Thanks to TB once again for his regular insightful commentary.

I put in an order with Get snus. I'll find the appropriate place on the forum for my noobie review.

Any one use a humidor with snus? Is there any value to this?

Join us in the Smokeless Tobacco forum Illuminate. The "What's Under Your Lip..." thread has become a sort of "watercooler" gathering spot.

As for a humidor, I've read of folks using them but for the most part if your going to use a can in a week or so, no need. Refigerate if the can will be more than a week or so is not unreasonable. For stockpiling, make sure the cans are airtight, I wrap them in saran, and freeze em'.

OTD, I was looking at the getsnus site you told me about and was trying to figure out what to order. I kinda like the flavor of the camel frost so I was thinking about the general mini mint. Do you think that would be a good choice? Also it said it was a 6g package. I don't know how much that is compared to how many come in the camel tin since that is the only one I have ever tried.

High hittman, from the getsnus site:
    Nicotine: approx. 4 mg/portion.
One can contains 20 portions @ 0.3gr each.

So each portion is 0.3 grams of snus for a total of 6grams per can. I recently got the Mini Mints myself and they are just like popping a mint candy. Tasty!

If you like the mint flavor in things I'll go out on a limb and suggest this for a first order.
    1 can each
General Mini Mint - 4mg nic per portion, candy :)

Thunder Frosted Mini - 8mg per portion, similar to the General in size and taste with twice the nic

Ettan Original Portion - 8mg per portion, classic Swedish flavor, but on the mild side

That would give you an inexpensive start, make sure and select one of those as your first order free can, cover your preference for mint and the Ettan for a milder straight tobacco flavor.

Getsnus is out of some of the stuff and have a 1-2 week wait time. Do you think it would be worth the wait or should I order from one of the other sites you mentioned before?

Try the General Wintergreen instead of the Thunder Frosted. Close to flavor, same nic, white portion instead of a mini, and it's my absolute favorite :)

I don't really want to get addicted to these...

Maybe you shouldn't look at it as an addiction. I see your point and understand why you would feel this way, not long ago I did, too. Now I know that, to be the fully functioning human I was before I quit the smokes, I need something to assist my brain chemistry. Cigarettes were a form of self-medication that supplied the maoi's I needed to keep everything in balance, my body couldn't do it alone, nor ever will. Some are born this way, some become this way through trauma and some become dependant through chemical abuse (including tobacco). Not all smokers fall into this catagory, but many do. If this is the case, there's no changing it, we just have to deal with it. That might include the use of psychiatric drugs, but if the smokes work, so should another form of tobacco. Burning tobacco is the killer. Snus of the Swedish variety has been studied and no adverse effects to health found. Some might look at it as trading off in tobacco addiction, for me it's survival without the side effects of Big Pharma. If it were just an addiction, I would have made it with my PV.

However, I have to wonder if a higher nic level would help me past the cravings too.

E-liquid doesn't contain the alkaloids found in tobacco. Low nicotine contributes to craving, insomnia and a feeling of too much oxygen, but not much in the way of fuzzy thinking and definitely not continued depression. The best way to test this is boost your level and stay there for a week or 2 (no smokes allowed). If the craving goes away at first, but returns or never goes away, you need more than the stripped down nic molecule. Same applies if the fuzzy thinking or loss of mental focus, including depression continues or comes back.
I followed the example set by OTD. He started vaping long before I did, but was never able to shake 1 or 2 smokes a week and was still mentally struggling like a greased cat trying to crawl out of a hole in the ice. The snus put him back together and the smokes went away. He's still kinda nutty, but I think that's just him :).

Hittman: You've been given good advice, and this is about the last bastion of sanity on this forum where posters rarely, rarely scream at each other. (An occasional happy bunny thumps through to spread the gospel of e-smoking being the end-all to every smoker's needs, but, for the most part, you read realists here. We sometimes shoot happy bunnies.)
....ain't it the truth.......... Here's where the "Red Badge of Courage" has been fought for and won :).

Twisted, I think you are right. I did quit smoking completely and only vaped for 8-9 weeks but I never really felt satisfied even after chain vaping for 10-15 minutes. I used one snus yesterday and two today and could feel my old level of alertness returning to me and had no cravings today. I do believe I need something else besides the nicotine. The e-cigs are good and carry me through most of the day but I never got the feeling that I did like when I used the snus. I started this thread because I had started smoking one or two every day or so after not having smoked for the 8-9 weeks. I was feeling depressed. I think part of it was that I felt like I had failed by smoking again but I think that most of it was from me missing the maoi's or something. I did not realize it until I used the snus but I had become less alert or something over time from not getting those chemicals.

Thanks Twisted! You know, I might have said this before but I thought I had the smoking beast defeated but it was just resting waiting to come back. This is harder than I thought it would ever be but thanks to you, OTD, TB, and many others here that help others like myself, it is a little easier. I will go check out the link you posted for me.
