Boge 2 ohm should be fine on a Riva, you just had bad luck (or bad charger?).

If you can get to $100, I'd suggest trying to last just a bit longer on Riva, save a bit more and go to a notcigs Infinity Pro variable voltage. An IPro with charger and one pair of batteries is $115. Add a second pair of batteries and you're at $123. Take the coupon code (ECF Buzzkill) for 7.5% off, you'll end up at $120 including the S&H.

The IPro is a solid VV, 3.5 - 5.5V, up to 15W (1.5 ohm dual coils at 4.7V), from the vendor who originated production VV. Spin the dial up or down to adjust the voltage based on the particular carto/atty and eliquid you are using. It's a true regulator -- the voltage really stays where you set it until you choose to change it. Stellar customer service. Two ohm or DC cartos will do fine on the IPro, though many people switch to higher ohms (2.5 - 3) for increased run time between charges (I do 6 - 7 ml of vaping at about 8W between battery changes, using the 2.5 - 3 ohm cartos).

Otherwise, Reos does have a very avid following, and I've also heard consistent good things about Great Lakes vaping (GLV) products.

Hey Mark, comment on the size of the IPro in comparison to the Roughstack and the GLV-2? I don't think I am very interested in the GLV since you can't adjust voltage on it, and I think the Reos mods are gonna be a bit out of my budget, but I would be interested in the sizing of the Ipro compared to the Roughstack
