Good choice on the Bloog Maxx Fusion. I wish I had found ECF before I bought my KR-808D1 kit from a shady vendor. It would have saved a lot of customer service headaches and I too would now own a Maxx Fusion. You sure did your homework up front.

Lurking here was also therapeutic while I made the switch. Being a non-smoker really freaked me out after smoking so long and I liked reading everyone's stories. Now I am a juice junky.

So many great e-juices and so little time.:vapor:

LOL! Coffee tastes GREAT with BwB Casablanca --- better than a cig (now) --- I actually look forward to getting up in the morning!

I'm a BWB Casablanca junkie too. Mine is 10 days old and it still keeps getting better. I quickly ordered 2 new bottles in reserve steeping. Love the stuff.

Not to high jack, but how do you get a counter banner for messages? I'm a newbie too.

So many great e-juices and so little time.:vapor:

Thank you so much! You're very sweet!

The reason I felt this would work is because it felt like more of a lateral move than quitting smoking. Which I believe is something I can do. I hope!? I know I'm addicted to nicotine, and I really don't care. There's just a lot about smoking that I'm tired of.

I think it's exactly that - a lateral move and therefor an inherently easy transition. Since you do want to quit and use e-cigarettes as a tool to assist you with that plan, please check out the many available stop smoking sites online for tips. The more information and tools that you have at your disposal, the better, right?

I LOVE smoking, or thought I did. What I "loved" was the nicotine fix. I still get that with the vaping but I also get all those wonderful benefits of not smoking tobacco. I'm so excited for you! You are going to experience vaping for the first time. It is so great!

I understand about your daughter. You bet it's going to be hard, but good hard, know what I mean? I'm glad you have the Skype, and I am empathetic to your situation. If you can, try to find a way to make it a positive transition for you both. It must be very hard on her to be leaving. Best of luck to both of you.

Tell me about what you bought? I am new here and new to vaping myself, so I am curious as to why you bought what you bought and all that.

I JUST got mine today and am excited about it! I know, it doesn't take much...but. once you post so many comments you simply click on a banner that you like. It will bring up a window where you insert your personal info, copy it and then go to your profile setting under signatures. choose image, paste, save and you are done.

There is a post about it under the new member stickies which tells you the number of posts required and stuff.

I looked at several of the recommended e-cigs in the review section of the forum, and the Bloog Maxx Fusion just sounded like it had everything I was looking for. I wanted it to be simple, work extremely well, and look like a cigarette but not, if you know what I mean. I picked the silver batteries because I thought they looked pretty cool! And the menthol carts because that's what I've always smoked. Though I'm thinking all these flavors sound pretty nice. I just never cared for regular cigarettes.

I don't have to tell you it's as much psychological as physical, but I can attest to most of the success stories shared with one of my own. I stopped smoking analogs immediately after receiving my Joye eGo and haven't looked back. I took one drag off of my brother's cig (just to see how it tasted), and that was enough for me.

Now, I haven't smoked nearly as long as you have (I'm 38 years old, after all); I started smoking VERY late in life at the age of 34, but once it's a habit I consider us all to be pretty equal in the eyes of cancer. The only side effect I've experienced from vaping is from the vapor acting as a humectant...I've been a little dehydrated. Nothing a few good glasses of water won't cure. I consider this almost too neglible to mention...

I think you're doing yourself a favor starting w/the 24mg e-juice...I also chose to go with a high concentration, and I really enjoy it for the throat hit if for nothing else. I do find this sensation to be diminished on my unit when using either cartridges or cartomizers, but I don't believe you'll have much choice when using the Bloog...you'll pretty much have to use cartridges given the nature of your e-cig. Then again, the throat hit might be okay given you're a menthol smoker, which I really wasn't.

My brother and his wife are both making the transition to just using PV's, and they are also doing it by cutting down on analogs rather than cutting them completely out. My wallet did dictate my choice somewhat, but I'm glad I chose to just forgo the old habit for the new one. Since I can smoke the PV at whim it's been relatively easy for me to stay satisfied.

When you're out and about use your new PV as often as possible...I vape in public much more often than I ever smoked in public. I believe another side effect of vaping to be advocacy, and you'll find yourself striking up many a conversation extolling the pros of this wonderful product.

I wish the best of luck my friend, and welcome back to a smoke-free existence!

VAPE ON!

Thanks for the info. I just found that stickie. I think those sig banners are pretty cool. Cartons for me were $101.34 so my numbers should be pretty impressive. I hope it doesn't ask how much I've spend on juice so far.

Don't vape all that Casablanca before the cocoa subtleties comes out. It's pretty tasty right from the get go.

Newme,
Great choice, welcome to vaping and ECF!
Try not to stress out about vaping, or smoking. I always tell people to try it, but if you want to smoke, smoke. I have found most people are able to make the transistion away from smoking very simple when vaping. I smoked for 38 years and had resigned to the fact that I would smoke all my life also realizing that it was going to kill me.
Vaping has given me a new grip on life and I am feeling so much better about my choice to vape vs. smoking. I really didn't think I could quit and I have. I am much happier and feel as though I have given myself a second chance.

One other hint - don't overdo vaping, especially at the start. Your nictone level should be able right if you vape about as much as you smoked or even a bit more. And drink fluids to keep your mouth moist. Vaping can be more drying than smoking.

Most of the health problems I do hear about are in people who immediately start vaping constantly and often with their full normal nicotine level and starting 100% PG juice. Doing that can lead to headache and other symptoms of too much nicotine, and extremely sore mouth and throat and even lungs from vaping constantly, especially with 100% PG juices which can be harsher than blends like 70pg/30vg etc.

