I am not new at all to vaping. I am a forum member on FC and learned of this forum from there. They are primarily a ........ related vaporizer forum and I have 3 vaporizers. Herein lies the problem. It took me about $1000.00 (no kidding) and 11 or 12 vaporizers before I found what really worked. I didn't do my homework...did not explore forums, really.... none of this until I purchased my 7 or 8th vaporizer. I really want to avoid screwing up again. I would really dig knowing what your favorite e cig mod is. I am basically interested in a workhorse model.... doesn't matter if its a tank type, carto based, bottom feeder, etc.

I am leaning towards a Rio Grand... but! Please let me know what you like the most. I just want to buy a single mod that will make me happy for at least a couple of years. Has yours kept you happy for two years? Can you take yours with you away from home easily? Is it available in a kit?

I know this is really pushing the envelope to ask you for your time and opinion. It's not done lightly. Thank you all for your help. Tortoise

Well, the unfortunate answer is that you might not know exactly what you need until you get one and start learning.
But the Reo Grand has as many fans as anything else I've seen.

If you don't care about a juice feeding mod, then the ProVari is a great choice.
If you don't care at all what it looks like, then the Darwin might be a good choice too.

My suggestion would be to buy a cheaper starter kit and get used to using an electronic cigarette.
Figure out what you like and don't like, what you need and don't need.

And then you can jump into something expensive that should give you what you're looking for.
The technology is increasing by leaps and bounds, more and more quickly every day, so that is another good reason to take it slow.

Hi, tortoise! Welcome to ECF! I have heard the Rio Grand is great...but I don't know for sure. You will get lots of answers and suggestions here soon...I just wanted to say Hi. I actually have gone through several pvs looking for the magic one...and I'm happy with what I'm using. (I've been vaping for over 7 months...) I use the eGo and the Riva. I have just ordered the eGo-T which is the latest greatest "non-mod" system. You might check it out. They're pretty new, but several vendors are selling them. Do a search for the eGo-T and you'll find some threads talking about it. I have a mod, but I'm finding it quite tempermental so I'm not going to mention it. I'll let others address that. There are people on here who have at least one of each....LOL.

You should get your post count up so you can go into a more advanced area of ECF. While we do get all kinds in the new members forum, I suspect that most of the people who use the mods are in a different area -- more often anyway. I could be wrong.

Hey DC2, where do they hang out besides the new members forum (don't say outside... don't say outside... don't say outside....) ?

I don't have a mod but if I were to buy one I would look for something that is adjustable variable voltage so that you can dial in your perfect temperature vape! That way you don't end up with another vaporizer in your collection that didn't satisfy! When I make a investment in one that's the route i'm going!

Hey DC2, where do they hang out besides the new members forum (don't say outside... don't say outside... don't say outside....) ?
Mostly here, but I check out the General Discussion, Polls, E-Cigarette News, Campaigning, and Success Stories subforums.
I went into the Outside subforum once, and I won't be doing that again.

Workhorse is REO Grand's middle name :)

Seriously, holds 6mil of juice. You can use 3.7v batts with 1.5-2.0 ohm attys for vaping that will last you all day, or ratchet it up with 5v or 6v batts with high ohm attys. All mechanical, washes out in hot water, and built of a solid piece of aluminum.

Ill 2nd that :)

Hi DC2. I do have to slow down a bit. You are absolutely right about taking one's time in the higher priced models. The technology is changing and you never know whats going to hit the streets tomorrow. I'm still attracted to the REO strictly because of it's low tech charm. A few different voltages via battery combos and changes (but batts and chargers add up too), and an analog electrical as well as delivery system. But, alas. Here I go again, selling myself on a product that I know nothing about in an industry sense. I browsed the web a bit and am taking your advice as well as everyone here. I looked up the Riva's and ego-t that JCnewbie suggested. It seems the Riva 510 can be had for less than I bought this e cig I've been using from the local fast stop. So. Your advice is taken and I thank you for your time. I'm ordering the Riva latter today and am going to sit on the decision process for a bit. Tortoise.

I, like you, spent a lot of money on PVs, and the search ended when I bought my first REO. Go for it! You won't ever regret it.

But.. I just finished my note to DC2 and I browsed back over this thread.... wow! The RIO is really well liked. And it's not a coincidence I'm sure that there are so many that really like this thing. I did check out the REO site and it is going to be a few weeks after the mini's are up before the Grands are ready. I'm going to go ahead and grab a Riva 510 to get me by and also get an order in on the Grand.

Hi JC. I think I'm really going to order a Rio Grand. There is a wait for them so I'm ordering one of your suggestions today. I found the Riva 510 kit for $39. If it were you which way would you go? The Riva 510 or an Ego 510 starter kit in the $59 range? What has the most versatility, and which has the best delivery in your opinion. I really like a full throaty hit. I figure that if I'm going to get a Reo latter that the Ego tank would be a duplication of the Reo.... being that they both drip to the atty. Please let me know your opinion on that if you would. Thanks all around for your help. Tortoise

The Riva510 and the eGo are going to perform exactly the same except that the Riva510 is 750mah vs 650mah for the eGo.. so the Riva510 will last about an hour longer between charges.

You can get the Riva510 for $34 or the eGo for $40 here: 20% off your whole order!

DON'T FORGET TO BUY ABOUT 40ML OF VARIOUS E-JUICES... people usually do well with 24mg but get a variety just in case.
