I'm not sure where this goes, please move if it's in the wrong place...

But I made my own coil! The gauge that came with my EhPro was supposedly 32g but it took 10 wraps around a q-tip to make 1.3 Ohms. I used Cellucotton, and my 100% vg actually has a more pronounced taste!

Yay me!:)

Congrats on making your own coils is so much better than anything you can buy premade, and you don't have to pay a shop to build it for you.

Did you vape pure VG without any flavoring? I tried that and I just got headaches.

I think the rebuildables are going to be my favorite thing from now on. Too bad I only have 2!

Rebuilding can be fun especially after building a tough build that actually looks and works good, but too much building can get boring and make you lazy, I use to build something just about everyday, but now have been using the same coil for 3 weeks. One thing you could do is build some extra coils and set them aside in case you need a quick coil change or if you're ever too tired or lazy to build and for those times when a new built coil doesn't work like you'd hope.

Congrats Bamani, that's great! Sounds like you're off to a good start and working with reasonable resistance levels which is very good.

Is the build a dual-coil? The reason I ask is that 12 wraps around a Qtip with 32ga my guess is that you'd end up with something in the 2.0ohm range. What RDA are you building on currently?

It's the EhPro Kayfun Lite Plus. I was expecting much higher as well. But I got it used, so I can't guarantee the gauge. I'll be making a trip tomorrow to my local B&M to grab some more Kanthal so I know what I'm getting!

Yeah, it starts you on a whole new path in this vaping journey. I bought my first kaufun a couple of months ago plus a couple of drippers. Wrapped my first coil at 3+ohms...not quite my goal but figured WTH...tried it out...nope, back to the drawing board. Finally got it right at 1.8ohms...6 wraps of 32ga around a 1/16 drill bit. Made coils for the 2 drippers...then coils for all of my bcc tanks. Then all of the spare used bases got coils to act as backups. Two feet of wire and 1 cotton ball. I can almost wrap a coil with my eyes closed but I'm all out of things to put coils in. Guess it's time to go shopping because I still have 28 feet of wire and a whole bag of cotton balls.

If I may, I would suggest that you buy the smallest quantities they have available, and once you find something you like working with, buy it on line. You can pick up resistance wire in almost every case for less than $10 for a 100 foot spool.

Congrats hon on building you first coil, it makes this hobby so much more enjoyable when you can say I made that. I rebuild everything I can to save money, but that me. Like op try small pieces from a b&m till you see what you like and then buy a spool.

Temco has spoils for 6 bucks. I like 30 for my pt and small tank coils. Kayfun 28 and mech lower as well.

TEMCo Kanthal A1 Wire 30 Gauge 100 FT (0.39oz) Resistance Resistor AWG A-1: Electrical Wires: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

Welcome to the world of rebuilding!

I just did this last night for the first time. I bought a couple feet of wire, 32g and some 28g....and some rayon for the wicks. Got it from my local vape shop, they even gave me a quick tutorial. I built a protank 2 coil and on the first try it came in at 2.6 ohms and have been vaping it at 10-11 watts on my Vtr. Flavor is incredible, but it really sucks up the juice!!

Figured I would get my feet wet before I buy that sweet black Kayfun!

Congrats, it is very satisfying ....I can't wait to build more...lol!

My first build on a kayfun was 4.8 ohms!! I can relate. However, now I have no idea how I did that since I struggle getting my builds over 1.0. Wish I could build them to be used on my Vamo 5s.

Congrats! You'll soon be experimenting with different wire and coils, looking for your individual sweet spot. Every new coil I build gets added to a personal database I'm building, along with comments about flavor and cloud density with different flavors. This allows me the ability to go back to something I know works well as I continue to experiment.