So just don't go overboard, especially in the beginning. If you want to go overboard, then buy some much lower nicotine or even 0 nic cartos for those times.

re separation anxiety from cigarettes - I actually carried my cigarettes in my other pocket (not their usual one) for the first 2 weeks of vaping. But I didn't need them and moved them to the car trunk in case of ecig hardware emergency, and I have never needed that pack. I did have a few instances when I got caught out with no charged battery (my own fault) and had to smoke 1 cig while I waited for one battery to charge enough to start using it while I charged the other. But cigs taste really bad after you start vaping so I was was happy to get back on the battery! I did buy more batteries and chargers for home and work, PCC, and emergency passthrus for home and work (which I have never needed now that I am loaded with batteries).

Some other things that made it easier for me... The cigs I do have around for emergencies are not my old faves. And I have enough batteries to leave my e-cig set up overnight while charging my other batteries. That way I don't have to disassemble it before bed and it is ready and waiting for me in the morning with no assembly.

And another encouragement - many people on this board are accidental quitters - people who just got an e-cigarette out of curiosity and were surprised they didn't need to smoke cigarettes any more.

Welcome to ecf! You've gotten a lot of good information here. I just thought I'd add my own experience to perhaps alleviate some of your anxiety.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 40 years. I did not originally intend to quit smoking. I enjoyed smoking, but the cost was getting outrageous. I ordered my first e-cig thinking I would supplement my smoking and perhaps save some money. My intentions were to cut my smoking in half. I was totally unprepared for the fact that I might actually prefer vaping. I have now completely quit cigarettes.

If you go into this with the idea that you can't smoke, there will be an anxiety factor that will be difficult to overcome. Not having a pack of cigarettes with me in case my batteries ran out or whatever would have been a real problem for me. I continued to carry a pack around for a long time. The first time I accidentally went out without my cigarettes was kind of liberating, however. I know this sounds sadistic, but I always smile when I remember the time my husband wanted to bum a cigarette off me and I had to tell him sorry, I didn't have any on me or in the car. He was just sol!

Don't worry about quitting all in one day. Just try to vape instead of smoke when you are having a craving. Honestly, I've quit many times (cold turkey, patch, gum, chantix, you name it). I smoked for 25 years about a pack a day. This has been the easiest way by far. You may, like many, find you prefer vaping to smoking. I don't feel I've "given up" anything really, which almost seems like cheating. :)

I started less than a month ago with a kit from someone else, I was smoking Marlboros about 2 cartons a week for about 30 years. I switched to a Bloog Maxfusion and love it. I haven't quit analogs yet I hate to say but I only bought 3 packs last week. I work at a reception center prison for the state so would definately say that there is some stress involved. I am encouraged had very little side effects which were caused by my own stupidity. Which was cotton mouth because I overvaped. I thought that I would want tobacco flavors but the off flavors have been working better for me. I think the one of the proudest moments for me is going to be when I can post on here analog free.

Isn't that the truth! I thought, half-heartedly - "yeah, why not give the e-cig a try..." hmmm, ...

All your posts are very encouraging to me. And they have helped immensely to alleviate my fears! I will remember to come over here and reread them if I should start getting nervous again.

I'm finding it to be very therapeutic to be in the company of my fellow exes - wait, now, that didn't sound right! ;-)

LOL! I relate entirely! Being the first to vape, I kinda got a little payback on wifer who used to 'hold her nose' after I came in from the smoke, and I rather enjoyed watching her squirm a little when her lighters went 'missing'... But, now it's ok, vapers +2!

You made a great choice! After 40+ years of smoking, I started with a KR808D-1 also, and within the first few puffs, I knew it could work. I decided to only have a cigarette when I really felt I needed one, and that turned out to be 4-5 times for the first couple of days. The 4th day I never got around to lighting up, and that was over 14 months ago. I did make sure to have cigarettes available for a while - I needed to know they were there. It was very satisfying to look at them and just say, "Meh!". I had some mild withdrawal symptoms for the first couple of weeks, but they passed quickly. I suspect they were from other substances that are found in cigarettes.

You may need to adjust the way you inhale - draw the vapor into your mouth, then inhale. If you initially try inhaling straight into your lungs, you'll probably find yourself having a coughing fit. As many have mentioned, drink plenty of water. If you find yourself getting dull headaches or feeling jittery, you may be getting too much nicotine. You may want to get some lower-mg cartos to use in the evening - some folks have a problem sleeping, as nicotine is a stimulant like caffeine.

Best of luck to you!

Congrats
It's a big step. I got my ego 2 weeks ago and haven't had a cig since. I was a pack a day for about 35 years and couldn't even think about quitting. I have been relaxed, except when the post office has been slow to deliver, and am really enjoying all the new flavors. Cigs really taste like crap. Make sure you order alot of juice.

Way to go.

A word on side effects. You may have few to none. I had quite a few. I preferred the taste of vaping over smoking, so I soldiered on and got the worst behind me. After today, I'll have 4 full weeks of being analog-free.

My suggestions:

  • Get a good pre-rinse (I've seen an Oral Gel brand mentioned) and use it and brush your teeth 3x daily.
  • Drink water while you vape and while you aren't vaping. Whenever you're awake. I add a splash of lemon juice to my water.
  • You might have bad "vape days" where your hardware doesn't work right or you can't taste your favorite flavors. Keep going. Come here for advice.
  • I had some acne crop up. I stole my son's Stridex pads and kept going.
  • Give yourself permission to not do this perfectly. Keep going.
  • If you suddenly find out that you're passing more gas and it could clear the arena at the Super Bowl, don't fret. That's temporary. And potentially fun if you're twisted like me.
  • Keep going!
