So here's the deal, I've been vaping for a month now. Started with an egot with ce4s. I hated the ce4s so I switched to evods. LOVE those. Got bored with the egot and decided to upgrade to an itaste svd. With that upgrade I decided to get a protank2. THOUGHT I liked the new tank until I strapped it on my svd. Now every vape gets worse and worse. There's the horrible metallic taste. I've cleaned this thing probably 20 times. Changed the heads. You name it. Tried different juices by different vendors with different pg/vg ratios at various voltages and still the same problem. I can take the exact same head and put it on an evod and strap that to my svd and the flavor is spot on. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. Since I got this thing I have barely vaped, even with my egot. Everything now has that taste that is horrid. Anyone have an idea of what I am doing wrong or what I can do to fix this?
I had that exact experience with my Protank 1. The metallic taste just did not want to disappear.
First try washing it thoroughly with soap and hot water if you haven't yet. You should always wash your tanks before filling with eliquid because there may be some machining oil or other contaminants in them from the machining process.
If washing doesn't help (it didn't for me) what I ended up doing was mixing a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water in a glass and l let the tank and the base soak in it overnight. The next day after rinsing it off completely and washing it again the flavor was greatly improved. It might be worth a shot.
I do still taste a slight metallic flavor when I use it but I think it's just the metal tip of the Protank coming in contact with my lips. It's nowhere near as bad as it was when I got it though. It might be worth trying a plastic drip tip with your Protank 2 in case that is what you are tasting.
Oh, and if you do use the vinegar solution don't soak the coil head in it; you may not be able to get the vinegar taste out of the wick. And I wouldn't soak any rubber o-rings or seals in it if you can avoid it, otherwise the vinegar could degrade the rubber and cause leaking down the line.
