Has anyone else experienced this?

There is some flavor/taste that they LOVE in foods or beverages, and they thought it would make a perfect vape, and yet it turns out to be the opposite?

Say for instance you loved the taste of tobacco, but seem to not enjoy any tobacco flavored e-liquids at all.

Or you drink coffee everyday, thought it would make a GREAT vape, and yet no matter how many coffee flavored e-liquids you try, you just don't like them.

I'm asking because I've seen a few people mention similar instances, and I was just wondering how common this is?

I'm not really asking about a SPECIFIC vendor or e-liquid.....but rather the type of flavor/taste in general.

I have very limited experience with ecigs, but I'm already starting to think that certain flavors that I enjoy in the real world, just don't translate to how I thought they would when vaped. Even if the e-liquid itself is a good e-liquid, it just might turn out I'm not interested in that flavor for vaping.

Also, has anyone experienced the opposite? Flavors/tastes that they can't stand or dislike in food/drinks/desserts or whatever, they end up REALLY liking for a vape?

Just curious what others' experiences have been on the topic.

I have found that I can eat artificially flavored candy, but I can't vape artificially flavored juices that taste like candy.

I think a big one for me will be natural fruit flavored e-liquids.

I eat a LOT of fruit, more than anyone I know. On average, I eat 5-8 servings of fruit a day. I have my staples, like apple, banana, strawberry, grapes, etc that I eat everyday, and then other fruits that I eat a few times a week or less.

Weird thing is though, even though fruit is my FAVORITE thing to eat, hands down, I have NO interest in fruit-vapes. I could end up trying one someday, and enjoy it, but i HIGHLY doubt it. Very hard to explain. Maybe it is because I eat fruit so much, the last thing I want to do is vape it, who knows. I could be totally wrong, maybe I would enjoy them, no idea.....but i definitely won't be ordering some anytime soon.

I'll have to see how tobacco flavored eliquids, and coffee flavored ones do with me. I love both those types of flavors in real life, not sure how itll translate in vapeworld

Just a guess, but it may be that the foods we enjoy and eat on a regular basis imprint a " this is what it should taste like" note in our brains. The artificially synthesized flavor just doesn't match. Another theory is that since you like those foods so much you have sought out the best or best tasting to you and the vapor flavorings just can't compare.
That being said I have found some very tasty fruit flavors and appreciate tobacco flavor much more than when I smoked.

I have a bunch that I love the real thing but think are just awful as vapes. Butterscotch is totally gross to me as a vape, as is most chocolate's. But I only find cinnamon and caramel to be horrid if the vendor put too much of that flavor in the mix, otherwise both are great. I haven't found anything with butterscotch that I can tolerate. I'm not sure if a tiny amount of those two would be ok or not, so I'm not really sure as to why I don't like them in vapes, but I have certainly wondered about this same phenomenon as you, and it seems to be rampant.

What we have to remember is that anything edible comes with a myriad of textures that will never be captured in vape form. It is the same reason why some people may love drinking orange juice but not eating an orange--it's choices in texture: drinkable liquid or edible fruit. Conversely, it is the same reason why I love eating pizza (well, as much as anyone else), but there is no way in hell that I would drink a blended up pizza shake or would I vape it! There is no difference in ingredients from a blended up pizza shake with an actual pizza--no added ingredients, and the temperature could be the same, but that texture is so much a part of the experience that once missing, it becomes a new proposition and often times that new proposition loses out on what makes it win.

Caramel! Love eating it or drinking it in coffee or a shake. Can't stand vaping it. Didn't realize until recently that it was the caramel flavor that put me off. I tried tons of RY4’s, so many people rave about them, kept thinking I just hadn't found a good one. I finally gave up on them. Got into DIYing at first of the year and one of the first flavors I was excited to try was FlavorWest's Salted Caramel. First try I realized that "caramel" was the taste I couldn't stand in the RY4's. Coffee is another, so far all of them I've tried remind me more of burnt popcorn.

Yeah, I love drinking coffee and tea, but can't stand either in a vape. Same with salted caramel. LOVE to eat it ... it's my favorite. Tastes horrible to me vaped.

