I'm really glad you started this discussion because this is something I'm looking into as well. I don't want to hijack the thread, so does anyone know if there is a How-To post somewhere?

Start with the stickies, and from there you should generate some specific questions. Really, it can be as simple as you want it to be. Just be safe, that's what the stuff in the stickies is for.

Ohhh so going to try this!! This is EXACTLY why I wanted to mix in the first place - so I can play with things until I get what works. They sell VG at Walmart?? How about CVS? I didn't know I could just buy the stuff...I'm dumb, I know...:D

Just make sure wherever you get the VG and PG that it is USP grade (it will say so on the bottle).

The calculator is good. It's accurate.
You're getting the right info (you DO need to add no-nic VG to get what you ASKED it for!).
And playing with it is how you learn how this stuff works!

But yes - your recipe is simple. And you can mix it. And you can adjust it to taste and do a "Save As" and give your recipe a name.
:D

Here's what you have to look forward to.
I LOVE my on DIY juice. I have some stuff I bought, but mostly it sits there, cuz mine is better.
I now mix my favorite flavor in 100 ml batches, so it can steep a couple weeks.
Know what it costs me, for 30 ml? To compare to brand-name juice?
About $1.65

Dude. It all looks good. I'm a geek. Love
The technical stuff. Seen lots of folks winging this stuff when they don't have a backround for it. Your being careful iss not crazy, it's smart.
So follow these guys, get a good app, and vape it your way. I love the control diy gives me. I can change my nic during the day if I want. Talk to the guys at Wizard. They are diy people too. Drove 2.5hrs out to check em out. I'm a picky guy. Call em, Conner will talk ya right through it. This might sound weird, but you might try a higher mg nic base. The calcutators will give you smaller numbers to put in, it feels better. I use e juice recipe manager. It lets you set your ratio, then tells you all you need to make it dead on. I'm sure lots of them are great. Welcome to the adventure!

This is what I get with the calculator:

5ml of nic juice
2ml of PG
1ml of VG (which I didn't think I needed because it is in the nic juice?? add more PG or more nic juice??)
2ml of flavor

See why I think I am going to kill myself?? LOL!!

not really... you have 48mg/ml nic base and it calls for 5 ml, there is 5 ml of the other stuff, therefore the 48 mgnic base gets cut by 50% equalling 24 mg/ml

I had seen people posting about the VG at Walmart too but I wasn't sure exactly where to look because no one I saw posted where they found it. So it should be in the pharmacy section near the rubbing alcohol (as someone else posted) and costs about $4 or so for a 177ml bottle. Hope that helps.

Don't stress it. I have been making my own juices now for over 9 months and love it. At the very beginning, I was the same as it seemed very intimidating BUT once you start....there's no going back. It's a lot of fun, especially when you make some batches that you feel are better than what you can buy. Just double check everything as you are making your juice. make sure that you have NIC in your syringe when you want to do NIC and double / triple check the correct measurements. Same with the PG and the flavoring. Squirt them into a bottle, shake and vape.

Lol.....when I made my very first batch, it took me about an hour. Now, I make about 6-7 juices in 10 minutes.

Homework Assignment: make yourself a small bottle of your strong menthol. Once you do it, you'll see that there is nothing to be worried about and as you know, we are all here to help you or answer questions.

Good Luck and let us know how it went! :)

If you are going to make menthol flavored juice 2 ml of flavoring could be a way too much. For menthol I’d start with 0.5 ml per 10 ml of juice.

I was wondering that too - I think I overdid the flavoring with the premix batch I made....I kept thinking "but I REALLY LOVE menthol, that doesn't smell strong enough - until I hit it and my mouth burned - LOL!!!

Yes Walmart and CVS both sell it. Not sure what brand is at CVS but Walmart sells Humco brand Glycerin USP. Reported to be on the shelf by rubbing alcohol.

I am so there tomorrow!! I had no idea you could just buy it....do they have PG too??

Make yourself an unflavored batch at 19mg or 24mg and add some of your Menthol batch to it.

24mg 50/50
5ml of VG 49mg Nic base
5ml of PG

19mg 50/50
4ml of VG 48mg Nic base
1ml of VG
5ml of PG

If it makes you feel any better, my first DIY juice was my own pomegranate mix in 50/50 at 12mg. My only mistake was starting off with 10% flavoring.... Actual pomegranates don't taste as strong.... Completely unvapable so I diluted down my 10ml with another 10ml of PG/VG mix. Live and learn!

LOL, I do feel better :) I actually USED that awful stuff because I couldn't stand wasting it - LOL, now I know I could throw in other stuff :D

Have never seen propylene glycol at Wal-Mart. You can get it at Tractor Supply Company or probably most large farm stores. It's about $20/gallon. Make sure it says USP on the label.

I live in the middle of nowhere, LOL, and of course we have a Tractor Supply...LOL, in case I get desperate - I will look there :D

Make yourself an unflavored batch at 19mg or 24mg and add some of your Menthol batch to it.

24mg 50/50
5ml of VG 49mg Nic base
5ml of PG

19mg 50/50
4ml of VG 48mg Nic base
1ml of VG
5ml of PG

I am going to do this tomorrow, PROMISE!! Too tired out, awful day here...but I will post my results so you can all see how badly I can mess up a free lunch :) I couldn't have done ANY of this without you guys - without knowing the difference you make - you are all saving me

One thing I wanted to mention that I haven't seen anyone say in plain language yet is:

Under the flavoring boxes, there is a place for your "target" PG and VG. If the recipe amounts on the right-hand side call for a certain amount of VG and you don't have any, just type in a larger number for the target VG, then click the Calculate button on the bottom right. Look at your recipe again, and keep adjusting the VG target downward until you come up with a very small amount to no amount of VG in the recipe. It won't affect the nicotine content; it will just add more PG to the recipe. Just remember when you change any box on the calculator, you always have to hit the Calculate button for it to change the recipe.

Tractor Supply USP Propylene Glycol is great for those who live near one. You can also pick up syringes, needles (not blunts though), and nitrile gloves for a pretty good price.

Embrace your early mixing mistakes because they are great teachers. Expect them and welcome them because those mistakes will teach you more than a month of reading in here and be much quicker.

Mistakes are only in the eyes of the craftsman. I can point to every mistake on every leather or wood project I've done. Even with me pointing them out, most still cannot see them. Those mistakes are mine and only I can learn from them. They are wonderful teachers, each and every single one.

Now... Go make your own!
