I use a piece of 16 gauge needle through the hole to get right up close to the wick.
I'm still working on this when I'm not too frustrated.
A: It leaks now with the side and fill holes when inverted.
B: I seem to be loosing A LOT of heat to my terminals as the entire body heats up quite a bit.
So.... Working, yes.... Great, no. I always seem to post before I have discovered problems
It does produce a good amount of vapor in the configuration that I last posted on. Perhaps your overall luck will be better.
A. For the leaking issues, this happens when you have larger fill holes trying to get wicking increased by trying to release tank vaccum in this manner.
What I do is make sure the wick is thin walled so it acts like a straw to alleviate the vaccum. You can achieve this easily and increase the effectiveness by making sure that the wick's hole is completely unobstructed and that the bottom hole is cut at an angle to maximize the area of the hole in the wick and most importantly do not have the bottom or top of the wick obstructed in any way so that pressure can quickly and easily equalize.
If you use a smaller inlet hole (1 - 1.2mm) and block the fill hole, you create a vaccum in the vapor chamber that will pull juice up the straw so you are not relying solely on wicking to get enough juice to the coil. You have to find the balance point between creating enough suction and getting a mouthful of juice while getting enough airflow to keep the juice from burning on the wick, but it can be done without nearly as much fuss as it sounds like.
B. With parts heating up like that, your heat loss is not necessarily due to the terminals. You have a resistance buildup somewhere that is causing this. Clean all of your connection points and this should go away.
