Wow, talk about ironic. I have the P90X videos sitting there waiting for me to get in enough shape to start the program. I tried the workout a couple of times and thought I was going to die so I decided the best approach for me to take would be to quit smoking and get in a little better shape before I start. I have been analog free for over 3 weeks and I have started running a little on the treadmill in preparation for P90X, but I'm not quite there yet. I have noticed that I don't tire as quickly and my breathing is a little better, but just not there yet. Keep me posted on your progress, maybe you'll be an inspiration for me...

I'm pushing 40 and have felt worse and worse as the years go by. It's time to get back in shape. I couldn't have quit the analogs without my 510 and I hope P90X is my magic bullet for exercise.

That is my story also! I started running and swimming to get in better shape just so I could start P90X. Good Luck.:)

+2 ironic ^^^

I acquired the P90x and P90x+ videos a few months ago, quit smoking ~1 month ago and started vaping ~3 weeks ago. I haven't even tried the P90x because I knew after previewing that there was NO WAY I was ready for the intensity.

I've been doing some kayaking as much as possible lately to slowly prepare my body for the shock of what's in store with P90x. My lungs are starting to feel much better, and I don't get as winded with sustained exertion. I can tell my circulation has improved vastly by the fact that my legs and feet don't get as cold anymore. Plus, my arms and legs don't fall asleep nearly as easily as they used to.

Luckily for me, after 20 years of smoking, sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, and general physical neglect, I'm amazingly in decent shape. I'm 185# with normal cholesterol and blood pressure readings - it's just my cardiopulmonary that was really screwed. I always told myself I would quit smoking permanently ~30 and vaping has finally allowed me to do it without fearing relapse.

I'm not yet setting a definite start date for the P90x, but I'm figuring about another month or so, and I'll try it cautiously to see how it goes. I've had some mildly scary experiences with over-exertion in the recent past where I would feel very short of breath, my heart would be pounding to where I could hear the blood pumping in my ears, and I'd get the cold sweats. That's what finally prompted me to come to the realization that I needed to make some changes before it's too late. But now that I've started confidently on that path, I'm going to take it slow and steady. I figure my chances of sticking with it are better if I wait until I'm good and ready.

I wish you guys luck and advise similar caution if you were anything like me. It'd be great information/inspiration to hear more about how things go.

Good luck to all of you. Once we all get going with it we should start a thread in the forum for everything but ecigs and post before and after pics. I'd be willing to do it as long as the results are to my liking. If there not I'll just find some remarkable result pics on the web and post those.

Like you'd ever know anyway...

Hey guys,

I just started what I think is probably my 5th round of P90X this week. For those of you just starting, eating right like the guide shows you is 80% of the battle. Expect two weeks of pain, but after that, man, you'll toughen up fast. It really IS an extreme workout, but it produces extreme results if you stick to it.

A couple of tips for you guys:

* Reebok sells a wrist heart monitor/watch. Buy one, or something similar. Find your max heart rate and your ideal workout heart rate (google it).
* Watch your HR monitor and hit pause when you need to! Tony tells you to do it through all the vidoes. By the end of 90 days you won't hit pause as much, if at all.
* If you want to look like them you have to eat like them. It's diehard and takes a LOT of commitment. Some adhere to it, some don't. They're all healthier for working out...
* Get in the right mindset. Invest 1 hour a day in yourself. If you stop and think about it, that's a small price to pay for what you get out of it. (Believe me!)
* Most of the videos are an hour long. If you want to break in slow a good way I've found is: 1st week - 30 min/night. 2nd week - 45 min/night. 3rd week - full vids. You're still going to hurt, just not as bad.
* Go to the beachbody forums and read read read. If the other people out there doing the X don't inspire you, nothing will.

Sorry if I'm getting long winded... I just love the program. And Yes, my e-Cig has made a world of difference in my workouts/life/etc!

Good luck guys!

Thanks KD! It's a big help to know what to expect. I agree the nutrition plan would have to be a big part of it. I saw on one forum where this guy posted before and after pics of when he did the program, but still ate whatever he wanted. He made dramatic improvements, but then he followed the nutrition guide to a T for a month or so and posted pics. He looked like a completely different person.

Personally, I don't care as much about the results in physique. I would just like to feel better. If I get 6 pack abs and the body of a twentysomething superstar athlete that's just a bonus for my wife, I guess...
