Oh dear.....have been doing great with my Joye510 for nearly a week now.....yesterday had a few problems as was not getting enough vapour out etc, so I came onto this amazing forum for help, anyway it turned out the batteries were not fully charged so all was good....this morning I woke up to have the same problem, not enough vapour so had to use the real ciggys yuk....I made sure the batteries were charged fully, nice new cartridge, all nicely filled up, and still the same problem not enough vapour.
So I tried something that someone had suggested yesterday, which was cleaning the attomizer with a dry burn....so I ran the atomizer under warm water, blew in it, ran it under warm water, and blew in it....patted it into paper towel quite a few times until no water was present, then attached the battery and kept pressing the button hoping it would glow red inside the atomizer like someone posted.....only I couldn't get it to glow red, so I kept taking it off the battery and patting it onto paper towel and then blowing through it etc etc, attaching it again and pressing the button......I did this with both of my Joye510....eventually smoke started coming out of both....and I thought well maybe the smoke is from yukky stuff being burnt off, so I continured....I never did get a nice little glow from inside the atomizer and now every time I put a cartridge in and try to vape I just get a really nasty burnt taste...I have left everything sitting on paper towel for a good few hours now hoping if it was damp inside it would have dried out....but this burnt taste is so gross.....
So...Oh dear...have I totally screwed up....please can someone make this all ok again lol.
I am hoping I don't have to order new atomizers as it took a week for my delivery to come and really don't want to smoke regular ciggys for a whole week...
Help ..........

I'm not really familiar with your 510. On my Ego-T;
I press the button for 4-5 secs at a time - vapor will show
I blow directly on the coil between presses to break away the "ash" that's burning off.
Eventually, a small portion of the coil will start to glow...keep going 'till the whole coil glows & I'm done.

It sounds like you started the process, but aren't finished yet...

Got a store nearby with the crappy mall ecigs? They are still better than analogs.

When you place your next order for attys, get some standard resistance or 3ohm cartomizers. They are cheap, disposable and come in 5 packs. They also hold more liquid than an atty/cartridge. I prefer attys, but I keep a few cartos around "just in case" Get 2 packs of 510 cartomizers.

Meanwhile, go ahead and order some spare atomizers. Get at least a 5 pack. Spares for everything is the norm. Or, as Off Topic has suggested, get a couple packs of Standard Resistance Boge cartomizers. E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings has a store location in the UK and should be able to get your stuff to you in short time.

submerge the atty into pga. i.e. vodka. let it sit in there for an hour or so rinsing it inside every now and then. after which, cover the connector end with paper towels and blow hard into the cart end untill nothing else comes out. wait till dry b4 connecting it to the batt. then drip 3 drops of juice directly on to the atty. put cart in atty. vape but dun inhale just exhale the vapor from ur mouth. (prime vaping). repeat one more time. when done, drip 2 drops of juice on to atty again and also fill ur carts with juice this time. place cart on atty. vape.

(make sure u fill ur carts untill u can c a thin layer of juice sitting on top of the polyfill inside after settling it. this is to ensure u fill it to the "max" and also subsequent refilling, umust make sure the carts is kept moist)

Hi Sandra,

I'm in the UK & you can get 510 atomisers easily from many good UK vendors & most ship same day as ordering 1st class. If you use Liberty-Flights UK as suggested by Bozzlite, use discount code ECR69 for 15% off. E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings

Got to admit that I've never got on too well with cleaning atomisers. However, after you have washed them & dried them out, they need to be re-primed by directly dripping a few drops of juice onto them.

