The error you received is because you tried entering more than 3 tags when creating a Thread.
When you create a Thread it can only have 3 tags.
example:
The tags for the above thread are "diy", "mixing" and "more".
When you create a thread scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a field for Tags. That's where your 3 tags go.

Got it, thanks. I realise now that tags are at the bottom, with an 'x' next to them. I deleted all the tags and the post submitted just fine.
ECF has always had a problem with their tagging system and it makes less than zero sense lol.
Just make sure whenever you create a new thread to remove all tags in the tag area. The system automatically puts tags in judging from words in your post so you just have to remove them. No use in changing the tags or trying to figure it out, just make sure the tags field is empty.
It's just the way it is. But they really should fix it or stop the auto-creation of tags. The last thing this forum needs is to give newcomers a reason to leave due to silly errors that make no sense to them.
I have noticed that this new system stuffs the tags automatically without you doing any.
