I think I might be going backwards... RBAs and low ohm coils

I think I may be encountering a situation where "excessive tinkering" is starting to interfere with how much I enjoy it. I've got a few RBAs, mostly Kayfun style, some mech mods with high amp batteries, and a few regulated mods. I'm down to basically two delivery methods, RBAs and Aspire BDCs. Here's the rub, the Aspires are all that I need, technically speaking. Great flavor, vapor, throat hit, they're awesome.

But, I am who I am so "wanting more" is just in my DNA apparently. I've been happy with my Kayfuns, no doubt about that. They hold a lot of juice, they don't leak, and have very good... all of it :) So tonight I took my new 27 awg Kanthal and made some coils. One was a 7 wrap, the other was a 10 wrap, .7 ohm and 1 ohm, respectively. So I slapped them on my mechs with my Sony 30A batteries (just in case) and started vaping. They hit hard and hot, wow. Flavor is great but is almost masked by the fact that they pack such a punch. And here's the deal...

I have asthma. It's one of the main reasons I picked up vaping, to hopefully start to heal my lungs. The major issue I'm dealing with is that even though I do like the warmth and flavor, these things are killing my asthma tonight. I've had to grab my inhaler a few times and I'm not talking about a Ventolin inhaler, this is Symbicort, some badass stuff. Has anyone else with asthma had this experience? Worst case, I can scrap these coils, sell off the kanthal, and stick with my 2-ohm coils. It sucks because I feel like this setup is really good but I think I'm just physically limited to where I can't enjoy it fully.

That's all, I'm mostly just frustrated that I have some decent coin invested in RBAs, mechs, batteries, and it's basically for naught. I'm not even thinking of going back to smoking, lord knows I feel way better these days and I'm only a month and a half into it. Maybe I'm just not being patient enough and my lungs haven't had time to heal yet, I'm not sure. Just a bit frustrated I guess so I'm venting.

Thanks for reading, any insight is welcome.

Todd

I have asthma also and at the six-month point vaping I decided not to inhale and just vape like a pipe smoker. I do occasionally inhale, usually accidentally, but know better than to deliberately do it even at 1.8 or 2.2 set at 3.3 volts. 3.7 volts has become too much and the juices I have taste best lower than that anyway. But, to each their own... I let my lungs be my guide. Oh, and I try to keep the VG at 30%. Even 50% is too much for them... the vape is just too thick and heavy.

Nicotine is absorbed in the mouth and/or nasal membranes. Lung inhaling is not necessary either smoking or vaping. Pipe smokers as well as most cigar smokers know this and don't lung inhale. Hold the vapor in your mouth to get the flavor, bring it to the back of the mouth and exhale through the nose to get even more flavor. I block off my throat with the back of my tongue while bringing the vapor only far enough to exhale through the nose whether I actually exhale that way or from my mouth. If any does inadvertently get down my throat enough to hit my wind pipe, it only gets as far as the very top of my bronchial area. I don't even like that feeling now since I've gotten used to vaping this way.

Hope I explained it enough. Some others may come along who are better at describing the method. Just a tip: When I first started practicing the method, it helped me to both inhale and exhale through my nose just to avoid accidentally lapsing into the way I lung inhaled smoke. In other words, I closed my mouth after filling it with vapor and then inhaled through my nose with my mouth closed.

Using your tongue to close the space in your mouth, right?

We cigar smokers call that a "Retrohale" or "Retro Nasal Olfaction Exhale"
