With me, it's more an issue of saying no. I have specific people who will randomly ask to bum several cigs a day. But I'm afraid if I say no, they'll stop talking to me or stop asking me to hang out on break. So I'd always do it. And it got expensive. Now I don't have to say no and lie about it. Lying isn't in my nature, and I feel immediately guilty if I lie over something as small as having cigarettes to loan. I also was concerned if I ran out at work, no one would bum me any just because I told them no. I believe that is more the issue than anything else.

I'm just afraid to tell people no. It makes me come off as weak (I think it does), but now it's like too bad so sad, go buy your own. What's worse is these are people who are "quitting", so they don't buy their own packs. They just bum off everyone else.

Seriously if you think those people only talked to you or hung out with you because they could mooch off of you ... Why would you want to be friends with them anyways?
It does not make you come off as weak to say no... Actually saying NO is the opposite of that. What are those losers doing with all their money that they cannot buy their own cigs? If they are co-workers then they have a job and a pay check just like you.

My wife, 6 months into my adventure into the world of vaping, still asks me for a lighter. I gave up telling her I don't have one and now just give her the "really" look

hahaha! similar here! i give her the "well, maybe you should quit smoking too." then i get the evil, death-glare. man, if looks could kill...i'd be six feet under. haha. i actually have lit her cigarette once with my smokin' hot coils tho. then put my top cap back on and took a vape and blew a FAT cloud.
