Hello All-
I started vaping on September 10th 2012 and haven't looked back!! Still experimenting with juices and I am noticing that its not the same satisfaction as it was when I first started. I think I need more vapor production. I have done some research but have become overwhelmed with all the VV's out there and am a bit reluctant to spend $120 plus on something that I have no idea if its what I want. So a few questions for anyone that can help out:
  • What was your 1rst VV experience like and what hardware did you use?
  • What is the best way to use a VV, in other words, for what purpose?
  • What VV's would you recommend worth trying as a 1rst time with VV and also as a 2nd VV?
Thank you all for your help!!

Cheers

First try an ego twist....cheap enough for a starter kit...between 35.00 and 100.00 depending on options. I would suggest a larger model battery. 900 mah or up if you vape all day. I get about 8-9 hrs with my 900. And I have a 650 mah for backup. I am very happy with my setup and I am using 3.5 ml smoktek tanks, which are also fantastic. The purpose of vv is that it gives you control...you can adjust til you get the vapor/flavor you like. And you can find the sweet spot of eaxh juice, bc it tends to be different for each one.

And once I am ready to upgrade...i know I hace my eye on the zmax. Seems to be a cheaper alternative to the provari which you see all over on here. And I tried one at my brixk n mortar store....and it WAS...very nice. But I've spent plenty of money already so it won't be for a while.

Hope that helped

Ego Twist for a first timer, next if you like you can step up to a Provari if you want the best VV mod, much better build quality than a Zmax.... You get what you pay for.... Buy good batteries like AWs or Panasonics.. Yes there is a big differance... Once you decided to invest in good top quality vape equipment it will last for years.. Think about direct dripping with an atomizer... Pure taste and best performance/ catomizers cant compare with attys.. For cheap attys buy Genuine Joye 510 Low Resistance for a Twist, set it at 4.0 volts, You will be pleased.. If you want some higher performing attys try the HH357's, they do rock and last long.. If you want more Vapor go with 100% VG e-liquid...

Hi and welcome to ECF.
What was your 1rst VV experience like and what hardware did you use?
A Provari that was a gift from friends. I gifted it to a good friend as my 3.7 volt PVs were doing the job at the time. Although expensive it's extremely high quality and very well made.
What is the best way to use a VV, in other words, for what purpose?
With specific juices that taste better at higher or lower voltage you can dial the voltage up or down. Also you can use different ohms delivery devices for a different hit. If I'm stressed out and need a stronger hit I merely turn up the voltage rather than having to change to a higher nic juice and/ or lower res carto.
What VV's would you recommend worth trying as a 1rst time with VV and also as a 2nd VV?
2 weeks ago I bought a 650 and 1000 mah Twist (3.3-4.8 volts) I just sold them last night because:
Voltage dial very narrow and smooth- hard to turn.
Voltage markings almost invisible.
1000 is 4.75" long without cartomizer/ clearomizer.
I now ordered the Spinner (3.3-4.8 volts)- 1300 mah- 4.4" without carto. Wide knurled voltage dial- easy to turn. Voltage markings very easy to read.
If you can afford the Provari I would advise to buy it but if not the Spinner is a great start IMO.

I've been vaping for less than a week so listen to me at your own peril...

I have the eGo twist and Mini ViVi Nova and it's working well for me. Yes, the markings are a little hard to read on the twist and it's smooth and slightly difficult to turn. The thing is, I didn't really need to see the markings to set the thing to my satisfaction. Turn it one way and voltage goes up, turn it the other and the voltage goes down. I started at the lower setting, vaped, and increased the voltage until it suited me. It's kind of like I don't need to know the voltage on a dimmer switch, I just turn it until the light is how I want it.

It turned out that I liked it at about 4.1 volts but I didn't even bother looking at the voltage until I had it where I wanted it. Now that it's set, I rarely change the setting. I'm using the 2.8 ohm heads and will need to adjust if/when I use other resistances. I get about 24 hours of use out of the 1000 mah.

Thank you Vapoor, that's some good info you gave me there. I appreciate the well thought out response as a newbie its all very overwhelming especially since I can't walk into a store and see what I'm buying. My ultimate goal is to have something that is not huge but has the power I would like, so by telling me that the 1K is 5.5" long w/out the cart is a great thing to know as I don't want something that large for outdoor vaping, it makes me feel like I'm smoking a flashlight LOL. I would love to find a small yet powerful mod that isn't a bottom feeder as I don't really trust that set up, I would have to see it in person before investing. I am waiting on a Stump from Ecigworkshop that uses a 18350 battery and hope that it will bring back that smoking satisfaction. If not then the search continues, I wouldn't mind having several mods that I use. Again thank you for all your help!!
Cheers

Riverboat is right about dripping. Convenience wise its not practical for me to do all day, but I do use that as my method for choosing which juice I want to fill my tank with next. Once you fill a tank...you are committed until you run out...which at 3.5 ml, is at least 24 hrs...usually more. Wand for that reason, I have no need to have a larger tank than what I have. I like variation. So yeah...dripping definitely has its perks...

I should probably tell ya what it is I am currently using so that my step up would be just that, a step up...LOL
I use an ego -c 650 mah w/ a clearomizer at 1.8. I pretty much vape all day at home or whenever I get a chance outdoors; in between classes, on the way to the train, etc. I feel I need more of a kick and not in nicotine as i had to reduce it from 18mg (too harsh for me) to 8mg. I have tried going back to 18mg to test if that is the lack of satisfaction but its still too harsh. Any way, I appreciate everyones suggestions, this is really helpful!!! Keep 'em coming!!!

Thx Robin... You know dripping works the best.. I carry a little 3ml bottle with me, tanks eeeeeh especially the ones that use cartomizers.
I bought a Z-Atty-Pro... worked very well... But did it add alot of size and weight to my Provaris.... Sold it as I would never carry it outside the house.... What kind of juice are you using? 18mg is middle of the road nicotine wise.. If your using high PG juice thats where the harshness is coming from....

My entire ego twist 900 mah looks to be about 7 inches or so with the tank and drip tip attached. I opted for a very girly looking one, but thats just me... You could choose black or silver for a little less "look at me" factor. And even though they are bigger than the cig looking ones...they are still fairly slim and dont feel like flashlight. You will probably also become more comfortable with it as each day passes. Ive had lots of people come up to me and tell me it looks so cool they think im going to start a trend...lol.

You're very welcome Joey. The one major issue with VV is cuz I'm vaping at a higher voltage the batt drains quicker. I used the 650 for on the go and the 1000 for at home- if I was out for awhile the 650 would drain quickly and the 1000 was too big for on the go. Thus the Spinner buy because of the reasons posted.
I would love to find a small yet powerful mod that isn't a bottom feeder as I don't really trust that set up, I would have to see it in person before investing.
I have 2 friends that own the Reo and they LOVE them- very reliable and they have quite a loyal following.
I am waiting on a Stump from Ecigworkshop that uses a 18350 battery and hope that it will bring back that smoking satisfaction.
A beautiful looking PV, quite small and fires at 3.7 volts. I own a Kgo, Kgo VV, Twist (until Sat. night) and a Megalodon but the Don has a 18650 mah bat, can be broken down to 2 1/2"/ 1300 mah, fires at 3.7, 6 or 6.4 volts by installing diff batteries. It has served me well for the last yr but I would not reco it as a buy. Best cartos for 3.7 volt PVs are the Smok Tech 1.7 single coil cartos BUT ST and Boge are having quality issues so it's hit and miss. They're also known as the Ressurectors.
Here's a written Spinner Review:
