You clowns keep yuking it up and defiantly ignoring No Smoking areas and we, like the cigarette smokers, will be banned and taxed into oblivion. Anti-smoking control zealots would love nothing more than to shut us down entirely! Politicians would love nothing more than to tax us to death. Every time you flaunt the rules with lame excuses you do the vaping community a dis-service!

I'm pretty new to vaping, but so far I vape everywhere. I haven't been told that I can't vape somewhere yet, and I haven't been asked to stop. In fact, most people are really interested in my Joyetech Ecab. They think it's wonderful that I'm giving up cigarettes and they are really interested in the various flavors I have gotten.

If I was ever asked to stop, or told I could not vape somewhere, I would apologize and stop immediately. I would also take advantage of the situation to explain vaping to the parties involved...I'd make sure they understand that what they see me exhaling is primarily water vapor. I'd also explain that vaping does not produce "second hand smoke" (or any smoke for that matter) because it does not contain any tobacco and nothing is burning. I firmly believe that the more people who come to understand that vaping is a safer and healthier alternative for people who would otherwise be smoking analogs, the better off we will all be in the long term.

Just because you can use your ecig doesn't mean you should.

If you can't smoke at a certain place, don't vape. Most people don't know what e-cigs are and will think you're smoking. Your "I can vape when I want" attitude is not helping vaping.

Edit: The "I can explain what it is" attitude means nothing. For every person that asks what you're doing there are probably 20+ that assume you're smoking.

FWIW, I have never had some random person ask me about vaping outside of party situations. I vape freely while I'm out as well as long as smoking is allowed where I am.

For those that vape in stores, I just don't get it. Is it really that hard to go 20-30 minutes without vaping?

Not to mention that panic that would ensue if someone in an elevator, a store, or a movie theater thought they saw smoke.

I didn't realize that so many people don't vape in public. I vape pretty much anywhere I'm at... retail stores, restaurants, school, etc. Sometimes I will try to hide it, but only because I get sick of explaining to people all day long what it is, how much it costs, where I got it, etc. I've rarely been asked to stop, but even when I have it's because they were under the impression that it was smoke. Once I explained that it was an E cigarette they were fine with it.

This topic made me laugh.. So far, I don't vape very often in public.. but... food shopping stresses me out.. I usually come out of those places wanting to murder people.. but, grocery shopping while vaping, just makes it a whole new experience.. :)

Back in October, I went to Comic Con in NY and wasn't sure what I would find there.. With the insane amount of people that attended, I was surprised to only see one other vaper during the 3 days I attended.. At first I was stealthy about it, but eventually I was doing it out in the open and no one said a word.. I asked the girl I saw vaping if anyone had said anything to her and she said once security saw what it was, they were cool with it..

Just the other night I was vaping at the local mall, I was using my mini smok 350 mah and my dct carto tank concealed in my hand and making sure that I didn't blow out any vapor. I had no problems and no funny looks.

Another funny thing they had a kiosk selling e cigs they charged 20 for 10 ml of juice and 50 for 30 ml. I asked him what brand the juice was and he said propylene glycol. I kind of snickered and thanked him for his time and walked away.

Makes me feel sorry for all the uneducated consumers out there that get sucked in by these kiosks.

There are two schools of thought in regards to vaping where smoking is prohibited. One is to vape away and another is to only vape where smoking is allowed. When I was actually smoking cigs, I went along with all the bans that came along because I knew that cigs were not good for me or others around me. Vaping on the other hand is not harmful to others so I do vape where smoking is prohibited. I am NOT smoking. I will defend vaping to my dying day, which has been extended by the way. :)

I will defend my rights on this in a respectful but firm manner. If someone does not like the way this smells, can I therefor complain about the perfume that is making me nauseous and have them removed from wherever? If I treat vaping as illegal I can expect people to think that vaping is illegal. If I treat vaping as perfectly ok, believe it or not, most will think it is ok. You will run into the ANTZ. No matter what you say it will not change their thinking. Most people are really more intelligent than that.

Just my :2c:

I have done it in Wal Mart and they never say a word to me. I do find it strange that I can't do it at work unless I am in the smoking area. That is horrible because I cant stand the smell of ashtrays now. I usually just duck out the door and do it anyway. It's not like people are going to say anything to me since I am the supervisor in my area. Even smokers agree I should be able to do it inside the building.

I don't vape in public. I'm even careful about vaping in my car. When I first started, one evening I pulled up to Dunkin Donuts drive thru and waited for my latte. I took a quick vape while waiting, and my teen thought it would be funny to yell, "Mother, NO!" just as the guy was walking to the window with my latte. He saw me vaping, got this horrified look on his face, handed me the latte and ran away from the window. LMAO!

Of course just the opposite is most likely the truth. Since Vaping is not smoking, is not illegal and causes nobody any harm, we should not act like second class citizens and lawbreakers by being relagated to the garages and outdoors. As has been mentioned in other threads, if we act like outcasts we will be treated like outcasts.
Since when is it an American stance that we must not draw attention to our Legal activities for fear of them becoming illegal ?
yea that will probably happen anyway, but due more to a little game called "follow the money".

We would be doing the vaping community a dis-service if we take your advise and hide out in the basement !

Where I live you can't vape where you can't smoke (even outside)- which is pretty much everywhere. Don't let that happen in your state.

If this happened in my state I would just not vape in public. Reason being that smoke (ether inside or out) really and I mean really bothers me. And it's not just that it bothers me, it effects me medically. I will get an asthma attack immediately upon coming in contact with smoke. It also makes me very nauseous. I can't help but feel bad from every person that I ever made feel that way when I smoked.

It is not hard not to go the 20-30 minutes while in the store for me at all. I always have my pv on me. And if I want, I take a pull. But in California vapeing is more of a known. They have radio commercials about it on every station about every hour or so. I have been asked about mine a lot in public. People are quite curious if "that is one of those electric cigarettes". A lot of the folks (smokers)here think that it's water vapor and are afraid they will get pneumonia if they use one. And I take back not having ANY disappointing vape in public stories. The only rude guy I ever got was a smoker. He was like "it looks like that thing doesn't work for you huh?" Because I was taking a long pull while filling my tank at the gas station. (other then the long pull I still have no idea what gave him that impression) I told them that on the contrary it works great and I haven't had a cig in over a year. Him "Well I tried the stupid things and they don't work." while gesturing to the store. I told him you couldn't get a quality one at a gas station and he was just ignoring me at that point. But such is life, no? I didn't let it bother me. I was having too good a day.

For the most part I think it is acceptable where I live. And I will continue to vape openly, but politely and respectfully. If I ever get told to stop I will do so and apologize. And as long as we conduct ourselves as civilized adults, there is no problem. Really it is the overzealous vapors making huge scenes that ruin it for us.
