Hi all,
As most of the Protank (and VictoryTank) users know, you can't really draw a nice big hit from it without it gorgeling and if you don't stop, you will eventually get some eliquid in your mouth.
I didn't want to keep buying coils, since they also go quite fast with my tank, so I bought some Kanthal, Ekowool and Sillica...
I first dry-burnt the coils, after having put them first in hot water and then in the UC (ultrasonic cleaner, used mainly to clean jewelry and cutlery) and tried to put some sillica back inside the coil. This worked quite good and is recommendable to all if you want to save huge money on coils!
I went a step further this night, and I've build my very own first coil! I used this video for the basics: LET'S REBUILD A KANGER PROTANK 2013 - YouTube but it's really easy anyways. I used a hollow ekowool (2mm) filled with 2mm sillica, wound my 30AWG kanthal around it 8 times (as calculated to get 1,8 Ohms with this forum's calculator in excel, available here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/506159-kanthal-coil-calculator.html ) and put it in.
Cut it off as mentioned in the video and... well it shorted but that's ok. I adjusted it a little bit. And then again, because after putting the cap back on it it shorted again... But now it works!
I can fully recommend this to anyone! No gurgeling, no liquid in mouth, really, really nice vapor and it seems I can just keep going, and going, and going (I hope the battery doesn't malfunction soon, I release the ego-c button just before it shuts off at 10 seconds, then push it again, and again, and again...) It actually made me cough!!! Damn I thought this was only possible for near-Ohm users on advanced RBA's or Kayfuns or something, but I did it almost effortless on my 4$ Victorytank!!!
/me is so happy now
