Hey this might be newbie stuff, but I keep having to log into this forum, at very short intervals. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

--Hi my name is Clinton and I'm addicted to :vapor:

Btw I'm really in love with ECF, and the great people involved with and in it :)
I only wish I'd found it sooner.

I'm not having that issue. Sounds like the cookie is being deleted/over-written or you might be pulling a cached page. Also remember if you completely close the browser and have it set to delete on exit, you will have to log in again as it deleted the login cookie when you closed it out entirely.

When was the last time you cleared the temp files and your browser cache?

I never had that issue as a new member.

I've run into that issue before on other sites. The only time where I had a similar issue, I wasn't at home and needed to clear the cache on that PC. (I never check remember on public computers, for those who are new to computers.) Because it was pulling up old pages as if I was logged out, even when the cookie indicated I should be logged in. Or the cache was so full that it was wiping the cookie out to make room for more cached pages.

I have everything set to delete on exit anyway.
I have to log in each time the computer is shut down or when I close the browser.

Up where you log in, check the "stay logged in box" the next time you log in. You will stay logged in forever.

Welcome to ECF from a Jayhawker (born in Wichita, HS in Derby).

I don't seem to have that button :( just a "Remember me" button?
I'm running on Ubuntu with Fire fox though so this wouldn't be the first time things got weird. I connected my facebook now so hopefully that will make a difference.

I'm glad someone will know what I'm talking about when I say Rock Chalk :)

I'm acctually running several sites with no issue while running this one and every time I get back to this tab I have had to log back in, but I haven't checked again sense I've connected my FB so that might be a round about fix. Anyway my guess is my issue is more of a Linux compatibility issue than a cookie/cache issue, as I have problems with a few other sites like Yahoo in particular.

Thanks to all :) I will report back when I see if the FB connection is a fix or no

Another linux user.... YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Moving on, I know what the problem is, its a two parter the first part is that the ECF cookie is only temporary as I believe that it will only persist for 15 mins, and the second problem is you cache is filling up quick fast, try upping the amount of you can, hope this helps...

Not a Linux specific issue at all. Typically it is a browser/browser settings issue, and not with just that one browser. :)

FF does have the option to 'delete all' on exit which will include the cookies.
Also if you are browsing in private mode that could be contributing to the problem too.

By checking "remember me" you are extending the cookie not to expire.
