Hi everyone!

Just going to post a little back story on my vaping experience here for the hell of it.

I've been a 1-2 pack a day smoker for about five years. My analogues of choice are camel 9 100's and black and milds. Two years ago I got a job at a hospital, 12 hour shifts and there's no smoking allowed on campus. Not even in your car, I was getting pretty tired of having to hike a quarter of a mile away at three in the morning in the dead of winter just to have a quick smoke, and my non-smoking coworkers were always complaining about my 20 min. breaks every two hours :( .

Then I saw a commercial for Smoking Everywhere and thought, "Hey! Way to screw the system! I've got to get one of those! I'm going to sit right at the nurses station and blow smoke right in their faces, MUAHAHAHA!!" So after a little light Googling, I ended up buying a GreenSmoke starter kit. It was pretty cool at first, showing it off at work but the cartomizers tasted kind of ...bleh and they didnt curb my urge to smoke anymore than the nicotine gum did. Also my coworkers complained that the vapor smelled like ferret musk and started calling the GreenSmoke my "Ferret-stick" and nicknamed me "Weasle" After a couple of months I dumped my greensmoke in a drawer and forgot about it for a few months.

Then, my state really started cracking down on smokers. Raising the prices of cigs and banned smoking in all resturaunts and bars. (No smoking in BARS?! You've got to be kidding me!! Is this really North Carolina?!) I decided to take another shot at this E-smokeing thing and drug out my old GreenSmoke. I saw some adds for E-liquid and thought I could at least save some money on the cartomizers by refilling them a few times. I decided on Johnson Creek Smoke Juice, and...

First reaction: WOW! It tasted SO GOOD! And after a few puffs, I really felt like I'd just had a cigarrette, my coworkers said the vapor smelled nice and didnt mind me vaping around them anymore. I sucked down that first bottle of smoke juice in no time, and when I ran out and had to smoke one of my beloved Camel 9's I was like..."Dang, yuck. What happened?! :?:"

So, yea. I went from smoking at least one and a half a pack a day to nothing over the course of a week. And I never even cared about quitting in the first place, all I wanted to do was get around no-smoking rules, lol.

So then I joined this forum in the pursuit of knowledge and here I am! (Already got a Joye 510 wich I'm not thrilled about, going to get a Vapor King next week. You've served me well little Greensmoke, but now it's time for bigger and better things.)

SO! What got you all started on vaping? I looove people's stories.

Hiya NoBlame! I'm very new to the forum (like today even) and I had heard a commercial on a local talk show channel for a store in the city near where I live, months ago. It spurred my interest, but not enough to brave going "downtown" to hunt for parking and actually go to the shop. Then a few months later, my hubby told me his boss had finally gone to the store and purchased an ecig. A couple weeks later, I asked my hubby if his boss still like his ecig and he was still enjoying it. So, I summoned up the courage to fight the big city and finally made my purchase after watching a few videos on youtube. I took my ecig into work a few minutes later and plugged in the charger. I was a vaping fool my entire shift. I did try to go outside a couple times to smoke an analog, but the second one tasted nasty, I haven't had another since. I know it's been a short time (since Thurs.) but I believe I'm pretty much analog-free :) Now I just gotta figure out what to do with the 8.5 packs sitting on top of my refrigerator. Dang things cost too much to just toss, but I've seen where some have frozen them until they figure out what they wanted to do with them.

actually NoBlame my story's about the same as u'rs except for i smoked Marlboro reds till about 1998 when they went up to $3/pk in FL then started rolling my own - went to cheaper and cheaper brands and then after moving to OK was getting tobacco from indian reservations to avoid the taxes. Came back to FL and prices went up again.

bought my DSE901 going on a month and a half ago and had maybe 6 or 7 since. didn't mean to quit just wanted a new toy to play w/ that i could use where i couldn't smoke.

honest, *insert authority figure here*. I didn't mean to quit, it was an accident!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

