I cannot seem to find an answer to this. I don't know anyone who vaps or whatever you call it and I thought you guys could help. How many puffs do you take? Is it like a ciggarette or do you only take 2 or three at a time? I am asking because I do not want to overdose on nicotine but I am a pack and 1/2 a day smoker. So when you start puffing, how many puffs do you take from your e-ciggarette and do you usually count them to make sure you dont puff too much? Because of course a regular cigg just burns out and you know when to quit lol!

Hello,
I am brand new to E cigarettes, I just got mine in the mail yesterday.

I smoke 2 packs of Marlboro 100's a day, you can adjust the amount of nicotine in the solution that you drip into the e cig.
so to answer your question, you know how you get a tingle in the back of your throat, and you feel that calming effect you feel after a normal cigarette??
these devices are the same there are obvious when you have had enough to satisfy your craving.......I hope that makes sense.......

Well, that's a hard question to answer because everyone is different. Some vape a little here and there, and others tend to chain vape.

I had also been a pack and a half a day smoker. I started vaping at a pretty high nicotine level and sometimes would feel a bit woozy, so I would back off and feel fine. I have since reduced my nic level and don't have that problem anymore.

I don't think you have to worry about overdosing, because like I said, If you start getting too much you will know it because of how you feel, so you just back off a bit.

I've only been vaping for about three weeks now, but I've found that I enjoy vaping more than I enjoyed cigarettes. (Less mess, no unpleasant odor, it doesn't bother my wife at all, I feel better.)

Because of this, I tend to switch up how much I vape at different times of the day, depending upon what I'm doing and where I am. If I'm working, I may only hit my e-cig once or twice every half hour or hour; but if I'm not terribly active, I may end up chain vaping for quite a while before stopping. I'm trying to reduce my dependence on nicotine as I've found in the past that my addiction is just as much to the hand movements and / or oral connection to smoking as it is to the nicotine.

I keep some higher nicotine juices / carts around for times when I feel I need the nicotine hit and I also keep some very low or zero mg nic around for the times when I am just enjoying the vaping experience. As some others here have done, my intention is to work my way off the nicotine totally and ultimately only use the 0mg juices. That will keep my hands busy and satisfy my urge to inhale, while at the same time allowing the nicotine to dissipate completely from my system. I'm not saying this is the ideal scenario for everyone, but it seems to be working for me.

i pretty much chain vape when i am at home. but i bought some pure VG, no nic or flavouring, mixed it whit 10% destilled water and just use that most of the day. when i feel a craving coming on, i use a high nic cartridge for maybe 5 mins of vaping, i suppose i take about 15-20 drags, and then back to the no nic VG. it has a kind of sweet taste and produces loads of vapour, but doesn't give a throat hit. but the good thing is, it doesn't give me a headache

My body tells me when I've had enough, too. I used to smoke a pack-n-a-half of marb lights a day, never felt a buz from it. Started vaping on extra high strength (24-36mg) and was having weird vision issues later in the day (depth perception), zoning out etc. I backed down to zero nic and eventually worked my way back up to 24mg. Now I vape less frequently, 2 or 3 puffs at a time throughout the day, maybe every 20 minutes to hour, but chain vape at night. My tolerance is up so I can vape until slightly nauseous without zoning out or losing depth perception.

If you feel dizzy or nauseous, or find yourself staring off into space, blank faced, you may want to slow down a bit.

You may find that that you can vape yourself into a stooper or nausea and still not feel satisfied enough to leave the smokes alone, this is because of everything else in cigarettes, carbon monoxide for one shuts the body down and greatly assists the calming effect of a smoke. So if you're like me and try to vape until satisfied, you just may find that you can't vape enough nic to feel perfect before getting woozy, and you'd still have to have some will power to quit. even in cases like mine, vapor helps tremendously, I'm smoking 90% less than I was before.

I have found that I vape more frequently, but with longer intervals in between drags, if that makes sense. I've been vaping for about two and a half months now and like an earlier poster said I like it more than smoking so I do it more. It is pretty hard to gauge how much you inhale as there is no duration like a cigarette has, eg, you don't smoke it down to the .... so there's no real way to tell. I feel like I take a few puffs on it and then set it down for a few minutes then I pick it back up and puff a little more.

Same here.

Has anyone else noticed they lost the whole mental time frame thing they had when smoking, like you no longer feel you need to light up right after dinner, or before you get into the car, then again before you enter a store? Probably because we always have the Ecig option ready to fire at will, like a cigarette that never stops burning. Crazy how the burning time of a smoke played such a big part in my daily routine, such a constant waste of time and burden we placed on ourselves. Ecigs make me feel much more free to move about the day as I please. :D

The studies say that we don't get as much nic with an e-cig as with an analog. I wouldn't sweat it too much. But I would get your favorite flavor in at least 2 strenghs..a higher one for the cravings and a lower one for mindlessly chain vaping (like at the computer or in the car).
As everyone says..your body will let you know when you should back off, that's when to switch to the low nic or no nic. Night time is best for lower nic, so you can get some sleep!
I don't vape much durig the day when I am busy..but at night, I chain vape. I use 8mg or no nic for chain vaping.

Welcome to ECF!:)

I completely understand that. Although I've only been vaping for about two weeks, I'm already changing habits. I used to light a smoke on my way to work... right after I drove over a specific bridge... and then finish it and drop it into a water and disgusting .... filled plastic soda bottle at a specific stop light that always seemed to be red. This was two minutes before I got to work, so I could air myself out and get a mint out of my purse. Now I vape all the way there because I can. The first few days I waited for the bridge and then realized....wait...why? lol!

When I first started, I was vaping all the way to work, all the way everywhere, lol. Once I started to calm down on vaping, and the smoking habit was diminishing behind the scenes, I found myself driving all the way to work, or walking up to a storefront from the car (a definite spark up time for me) without ever thinking about the Ecig or anything. I sometimes remember the Ecig is there and then say "oh yeah, a vape would be nice right now". I hardly ever get an urge for it like I did with smokes. there's another thread around here, apparently there are a lot of folks that find they are more addicted to vapor than they were to smoke, I am one of the folks in that thread that can say the opposite. It may not have completely killed my desire to smoke but it has killed that ball and chain of periodic urges throughout the day. The only time I feel the need to constantly shove something in my face is while I'm at the computer at night.

Hey, I resemble that.
I didn't really think of it that way, but when I was smoking, going outside was my trigger. If I was going from one place at work to another I would take the outside path. Lit up a bunch just because of the opportunity to do so. You're right on target there. I cut my nic level back from 36 to 24 to 18 and now after about 15 months I'm at 12mg/ml. It will be a long time before zero will work for me and I don't think there are enough hours in the day to vape 6 or anything close. maybe some day.

Rocket,
24 rocks my boat now

I was just thinking this on my way home in the car. I often felt like I HAD to smoke at certain times (before anything, generally) and now I feel like the pressure is off.
