in and wait.
But if you make sure your mod is charged (unlike me lol) you may never have an issue.
Or you could get 2 of the internals and have 1 charging and one vaping :). However you do it there will be "start up" cost.
I'm sure others will chime in, but I have enough 18650 batts to run a lot of mods so I stay with swappable batteries.

Go to reputable sites for authentic high drain batteries most importantly.
A good charger and more or less you are good if using a regulated mod. To get started I mean, as long as you use caution and pay attention you will be good.
Still there is a lot to read on batts and all on ecf to help you stay safe.
There are a lot of sales ending today so hopefully you can take advantage.

Makes sense. Other this marrying the Batteries and charging/discharging them together what else do I need to know about safely using external batteries?
If you think you'll ever need to carry spare batts with you purchase a good case to put them in.
Loose in pocket isn't a good idea.

Also check out Mooches blog for the best batteries to purchase for your needs. Cheers.

Have you had any luck finding some gear?

I bought what you see here. The pico kit comes with the melo 3 mini.

I bought two kits because I don't want to rely only on the rx200s and the tfv8. I wanted to also have something smaller for on the go etc.

On imrbatteries website I bought a Nitecore (I believe) 4 bay charger and 4 lg 18650 batteries. I think they were the brown wrapped ones. The g2 I wanna say? Could be wrong. 20amp. 3000mah batteries.

I know my batteries must be married but is there harm in charging batteries for different mods in the same bay at the same time? I assume not.

Battery Basics for Mods: The Definative Battery Guide for Vaping
  • A popular and essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

I read that before purchasing. It's the Hg2s I bought on second look. I bought those because they were very popular and I thought I'd start with the safest choice. I was tempted to get 30amp batteries to really ensure they can handle the load but I figure I'll enjoy the doubled battery life of going with the 20amp ones.

I still didn't see any mention on if it's okay to charge batteries of different mods in the same bay at the same time?

I know I need to marry batteries to mods. I intend on marking three of them for the rx200 and 1 for the pico so I never get them mixed up.

Yes, good choice as I use the same batts.
As long as the batts have the same charge/discharge cycle is the common concensus. I have a 4 Bay charger and have on many occasions charged 2 different pairs at the same time.
Where I used to have an issue is when my RX200 was my daily driver and had to charge the 3 batts and wait to charge others.

So it's a good thing the pico only takes one battery? This way I can charge all 4 at once if need be lol
