i quit smoking for about 3 months back in the carto tank days.

then they stopped making cartomizers. then all my juice vendors went out.

I've been struggling to find a replacement since. I've easily spent too much money on vaping. I"m getting tired of trying.

are these new pods similar to carto tanks?
I'm so lost.

I have lost interest in the clouds. I just want to stop my 30 year long smoking addiction. I miss my carto tanks. they worked for me. I'm frustrated. I'm tired. I'm lost.

There are still the Aspire eGo tanks available using the BVC coils. You could go to a pod system. I've tried many. The Caliburn is a great, simple, easy to use pod that hits nice and produces the best flavor I've come across in a pod. It's not about clouds. It's a very satisfying vape. If you really want to get off the smokes, you have options.

Somewhere out there
I quit using cartos too and used them up until 2016. Then I learned to rebuild and loved the option of being free from buying and started DIY juice which I prefer now over store bought juice.
I have recently tried several pods and I really like Moti, draw activated, refillable pods. Very easy to use.

My next favorite pod is the Innokin Podin, I love the form factor and tiny size. It vapes great. About the size of a pack of crackers :) it also is draw activated and button activated, I like having the option. You do have to watch juice level and keep it filled so no dry hits.

Have you used nicotine-free liquids?
It's probably not best to try and transition directly to 0mg nic right off the bat. I had to start at 36mg, anything less and I was bouncing off of the walls... now down to 18 after 12 years of slowly chipping away at it.

I have been onn and off the wagon numerous times since 2012. I remember a lot of the old gear, most of which I sidn't like. Cartos wewe good for the time though. I dripped with them and also used the tanks. They have solved many issues they once had with the old clearomizers. Packaged drop in coils are much better than they once were. I use RDAs/RTAs almost exclusively but I like my Nautilus X for mtl nic salt setups. If you are having trouble getting off the cigarettes you may want to rty salts. I use menthol 35mg when I am jonesing bad for a smoke. It satisfies the craving.

I know nothing about pods (on purpose, that rabbit hole did not suit me) but there are plenty of good MTL options out there.

I quit for 6 weeks on a pair of NJOY drippers and then dual used, then quit completely for a while, and have now quit (hopefully for good.) I have so many fun MTL options I won't post them all.

It might help to quantify what you are kind of looking for-- tight draw, small size, blah blah, etc. It at least narrows things down some.

As you adjust, you will probably get happier as you get used to the equipment. It's just right now you are "used to" cartos, but that doesn't mean you need to suck on a tailpipe either.

Welcome (Back) an I hope you find something for you.

If I remember those dual coil cartos produced decent flavor and vapor at the time at least back in 2011 or 2012 with the convenience of being in a tank. You may want to check out a tank with RBA option to have for D Day but also one that offers coils of sub-ohm to just over 1 ohm. I love my Kanger subtanks. You might be able to find one for sale more likely a toptank. One site had the mini kits real cheap but they sold out. You could also check out the Zenith Pro tank but that does not have a RBA option, only coils.

Not that will help much but did a google search and found this:
Tank - SmokTech - 510 Dual Coil - 6mL

$.95 each and include 1 punched carto. You could buy a bunch and use them to get off ciggs while you find something that satisfies you.

Cartos were.....well, better than smoking. That's all I'll give them. Newer stuff is SOOOO much better! Get a Vladdin RE (my favorite, by a long shot, and I've tried more than a few pods), or a Minifit, or a Caliburn. Any well regarded pod system will beat a carto hands down.

But then, with May approaching, learn fairly quickly how to diy juice, get RTA's (Precisio, True MTL, and SXK/SJMY Doggystyle for me, in that order), and be prepared to have very little vaping supplies available. But first, try a pod and make it that first few weeks without a smoke, and it's easy sailing from there. Good luck!

Your story is very similar to mine except for the cartos. I've never been able to MTL. Doesn't suit me. I've also not found that one thing that just does it completely. Definitely prefer vaping to smoking. I hate cigarettes, but for just can't seem to kick that monkey off my back. Not going to give up and I hope you don't either. I do vape much more than I smoke now.

Cartons were around when I started vaping, but I never used them. Seems like you are leaning toward mtl though.

There are SO many devices that might work for you... and so many are on sale/clearance right now, it’s a good time to test a few out.

I would say grab a couple different pods and some high mg salt nic - some great threads for recommendations and links, like the stocking up threads.

I use and like the Minifit, the AsMODus Flow, and SMOK Nord ( more of a restricted dl) but there are dozens.

There are also lots of great kits to be had cheap.

But really, I think the main focus needs to be enough nic, then the style of hit that suits you best.

Hears a treat for you. Charles's site is a wealth of good common sense, please read more than:

I started vaping in the carto days but didn't stay there long. I have been using tanks for a long time and really didn't like the idea of the pod mods and not a fan of salt nic. Recently, I was given a Vinci. I was basically out of juice and it had a juice in it I liked so I tried it. I have to say, I really liked it. The small form factor, the auto puff feature that I haven't had for about 8 years, and good flavor and vapor. I like it and will probably pick up the Vinci X so I don't have to recharge an internal battery. Something to consider.

I stopped smoking with a GoGo set up and they quit making them. Hunted around for a while because I'm looking for no fuss vaping. (I don't want a new hobby.) Finally ended up with a set up that's a little hard to find: Kanger e-smart 510 clearomizer (with a top coil) on a decent battery like an Evod or a Spinner.
It took me about 6 months with the GoGo to quit smoking. I took me 7 years to get from 24mg to 5mg of nicotine, but I'm on my way. :)