On the flip side, I really don't like pears or salt water taffy. Yet after receiving them as samples in some juice shipments, they're some of my favorite juices!

Also don't like tobacco flavors at ALL, but I'm kind of not surprised at that. I never liked plain tobacco as a smoker. I only smoked menthol. Didn't matter HOW bad I was craving a cigarette, I couldn't stand to smoke a regular non-menthol. Yes, I'm nuts lol.

Some of the e-liquids I HATE most are flavors that I would have swore up and down were my favorite (in food or beverage form). On the other hand, some of my all-day-vapes are things I would either never eat/drink, or an e-liquid that I would have NEVER purchased assuming that I would not like it that I got as a free sample.

I just mentioned in another thread, I loved smoking but since I switched to vaping, I can't stand tobacco flavors or smell- whether in actual tobacco or ejuice. I love cinnamon rolls but the one cinnamon roll juice I tried was like sucking on a stick of butter. I also love bacon but I can't bring myself to order the bacon flavor from my vendor.

Well, it's interesting. There are all sorts of things that people like to eat that are automatically and almost universally excluded from vaping consideration altogether except as "dare ya" novelty - meats and fish, vegetables, non-sweet cereals and grains...
Bacon, crab and pizza juices have appeared, for instance, but most people automatically recoil and they're not big hits. It's strange, actually. The palate seems to assume that vaping should involve 'recreational' foods and beverages but no one is vaping Doritos or chicken wings. Sweetness or some resemblance to tobacco seem the obvious criteria.
Cocktails work but not dry red wine.
Pondering Mr Mann's interesting comment re texture I'm trying to think of an analogy but it's escaping me - many liquids that we don't want to vape are happily ingested (vegetable juice, broth, dry wine, gravy, etc.) whereas hard candy, gummi gel, doughy or cake deserts, ice cream, cookies etc. are all successful both ways. The juicy chew of a rare steak is not something that we want to be reminded of when we vape, but the juicy chew of an apple or a fruit tart or a gummi bear might well be.
So, OK, sweetness. But what about sweet corn? Honey-glazed ham? Some might be excited about a sweet-potato pie but baked yams with brown sugar juice would raise eyebrows.

Now, why is that?

Actually it's an interesting question in general. Lots of people love the smell of bacon cooking. But no one's going to buy a Bacon Yankee Candle. Coffee's fine, though (I've got a couple of MochaDoodle Scentsys going right now - lovely.)

I feel stupid. This must be easy. :glare:

I was thinking about the same things last night.

One of the few enjoyable vapes that are hard to come by is savory. When I drink a glass of red wine I wish I had something to "go" with it, but tobacco will always suffice.

Yes, these are questions to ponder. Yes. Indeed.

I'm sort of sad that I very deliberately cultivated a very strong aversion to the taste of tobacco during my last month of smoking. It's easy to do if you have some mind mastery, as cigarette tobacco is inherently unpleasant (we all remember the first nauseating time that we took a drag). But I did used to love good cigars and pipe tobacco now and then. Since a woman with a cigar or a pipe still looks self-conscious and pretentious (isn't that stupid?), that was an occasional and solitary pleasure. All of the most interesting action in ecigs seems to be around NETS and tobacco flavors, sigh. But I guess I'll keep the aversion against an (unlikely) apocalyptic day when ecigs disappear - I'd rather give it all up than long for yukky cigarette taste again.

Never imagined that I'd one day associate my beloved nicotine hit with fresh pears, pineapple upside down cake and tiramisu... but yeah, no savory. (I knew I was being stupid, couldn't find that obvious word. thank you!)
Nuts are a nice bridge between sweet and savory... what are some good, not-too-sweet nut flavors in ejuice? I've not liked them much so far... the 'artificial' thing.

I can only deal with "nutty"--nuts in a very general sense--than liquids that star a solo performance of any nut. I don't think that kind of oily, fatty taste translates well. BWB has a juice called Nutty that tastes like a mix of nuts, sans walnuts, and it is very good as a representation of what it should be, but not very pleasant for me to vape. However, it tasted great with a cup of hot chocolate.
