-Turtleship v2 (clone) & Smoktech Magneto v2
-IGO W3
-Organic Cotton Balls
-Efest 18650 1600 mAh 3.7V battery - being charged by an Efest Soda charger
-32 gauge kanthal wire

I'm still new to sub-ohm vaping and I have decided to purchase an entirely new set up and to use my smok magneto for sub-ohm as well. It'd be much appreciated if anyone could give me any thorough advice before I try any of this out or buy any of it. Thank you in advace!

That battery (provided it's a 30 amp battery) should be ok at .2 or .3 and above.

On a freshly charged battery reading 4.2 volts with a .2 ohm coil that would be drawing 21 amps. (.1 ohms and it's drawing 42 amps and that would be very dangerous) .3 ohms and it's only 14 amps.

I just got a couple of Sony VTC4's and they are awesome, I highly recommend them but the eFests should do you well for now.

Regarding the 32 gauge kanthal, IMO you will have a hard time getting sub-ohms with that gauge. According to my "Vaper's toolbox" android app... Shooting for a .5 ohm dual coil build... a 2 mm inner diameter dual coil would only require 2 wraps per coil. Even a quad coil only requires 5 wraps.

I would suggest getting some 28 gauge for sub-ohms!

You could take 3 strands of the 32ga and twist them into one strand with a drill. That way you will not need as many wraps to obtain a lower ohm. Ive been using the 30amp 1600mah E-fests for about 5 months with no problems but I never go lower than .5 ohms. I did just pick up 4 of the purple 35amp E-fests today to replace the 1600mah ones.

If your planning on sub-ohm vaping you need two things.

1. A DMM/ohm reader
2. An understanding of ohms law and the ability to calculate current/resistance/voltage.

Understand that these are powerful batteries and if mistreated things can be very dangerous.

It's not hard, really. You just need some foresight.

If you want more info about using your DMB or calculating amps in a DC circuit let me know. I am always willing to help.

I'll put a plug in for the Magneto V2. I have one and love it. Nice threads, solid and I really like the telescoping and adjustable 510 pin feature. It's heavy but feels really nice in the hand.

Here's mine in the middle with a Patriot clone RDA attached...

Here's a better pic with an EHPro Kayfun lite attached

I don't love the mod choice, but it will work. I really like the looks of the turtleship, but that open bottom button is asking to be set down and fire. I suppose if you have it set up to sub ohm you will know if it fires when you set it on your desk.

Ruby Roo recently did a review on the Turtleship mini and had issues with the button spring being too soft and the positive pin being too short. Hopefully that is not an issue with the 18650 version, but you might check out some reviews to be sure.

Other than that, I would throw in some 28 gauge Kanthal. It is easier to coil sub ohm with larger wire because small wire gives much higher resistance, forcing you to wrap small coils to get the heat up. Larger wire carries more electrons, so a larger coil will still be low resistance, if that makes sense.

I have absolutely no idea about calculating amps in a DC circuit.

The Turtleship's button has a lock ring, I don't think there'd be any problems with misfires. Thanks for the look out though!

I have absolutely no idea about calculating amps in a DC circuit.

It's pretty simple/ Just google Ohm's law calculator. You can assume the max voltage as 4.2 when it comes fresh off a charger. Plug in that voltage and the resistance of your coil and it will calculate the current draw. Then compare that with the max continuous draw rating for the battery you are using, making sure to leave a little headroom. I would try to stay within 75% or so at first.

You'll have to run duals to even get to subΩ with 32g kanthal, but you didn't say what your coil target was and why?

T

This is going to be my first time ever making an attempt at sub ohm vaping, I've decided to go with 28g kanthal after getting some advice from a friend and with the help of some other people on here. I'm kind of a noob at this  so I don't really have a coil target, my main goal as of now is to get a deeper understanding of sub ohm vaping and to not blow my face off in the process of doing while taking my first draw. When I get the hang of everything, I'll start to play around with the resistance a little bit

Locking rings only work if you want to lock them every time you set it down. That isn't ideal. Nobody wants to lock the ring every single time they set down their mod for 2 seconds.

Just did it! Probably one of the most straight-forward, easy-to-comprehend things I've ever read. Thanks for the look out