I was alerted to PV by a smokingeverywhere tv commercial as well - cept I was in Vegas at the time and the advert (informercial? awful name but thats what it was lol) played every NIGHT - it was like brainwashing lol I did think ti was a neat idea (not to smoke anywhere but just the idea of the PV itself) and then happened upon a stall for them in mall nearby just before we left Vegas. I had a demo but the carts tasted way too strong (I smoked ultralights) even the low mg one he gave me to try made me cough - and then he told me the price. I was tempted, but at that price, I wasn't THAT tempted lol. I decided to research first and see what people were saying about SE because when something seems to be too good to be true it usually is.
I surfed a few sites, found one where people were more or less bashing the SE lol but another link led me HERE.
I read a littel but not a LOT I jsut wanted to ask questions and the members kindly recommended either a KR8 or a 510 (no 510 eGos back then lol).
I thought about it for a while - read a lot more this time and plumped for a 510.
I still love my 510, in fact Ive only just retired my original kit :)

I was tagging along with my hubby on a business trip and had run out of sights to see so I found myself at the mall in downtown Spokane, WA. I managed to stumble into a lounge looking shop with long leather couches, free coffee & it looked like everyone in there "smoking"! I of course had 20,000 questions! The sales guy working that day was a good sport and let me ask him every last stupid question I had AND ask his customers about it lol The first time I was in the shop, I spent about 2 hours trying out the different types of ecigs, juice flavors and chatting up anyone that was interested in talking about it. I decided that the Joye eGo & a bottle of the whiskey flavored juice was what I had to have! However, I'm an investigatory addict and wasn't able to make the commitment to purchase without using my google super genious skills to find out if this "stuff" was going to be as kickass in the longrun as all of these people were telling me it would be.

Fast forward a couple hours...... The hubby finishes working his case for the day and picks me up from the mall to go grab a bite to eat and head back to the hotel. I hadn't mentioned it to him before he picked me up because I wanted a little time to think about it before telling my non smoking hubby that his chain smoking wife was actually thinking about quitting smoking.... Thinking back to when I jumped in the car with him, I feel bad for the man... lol...... I couldn't shut my trap long enough for him to give me any feedback or ask questions (haha) He ended up having me take him to the shop so he could see what all the hub bub was about. He was sold faster than I was but again, we are both information junkies and control freaks who are unable to make decisions without having all the intel we feel we need.... We got dinner, went back to the hotel and spent the following 4 hours each on our own laptops trying to find the downside of vaping over smoking.........

Without question, when the mall opened at 10am the next morning I bought a Joye eGo (8th of July). I was a pack a day (at minimum, most days a pack & 1/2) smoker for MORE than 1/2 of my life. I didn't want to quit! I liked smoking! I loaded that eGo up before I left the shop and I haven't had one cigarette since July 8th just before 10am. Not one! I haven't even wanted one which is the part that is hard for me to process lol! I can hardly believe it all!!

I feel better, I can breath & I don't smell. Life is good

Likewise, I had no intention of really quitting. ;-) The boyfriend bought one of the expensive ones at the mall on an impulse buy, and I watched him for a few weeks before I even wanted to try it.

He started with the DSE801, and still has it. He quit smoking in December, the day he purchased it. Hasn't smoked a cigarette since, and I'm certain I never will. He smoked a pack a day for 20 yrs.

I was the only one going out on the sun porch to smoke, it got kinda lonely. LOL. I broke down and bought the Vapor King 4801, myself, mostly because I decided to give it a shot, and I was really tired of being outside in the winter/summer. My stepdaughter lives with us, so there is no smoking in our home. For me, the model I started with just wasn't enough, so I did some research here, on this forum, and eventually purchased the 801. Still have it, haven't smoked since early January (although I've tried!). I tried to puff on a friend's cigarette sometime in March or April while I was out (and drunk...we all know cigs and alcohol go together, haha), and I think I must have sounded like I hacked up a lung to the rest of my friends. Even after a couple months I was finding myself washing my clothes and taking a shower as soon as I got home from a night out playing poker in smoking bars. I can even smell it coming from the guy in the car in front of me, hanging his cigarette out the window. I keep having to ask myself...did I really smell like that?!?!?

I feel so much better. I bet you do, too. Just wait until you've done nothing but vape for a few months. It's so satisfying, and you'll reap the benefits of putting down cancer sticks for years to come.

