I saw the Look

I started on my Ego set up just a couple of weeks ago. This past weekend I set my girlfriend up and got her started as well. She was open to the idea because of the success I've had thus far.

Sunday night we're sitting on the coach having our regular tv marathon. Both of us sucking away on our vapes. Later in the evening she reaches over and lights up a cigarette and that's when I saw it. It was the most bewildered look. She stopped looked at her cigarette and said "What the hell?". It just didn't taste right. She puffed again and found her cig tasted bad, just like the first time she had a smoke.

I never got to see the expression on my own face when the spell of regular cigs was broken. I did however get to see it on my GF's face and it was priceless.

that happened to me yesterday been vaping for 3 days till that point my brother came over and was like want a cig I was like yeah sure it'll be my last one. lit that baby up and was like yuck this is gross how did I do this for 10 years I could taste the chemicals and everything. and when ever my girlfriend comes back inside from smoking I can smell it, its so terrible I feel bad for all the people that didn't smoke and I was around them.

While I am noticing the smell of cigs more and more I cannot bring myself to harp on them. In all my years of smoking there was nothing worse than the former smoker on a crusade and I will not become that person.

For myself the spell is broken. It's not that I completely hate the taste of cigs now. I just much prefer my e-cig. There'll always be a nostalgic place for the smell of stale cigarette smoke that I won't escape. That comes from growing up in a heavy smoking environment. Just as the smell of oil and machinery reminds some people of their folks from their jobs, the smell of tobacco reminds me of home.

I lit up an analog 3 days after I had giving them up. Took two drags off it and put it out. Just didn't taste right. That was 3 1/2 wks ago. I had put the carton and half of analogs I had at the time I quit in the freezer just to be on the safe side. Decided to try an analog this morning. It tasted like cr#p when I first lit it. Took about a half drag and coughed and put it out. At lunch I took the cigs from the freezer and gave them to a co-worker that's still sucking them down. I'm now at 4 weeks free and have no intention of ever going back to analogs. Had been a habit for 41 years and not anymore!!:D

Yeah, but the best part of switching to vaping is: no fear. People should actually try at least one cigarette early into their vaping career to gauge their new reaction to smoking. If you are one of the lucky man - like your GF - the smoking experience goes gross in short order. Smoking actually turns into it's own worst negative reinforcement. People like her don't have any major struggle to stay quit. But if you find you still like something about the smoking experience at least you know what you are up against, and know what you will have to do if you really want to stay quit.

Me? I was a 2 PAD smoker for 30 years. The smell of cigarette smoke now - even outdoors - is even to make me nauseous. I sure as hell never saw that coming because every time I quit with conventional NRT I was DYING for a cigarette. Do I like being around people who smoke now? No. As an ex smoker I'm not about to go all Nazi on their butts, but I really don't like it - at all.
