disclaimer: Electrician I'm not.
I have a BB (and an SB but that's not an issue I think). The only protected 3.0v CR2's I've found are those green ultrafires. It seems that the threshold atomizer resistance on my application is right at 2.8 - 2.9 ohms.
So, 901s work fine. I thought KR808D cartomizers worked fine until I ran into about 8 of them that clocked in between 2.7 - 2.9 ohms... doh. I like using cartomizers a good bit. I suppose I could absorb about 2 boxes I have stocked but I'm worried that the next ones might be the same.
What I'm looking for is some easy solution that wouldn't require any permanent modifications. Like maybe a thin disk of some material to drop in under the spring or maybe a spring of a different material. The one in there now is stainless. Anybody have any ideas?