Best part...I can be realistic about budgeting in some vacation time again with the money I've saved from analog cigs! :D I never even thought I was spending as much as I was on analogs until I quit. :D

I had thought about quitting for a while but couldn't muster up the determination to actually do it. So one day my friend was showing me this cheesy chinese based website that sold random oddities and STOOPID prices like an entire hiking kit type thing for 5 bucks. I took a look at the website a little more in depth and found some cheap e-cigs for like 6 bucks. After reading the reviews on how cheap and crappy they were (wasn't really expecting anything more from a sketchy, broken english website) i looked online. Checked out some reviews on youtube and decided i was gonna try out the Blu. I got really excited about trying it out that i couldn't wait for an online order to process so i ran (not literally) to the nearest place i thought that had them. Turns out the place i was thinking of was a joke shop...heh...but none the less they had them. They weren't the blu i was hoping for but the Smoke 51 901. Bought it on the spot and starting going nuts with vaping. Killed my first cart in about an hour because i was so fascinated with me new toy. I remembered seeing a video (i think one of Leaford's) that mentioned this website so i went and checked it out. After a few hours of trolling the forums i decided to buy myself a 510 from TW. I had my 901 for only about a week before making the switch and had one cig because i ran of carts *SADFACE*. I gagged to say the least. I've had my 510 for about a week and haven't had a single craving for an analog. Not one. I felt like a little kid being potty trained and succeeding. I looked at myself in the mirror and said "I'm doing it!" and proceeded to vigorously fist pump.

Ironically enough, my reason for starting vaping is similar to yours. I wasn't planning on quitting either, I was just looking for an alternative for days that I have clinic because the hospital that I do my internship at also doesn't allow smoking anywhere on the premises, PLUS I'm a respiratory therapy student and seeing patients while smelling like cigarettes probably isn't smart or courteous. =P

I quit smoking analogs the day I got my PV, unintentionally. =] Like you, I tried a cigarette some time after (maybe about 2 weeks after starting vaping) and it tasted horrible to me. I haven't looked back since and I'm so happy I made the switch.

I just recently went on a cruise while I was still smoking and it was SUCH a pain to find smoking areas on the ship! Now that I'm a vaper, I'm looking forward to my next cruise, heck I can vape in the comfort of my room. LOL. ^_^

My first E-Cig is a V4L Vapor King Shorty (kit) and a Medium sized V4L Vapor King. All four batteries are autos. I'm really enjoying them so far. A few small issues but everything seems to be resolving. I was a smoker of Canadian cigarettes (export A) and I loved them. I'm using the Dunhall carts from V4L and they are very close to the real thing!

I started with the regular flavors to simulate the experience as well. When that just started tasting like another cigarette, I decided at that point, I was comfortable enough with my ecig to stop treating it like a cigarette and have some flavor to it. I personally think it's a great idea to transition yourself in with regular flavors that simulate tobacco. It gives you a great opportunity to get comfortable with your new device and well...pretty much makes quitting effortless, at least for me. The flavors were kind of a play toy at first, but now I'm totally into trying new stuff when I notice something I might like.

As far as your small issues, there isn't a single person on this forum who can honestly say there isn't a learning curve, and a period of time when you get to figure out what works for you. That's the beauty of the whole thing. There's something for every single type of smoker, and countless ways to modify or use the entire market to fit each individual need. :)

Well, I hope you end up enjoying it as much as I do. I'm a total Google nerd, but even after all the research I did before I bought one, I still felt like I didn't know the first thing when I got it. There's a nice little sorta-in-English instruction manual that came with it(lol) that didn't really help, and a VAST wealth of information here to read. I was lost like Jack Shepard on a tropical island.

I've been lurking here since January, and still haven't even come close to reading it all. Couldn't tell ya the first thing about mods, either. And there's too many product numbers. And waaay too many flavors... I could tell ya all about my 801, though. lol. And then I guarantee there's something I'm not doing completely right.

They're about as personal as cell phone covers, and monogramed towels, so even though one model may work best for me, might not be the best for you. Experiment. If ya destroy an atty or two, or waste some juice, no big deal. You're still saving lots of money; not to mention your lungs. :)
