Man i love this place, already some helpful responses, thanks.

I should mention though that I don't have a cartomizer (cartridge plus atomizer in one piece from what I understand), my atomizer and cartidge are two separate pieces. Does that change things?
That is a 510-Tank (510-T)

If it starts getting a burned flavor, time to clean the atomizer..easily done

Actually cartridges are simple, but weak in performance. You need to put (x) drops into the end of the cartridge. Most take about 6-10 Drops. Next, be sure the filler material is flush with the end. Filler needs to just touch the bridge across the Atomizer coil. This allows transfer of liquid.
You cannot Chain vape this setup. You also should keep the unit Cartridge up between Vapes to allow gravity to assist.
Draws should be Slow and light to avoid pulling liquid away from the coil.

First chance, you should get 1 box of these cartos and give them a try. Each may last a week with proper topping.
http://www.caterpillarvapes.com/cartomizers/boge-black-cartomizers-low-resistance/
They will hold about 20-25 drops and last a few hours before topping off (6-10 drops) is required
vape is much nicer also.
Are the batteries 510 skinny type or 510/Ego?

If you're gonna go with cartomizers for awhile, be sure to order more than one.;) I just read through the thread and noticed that you were using it as a singular. Carto's are fairly cheap and aren't very permanent. How long they last depends on your juice and how often you use them. I'd get 10-15 to start with. Most vendors offer a discount the more you buy.
And be sure to drink plenty of water. Some great advice here in this thread. Good luck! :toast:

If you're set on a cigalike size, I would recommend ditching the 510 entirely and getting something that uses a KR808 battery and cartos instead, I have both and the 808s out-perform the 510s in almost every way I can think to measure. Not a huge price difference, look for Kanger 808 cartos and a cheap 'XL' auto or manual battery and you should be all set for maybe $20, gets you a charger, battery, and a 5-pack of cartos. I know Litecig has 808 cartos for a decent price, and I found a shop selling white-label batteries and chargers, which I'm using now when I want a cigalike, if I find the link again I'll post it, but a quick Google search should turn them up fast enough either way.

I used the 510 types when I first started vaping and only used them to curb my habit of holding cigs. The problem I had with these for me was the short battery life. I've using the eGo-C batteries when it was time to really quit the analogs and am very happy with the slimness of the eGo-c's and the battery life. For me I need to have a full day on a battery and not just a half day. Just can't wait the hours of charge time on the 510's

Alright guys, I just ordered these:

1. Boge 510 Cartomizers, Standard Resistance - thanks to those in this thread for recommending them. I'll see how they work next week.

2. Kanger M3 Clearomizers for the 510 - I saw a review of these on youtube and people seem to like it, and i've heard many good things about Kanger in general on here. And I like how these are clear which will allow a noobie like me to visually be able to see when i need to refill it with e juice.

They should arrive this thursay or so. I'll let u know how they work. :)

I started with the same setup you have. Here it was, in the classy's :)

My first step up was clearomizers - still a cig-shape, but the flavor was better, and it kept me happy for a little while.
(Then I moved to Ego batteries, and bigger clearomizers...)
For a few bucks, it's worth a try...

Here's a Vision Nano - I liked them, but about every 3rd one had a weird plastic-ish taste that lasted about the first fill-up then went away. They are DISPOSABLE - meaning, they'll last a while, then the atomizer, which is built-in, dies. You cannot replace or rebuild it like you can with larger clearomizers or tanks...

Here's a Kanger T4. Same idea - a 510 battery sized little clearomizer.

One difference - the Nano uses a proprietary, screw-in drip tip. The T4 is a standard tip, so you could attach a different one if you wanted to.

Dripping uses no cartridges, and in fact you can do it with what you have now.
Of course if you like it you're going to want to get a drip tip.

Basically, you would just take the cartridge off and drip a couple of drops of juice directly into the atomizer.
Take all of that stupid filler material out of the cartridge and put it back on the atomizer.

Let the juice soak in for a few seconds, then take a few drags and see how it goes.
Once it needs more juice you just add a couple more drops.

How many drops you use depends on a few different factors, but 3 drops is a good place to start usually.
If you put in too many drops you will flood the atomizer and it will not produce any vaper, so you would need to blow some out.

Dripping is kind of an art, and you get better at it as you play around with it.
Once you're good at it, all your troubles melt away.
:)

I've been trying this since my cartomizers and clearomizers won't arrive for another week.

How many puffs do you usually get out of 3 drops of the e juice? I know i could just try to keep puffing until i taste the burning taste, but at this point i think i've associated the burning taste with my e-liquid's flavor lol, and so it's hard for me to gauge. Plus i'm new to this in general and don't really know what exactly what a good puff, a bad puff, or a perfect puff should feel and taste like.

Unfortunately it depends on a number of factors, and I can't really answer that for your circumstances.

It depends on how thick your juice is and how big the size of your drops are...
Bigger bottle tips make bigger drops, and vice versa.

It depends on the power you are vaping with, which includes voltage and resistance of atomizer.
More power will vaporize more liquid, which will give you more vaper but fewer drags.

It also, obviously depends on how big of drags you take.

Having said all that, I usually get around 6 good drags.
I've heard people say they get as many as 10 or even 15 drags.

Sorry your havin some trouble, don't give up and think what you got wont atleast kinda work.

Fill a cart like people have described and try again.

I use boge cartomizers on my ego batteries, and they require a very similar filling procedure. It takes patience.

Tanks don't, A kanger protank for example has 510 threads. All you need to look for to make sure it works with your battery is 510 connection or threads

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Which doesn't work 50% of the time

Sounds like you are heading in a good direction.
Time to stop, get everything in and take a bit of time to try them all out.
Saturate the Cartos well 9Spongy look on top) and let them sit for a bit before use.
The Clearos may take a tank to really start working well.

Good luck and keep us informed on your progress.

Thanks buds.

So today i recieved my clearomizers in the mail.

They are Kanger M3 Clearomizers. They worked great today. More vapor than what I was getting before using the regular cartridges and dripping.

If anyone who has used Kanger M3's before has any tips let me know. And let me know what range I should try to keep the liquid in. I'm guessing I should just try to keep it between .4 ml and . 8 ml or so?

Anyway, these are working great so far.
