I got diagnosed with chronic gastritis and ulcers, and my doctor said that any nicotine at all makes this condition worse. The H Pylori test was negative, which means it has something to do with my living habits. I don't drink (never have), I don't take advils or aspirins (only in the past were taken infrequently), I don't drink coffee anymore, don't eat spicy foods, and I haven't had a normal old cigarette since 2012. I think then, sadly, this means I have to quit vaping.

But I don't want to start smoking old cigarettes again in some kind of nicotine fit panic. I never want to even touch them again. I am a pretty addictive person, generally speaking - thankfully I've never touched hard drugs. ECigs was the only way I quit smoking, and now I feel so scared and lost at the prospect of quitting vaping.

How can I do it? Has anyone done it here, or have you had a friend/relative do this successfully? Any tips?

I agree on trying to reduce your nic level. And, just as a thought, you might consider getting a second opinion - just to be absolutely sure the nic is the problem....

I will also tell you that after 40-years of smoking, I've dropped my nic level down to 6 recently. I'm pretty sure that if worse came to worse I could go down even further. You don't have to quit vaping - you just may have to reduce your nic level (maybe to zero, but that's why I'd get a second opinion).

I too suffer from a lot of G.I issues or did rather when I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day! Since switching to vaping only almost 4 months ago they have drastically been reduced! I did have a positive H. Pylori test and do have to take lots of NSAID's in my circumstances. Just so you know, and as a person who worked in the healthcare industry for a long time and in the lab even, those tests, especially certain ones are not all that accurate! The prev pack also don't necessarily "cure" the G.I issues though it did seem to help some.

I recently discovered that some people suffer from not ENOUGH stomach acid! Especially people who have been on strong acid reducers long term so this can create a "rebound" effect, which of course is GREAT for Big Pharma, as those acid reducers are NOT cheap and most people are on them long term! A good way to test for this is to take a swig of apple cider vinegar, (ugh, no can do for me!), pickle juice, or something similar. If it helps then you've discovered which is the case and you can then take that to your doctor or better yet research supplements that help with it! I also found that yogurt helps a lot with mine especially with the bifodobacterium.

In short, while you may very well need to reduce your nicotine levels if it's not agreeable to you, you still have the option as others mentioned to vape zero nicotine liquids, cut back on the amount you vape and look into some "natural" ways to reduce your G.I issues. For me nicotine helps too much with my ADHD to remove it from my regime, but to each their own and whatever works! Best of luck to you!

My sister had the EXACT same diagnosis a year after she stopped smoking and migrated to e-cigarettes. Fortunately, she found the cause - it was certain e-liquids. She was a huge fan of all the different fruit flavors, and either something or some additive within those caused her issues. She then switched to a very basic mint flavor. Propelyene glycol and mint essential oil, and her ulcer complaints vanished as did her chronic gastritis (she also was told by a friend of hers to deep boil vegetables on a daily basis and eat them as it soothes ulcers).

Have a read through some of your e-liquids, and experiment.. buy and make your own using minimalist ingredients and see how you get on (if it improves your symptoms).

This is an excellent idea, along with maybe getting to 0 nic. Good luck. I have GI issues also.

Why do you like it? I always assumed unflavored was, well, unflavored.

a lot of people say it tastes like a light cig. I am no gourmet - to me it is unoffensive, that is, it is never unpleasant. I can't really describe it. I have a hard time finding liquids I like and even when I do, some days I like them and some days I don't. I always like unflavored :) (I use 6mg nic, 50/50 pg/vg)
