I thought I had it all figured out. :( I did some reviews and Green Smoke kept popping up as the top e-cigarettes. My co-working and I were both going to purchase the Green Smoke starter kit, but because of the price I decided to do a little more research and this is how I got here to ECF. I found that some of the ECF members that started with Green Smoke moved to something different. I am hoping you guys can point me in a good direction.

I currently smoke about 1 pack of analog Newport menthols every 2 days. I know it can be a matter of person preference when it comes to all the choices, but what is the most recommended e-cigarette? I am hoping for something that looks like a cigarette and has a glowing LED on the end to simulate a burning cherry, but having a good quality product is most important. I am am going to make my purchase base on you guys suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If what is most important, as you stated, is performance, then forget green smoke or anything the size of a cigarette. The vast majority on ECF started out with cigarette sized PV's (personal vaporizers), discovered their performance was pretty bad and moved to better and slightly larger devices. They also discovered that manual batteries with the small button provided better warmth and vapor and much less chance of breaking down than auto batteries that can get liquid in the battery compartment.

If looks is the main criteria, then an M402 auto PV with a battery that maybe lasts a half hour before needed to be recharged is the one. If the "inhaled feel" of smoking is more important, then you will need a better battery device (manual) that provides warmer vapor. I would also strongly suggest starting with 24mg nicotine strength eliquid and then adjusting up or down as you get use to vaping. A couple of good "beginner" PV's would be the RIVA 510 or 901 from Liberty Flights or the e-power from MadVapes. nhaler.com also has a very large selection of many different models.

You'll never have it all figured out. This industry is growing leaps and bounds, new things coming out all the time, enjoy the ride. If you're looking for a slim type ecig as said above the Volt is getting excellent feedback and is priced reasonably. Battery life is improved for that size with it and the cartos are performing excellent. Should be a great starter PV in that size.

You may not care for the liquid that comes in the pre-filled cartos, I never have found a pre-filled juice I like but if that's the case they also offer blank cartos that can be filled with the juice of your choice.

I just purchased this kit for my nephew. It has two batteries (one auto, one manual) and a pcc.

The reason it's on sale is because the factory misspelled 'smoke' on the pcc

It's your basic 510 mini. You get a good vape but batteries don't last very long. I wouldn't spend much more than this on a cig-look alike kit because you'll probably get tired of charging batteries and get something bigger. If you upgrade to something with a bigger battery like an ego, parts will be interchangeable.

It's a good, fairly inexpensive way to get started to see if you like vaping. I'd get some juice samplers (I hear they have good juice) and a couple extra batteries. Also get a box of boge 510 cartomizers.

Don't know anything about that Tuxedo kit posted above but I would strongly recommend getting something with a bigger battery. I started with a standard 510 kit and within a week was tired of changing batts every hour and a half or so. I love my riva no light at the end just on the button and it is bigger then a standard cig more like a cigar but I've been using my riva battery for almost 8 hours today and it's still going strong maybe falling off a little and could use a charge. Anyways good luck with your decision.

I agree with you and wv3win. The ego was my first pv and still use it. But if a person wants to start with something small, I'd get an inexpensive 510 or a KR808 from one of the registered suppliers. Get some great juice you'll probably be hooked on vaping.

a manual 510 with a personal charging case is just fine usually. just get some juice (freedomsmokeusa is a good choice) and "direct drip" onto the atomizer. the pcc is easy to carry in your pocket, feels almost like a pack of smokes, and will keep you charged for the day. that ended up being my most convenient choice, plus i don't have to feel weird smoking the bigger battery models around people at work.

finding the right nicotine level for your liquid is important. i had to vape 36mg to finally quit cigs. some people can smoke much less mg count. trial and error for that.

Maybe later you'll want to step it up to higher voltage if you like a strong throat hit and more vapor. I went up to the Joye ego for a while with a low resistance atomizer and i liked that, but lately i've settled down and back to just my 510. a nice stainless steel battery, atty and drip tip with a blue led not only looks cool, but works consistently great. :)

can't go wrong with a joye 510 !

You mentioned you got tired of changing batteries in the "standard 510 kit". Is that a different kit than the Riva 510 kit at Liberty Flights?

