My friend wants to get his Dad an e-cig for Christmas. He wants a ciga-like device because he doesn't want his Dad to feel uncomfortable at work or in public when he's using it. Probably because he see's how many times I get the "Whatcha smok'in in that thing?" question with my device. From the multiple recommendations I've seen on ECF, I told him to check out the Volt-Pro starter kit. Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette I've never owned a ciga-like or any type of 808 device or any type of automatic battery. So what I need to know is - What else would my friend need to buy to make his Dad's experience with this little 808 easy and painless?

The eroll is much more limited in its function. If someone vapes like they smoked, it is a great setup. Once they get vapeing like most people vape, and start chain vapeing it won't last him more than 10 minutes.

My suggestion would be to also get him some ce3's or nano's and a bottle of juice (Smokeless Image's Ry4 is well recieved). It makes refilling much easier.

Thank for the help. Were you talking about a needle bottle? I didn't really look through their site much until now. I want to make sure everything from using to buying parts is easy. After looking through the web site, it looks like they have all their bases covered. The video's will be helpful for him. The prices aren't bad either.

If you got the volt then get the cartosmizers with the flavor he likes. I suggest having two batterys, one for vaping the other on charge.
If this is the first time get a sampler pack. So he can find a flavor he likes. Then Stock up. Have back up's for the back up's.

It's the two battery kit with a PCC. His Dad works a 12 hr shift so the PCC will most likely be a must. It comes with some prefilled samples. I think I'm going to tell him to get some unfilled and a bottle of RY4. I make my own liquid and use double RY4 flavoring. It's good stuff. I also told him to hit a local vape shop. They let you try out all their liquid. At least he can get a sense of what he likes. Then I'll get him set up with some DIY. The guy rolls his own smokes so I'm sure he wouldn't want to spend money on pre-made juice all the time.

Buying juice instead of a pack.
I think he'd find it easier and more convenient to get premade.

I agree with Chief - some cartomizers will be the easiest thing to use. Sample packs, and some blanks. Once he finds a flavor he really likes he can get a bottle of juice.
The Ce3s are fiddly, and there have been mixed reviews on the nanos. So having some cartomizers is good. If he wants to try the other things he'll have cartomizers as a back up if he doesn't like them.

RY4 is a popular flavor from SI. They also are carrying a whole new e-liquid range but I haven't tried them.

I would recommend the 78mm Volts - still cig size but 320mah so last longer between charges. Later on he might like a more cigar size X2 and can still use the same cartomizers with it.

Good luck!

I finally converted my brother with a variable voltage Vision Spinner and some clearomizers. I bought him several cart-ecig style (808/510) kits but he constantly ran them dry while working. He now has a 1300mAh Vision Spinner and several 2 to 2.8 0hm clearos and has nearly reduced his 2 PAD habit in half in two weeks! The spinner also comes in a shorter 600mAh and 400mAh version too. Being able to see the fluid level and adjust or "dial" in the vapor production seemed to make it stick for him. I'm giving this combo out as stocking stuffers for several smokers, even the ones i wouldn't miss", this year. Check out Madvapes LLC - E Cigarettes, Electronic Cigarettes, Vaping Supplies they seem to keep up with stock and have good prices. Hope all goes well! PS- Try some 24mg strength or 36mg for the switch, then taper off if need be. Myself?... I still vape 36mg and have been vapeing for 3+ years, just don't like to chain vape. Take care!

Yeah. Is he a menthol or regular cig smoker? I just suggest getting him a sampler pack or 2, and a bottle of ry4 juice and some blank carts to keep him going once he finds out what he likes. The 5 prefilled carts that come with the kit will likely only last him a couple of days. If he's a menthol smoker, just order carts of ice menthol and a bottle of juice. Probably starting at 18 mg.

I just bought a kit for a smoking couple that don't really read the internet much. I bought a starter kit with two batteries (no PCC) plus two of the X2s (passthroughs). I sent a manual and automatic of each type. For cartos I bought sample packs some in 12 (desserts) and some in 18mg (tobaccos) with two packs of RY4s. I should have included the car USB adapter, but I forgot. In their case I thought separate juice and blanks would confuse them. I may send them later if they are actually using the kit, because using pre-filleds is expensive and limiting.

IMHO the PCCs are a waste and a pain to have to recharge two things. Having extra batteries for the same money extends the vaping time and you can actually use them to vape. The PCC is kind of cool 'gadget' though when you are starting out.

I agree cartomizers are just plain easy... and the 78mm. I wanted him to get his dad something with an ego, kgo, or vision battery with 2-3 times more life and a 510 connection but he insists his Dad probably won't use it unless it looks like a cigarette so I figure the 78's and a PCC is the way to go.

Well, it's not really a pain. When I used the PCC I always charged my batts from there and just kept the PCC charged. The problem being, how many batteries can you carry around at a time vs 2 batts and a PCC? Plus it replaces the feel of a pack of smokes.

Also, I recommend the key chain case from SI. It is really useful. Best $4 I ever spent vapeing.

A couple extra battery's instead of the case is a good idea. The PCC is kind of cool though.

Good point about the pack. It's been so long since I've smoked, I forgot a smoker is programmed to carry a pack.

To each's own though. I quit using mine when I started pretty fast and just carried batteries to get me through the day and charged in my car. I really liked passthrus for car and computer time. So much of vaping equipment preferences are where and how you do it.

He may vape just to get to use the cool PCC.

The mega PCC is cool - charge one and holds another one. Can choose it with the pro kit. Also I read that the standard PCC may not work well with the manual batteries. I don't know what the budget is here but an extra battery would be $13.

I don't know how tech savvy his Dad is but I wouldn't even want to try to explain a PCC to my Dad. He has a hard enough time hooking up VCR or logging into Windows.

I'm not sure what the budget is either. I'd go with a ProVari...lol! Maybe a Zen Hybrid for good measure.;)
