With me, it's more an issue of saying no. I have specific people who will randomly ask to bum several cigs a day. But I'm afraid if I say no, they'll stop talking to me or stop asking me to hang out on break. So I'd always do it. And it got expensive. Now I don't have to say no and lie about it. Lying isn't in my nature, and I feel immediately guilty if I lie over something as small as having cigarettes to loan. I also was concerned if I ran out at work, no one would bum me any just because I told them no. I believe that is more the issue than anything else.
I'm just afraid to tell people no. It makes me come off as weak (I think it does), but now it's like too bad so sad, go
buy your own. What's worse is these are people who are "quitting", so they don't
buy their own packs. They just bum off everyone else.