I got a Joye 510, black, with a blue led. At first, I thought of one that looks like a analog, but have decided that to cut down on people asking me questions or getting upset in thinking I was smoking tobacco, I went with the blue tip. I like the black because it looks 'stealthy.' Yeah, I know....dumb, plus you can misplace it and hunt all over the place looking for it, yet I still use it. I love e-toking in the doctor's exam room right in front of the doctor. I've e-toked in the waiting room.....no reaction.....I thought that's rather cool. I e-toke at the movies, restaurants, dentist office and exam room.....I have a ball with it. IT'S SO NICE NOT TO BE CONSIDERED THE LEPER ANYMORE!!!!!!

510 just designated the connector type which is probably the most popular and has the most compatibility without using an adapter.

A standard 510 battery is a slim style, a Riva battery is thicker in diameter....sometimes referred to as a fat battery, more cigar shaped. They both use the same connector, the Riva will last you MUCH longer in between charges though due to it's size.

So since this will be my first time vaping, I think I will start with the Joye 510 - Standard bundle at Liberty Flights.

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye 510

$44.99
2 Rechargeable Batteries (manual activiation)
2 x Atomizer
1 x Battery Charger
1 x Power Cord
1 x User Guide
5 x Tobacco Carts

This appears to be a good deal considering I was going to pay $139.00 for Green Smoke's strter kit.

I think you will quickly regret the joye 510 kit... I think thats a 180 mah battery.... I started vaping a week and a half ago with a 180mah 510 kit and I am waiting for my new Riva 510 to arive hopefully tommorrow from LF. at LF there is a button that you can push at the top of the page to get 20% off ... I paid 35ish for my new Riva 510... has 2 750mah batteries

I wrote this in another post, but think it might help you.

Due to the good advice found here, i bought a Riva last night from Liberty Flights. The small kit was 32.50 out the door. That included shipping.

A 510 is a battery. It comes in many types and sizes now- Regular and Mega(longer battery) are interchangeable with regular sized cartomizers(carto's). A regular carto is 3.0 Ohm's.
The Riva and Ego use the same size cartos as the 510 battery. BUT the cartos also come in a more powerful size not recommended for the regular 510 battery. THATS the Low Resistance(LR) they are referring to. IT is typically around 2.0 Oam's. You CAN use LR on a regular battery but its not recommended- it uses twice the battery power, if not more.

If you want the cigarette sized PV for in public, get a spare 510 mega battery and a few 3.0 cartos for it. It will save you shipping later. They can be found for around $8-12.

I was a 3 PAD smoker when I quit. After cigars, I forgot about TH, but heavy flavor was needed. One of the juice suppliers actually makes a "red" tobacco flavor. I dont know how good it is, but someone here can prolly tell you. To save yourself time and money, you may want to get 36mg nicotine first, and also get a small bottle of "0" nicotine to go with it. As you use the juice, you can add the 0 nic to bring it down to where you need it.
There are 3 options for delivery of nicotine into the battery: Cartomizers, Atomizers combined with cartridges, or dripping.

Cartomizers can be different ways. You can buy them prefilled with the flavor of your choice. You can either buy and add your own juice if you chose(cheaper method), or throw them away and use a new one each time it runs out. You can also buy them "blank" AKA empty and fill them with the juice yourself. Filling cartos is easy, so dont pass this one up if you envision otherwise.

Atomizer with cartridge(atty's and cart's)- The atty is the warming unit that changes the liquid into a vapor. It connects the battery to the cart. The cart holds the liquid the same was as the carto, same options.

Dripping involves putting a few drops of your juice directly on the atty.

Riva and Ego use interchangeable parts. Charger can be used on either. So if you get one and want to try the other, you could always buy a used battery from the classifieds. You would not need a whole new kit.

If you go with a RIva or Ego, I suggest starting with the 2 batteries, and getting a spare for back or to keep at work or in the car. Batteries can fail at any time, or be lost/damaged. Dont put yourself in a position to justify going back to smoking...

Hope this helps. My $.02.

It's basically the same thing. I have a Joye 510 as well and except for the looks it's pretty much the same. 510, KR808 batteries are small and don't last as long as the larger battery pvs.