Ok so looking at the first reply there is a chance that I have not finished burning off....thanks for that, I guess at this point I have nothing to lose but keep going pressing the button until hopefully I get a glow...if I have killed the atomizers then its not going to hurt them lol.....I will post with an update later lol....I think when the things started smoking I was worried they would catch fire or blow up....my sisters laptop actually caught fire last week right in my face while I was cleaning it with an air blow so am a bit wary of fire at the moment lol.
Thanks to the other 2 posts, I just researched what a cartomizer was so now I understand and will order some for definite, and from now on will make sure I have spares of everything, I guess its all just a learning experience....I have also bookmarked the link sent, thanks for that...
I will get there surely but slowly.
Is it for definite that nothing will catch fire if I keep pressing this button though lol.....thanks for your help..
Sandy
Oh just saw new replies..thank you
I didn't know about the vodka....brilliant idea and then I can finish the bottle off as I am so stressed right now lol....I didn't know about adding some juice directly into the atomizer, I will need to re read your post to get it straight and will follow what you said, wow what a learning experience this is, but its all good as when I get two other of my family members on this I will know more and be able to help them, anyway thank you for the great tips.
Ahh and thank you so much for the person who gave me a code for discount, that was so nice of you, and I didn't know anyone did quick shipping, I just thought they would all take a week which made me fed up...
Ok so I think I am sorted, loads of good advice, thank you all so so much, I know I would not survive doing this without everyone, so thanks so much, now my day looks brighter.
Thanks
Sandy

Sandra, I think if you keep pressing the button without re-priming the attie, you will just add to the burnt taste.

If you go for some cartomisers, do make sure they are standard resistance & not low resistance. As your 510 battery hasn't a high enough mAh to take either LR (Low Resistance) atomisers or cartomisers.

yup nothing. at most u will scald ur finger if u accidently touch the atty casing. and/or u will kill the atty. (i had one killed that way so i got finger itchy and pry open that thing and saw that the coil broke like how a filament in a lightbulb would.)

You have burned the wick in your atty. So now it isn't going to work with a cartridge without the burned taste.
However that does not mean that it is time to throw those atties away. It simply means that it is time to dewick them, and use them for direct dripping.
I dewick/debridge all of my atties before I ever use them because I hate cartridges. It is easy to do, and there are plenty of u-tube vids that show how it's done.

I think of the process as a self cleaning oven, enough heat has to be applied over enough time to turn the gunk to ash.
The button however cannot be depressed for too long or the coil will pop like a blown light bulb.
Doing it for 4-5 secs at a time minimizes that risk, but done repetitively will build up the heat in the atomizer.
Blowing between button presses removes any gunk that has ashed over, which also helps the process along.
I found that the wick actually turns itself clean & white once the coils start to glow properly.
I then blow it out thoroughly to remove any visible ash, a PGA bath can be done at this point as well. (like wiping down the ash in the oven)
Once it's glowing properly and all ash is gone, you would then prime everything to get things started again.

You have manual batteries I hope?

After you clean an atomizer you need to prime it with new juice (like 4 drops onto the bridge /\) and wait for that to soak down to the coil. Once the atomizer coil gets damp with juice it will work better again.

But BUY CARTOMIZERS. Buy Boge 3 ohm cartomizers and learn to use them. Then you will always have a way to vape even if your last atomizer dies. Use thin juices with them - I prefer 20% or less VG to get good performance and good reuse out of a cartomizer. 80PG/20VG is a good blend for cartomizer. . I also avoid dark or cloudy juices that drop flavoring sediment - that will gunk up atomizers and cartomizers. Slim 510 can use 2.5 to 3 ohm cartomizers. If you care about color, NiteLiteVapor.us is the only place I've seen tan and white Boge standard resistance (around 3 ohms) cartos. Lots of place have black. The hotter 2 ohm ones are only for fat battery models and mods 450mah+ batteries.

Use the atomizer to test juices, vape occasional or thick juices. If you have manual batteries you can use a drip tip on the atomizer. And for your every day thinner juices, use cartomizers. The nice thing about cartomizers is every time you start a new one it's like your ecig is brand new.

    ---
To fill a 1ml cartomizer - use your finger and tissue or a cartomizer cover spike to block the threaded end hole and make the carto soak up its stated capacity of juice. I make 1ml cartos like Boge take at least 18 drops (wait for the first few to soak in, then continue once the top of the stuffing is dampened). After the 18 drops, I wait 30 seconds then see how many more drops it will soak in. Then you clean it up. Then settle it since this is the first fill - lay on different sides for 15-20 minutes (longer if you use thicker juice than most use). After that just vape and keep it damp to avoid singeing it and getting burnt bitter taste. I can get 7+ days use out of a cartomizer, usually 10+ out of a Boge.
