By Mechanical mod, I mean I do wanna build my own coils and stuff. & thank you for your input!

Ok, then what you want is an RBA - ReBuildable Atomizer.

There are two types, RTA - Rebuildable Tank Atomizer, and RDA - Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer.

With an RDA you drip some liquid on the coil like maybe 10 to 50 drops, and you can vape for 5 minutes or maybe an hour depending.
With an RTA you have a tank, which might be a few milliliters of liquid, and you rely on wicking to get the liquid to the coil.

The popular RTAs are the Kayfuns.
There are alot of RDAs. An RDA is a very very simple device.
Trident, magma, igo-xxx, stillaire, 3d, omega, origen, ... hundreds of em.

Check out the stingray clone. It has a magnetic switch and floating center pin. The switch takes a bit to set up but the floating center pin is very convenient.

Another vote for the Stingray clone here. I have owned The Sigelei #8, the EHPro Panzer clone, and the Infinite Stingray clone. The stingray is easily the best of that bunch. I bought mine from ebay here.

As for batteries....don't debate. Just get the Sony VTC5's and be done. Buy them from reputable vendors such as fatdaddyvapes, 101vape, illuminationsupply, etc.

Could you explain what sub-ohming is? I haven't really even gotten into anything that detailed quite yet, I'm still fascinated with RiP Trippers and Cloud Chasing. :b

Sub-ohm is when you make the resistance of the atty less than 1.0 ohms. The lower the resistance is the more amps are drawn form your battery at a given voltage.

Here's a great reference to all this stuff: One Stop Reference Shop For New and Experienced Vapers.

Before you buy anything I suggest you read up on batteries, Ohm's law, how and when to use a digital multi meter and anything else relating to mechanical mods in that post. With mech mods you get no built in features to help you. You have to make sure you're not drawing too much power from the battery, stop vaping the battery before the voltage gets too low and that you have no shorts. It's also important not to vape burnt juice and that depends a lot on your atty builds.

For batteries, I recommend Sony VTC4 and VTC5 from a reputable shop and a decent charger.

Have fun with it and vape safe :thumb:

Glad to see at least a few experienced users chime in with a word of caution and sound advice. There are also some noob suggestion in this thread that are flat out dangerous and should be ignored.

    * Never exceed the amp rating of any battery .... NEVER !
There is plenty of information about the safe use of batteries here on ecf, so do yourself a favor and read it.

    * There are plenty of good mechanical mods to choose from, and everyone is going to have their very own favorite. But, that doesn't mean that it will be yours. So it's best to read some reviews and then choose for yourself.
I like the brass Caravela best when used as a pure mechanical, and the combination Nemesis best when used with an Evolv Kick 2. (for what it's worth)

This post was perfectly timed for me. I was asking myself the same question today. I've got my heart set on a Zenesis Sidewinder and I'll keep combing the earth till I find one but for now I was thinking of going with a mech mod clone to use with my AC9 as it's been collecting dust for months now.

Any mech clones I should steer clear of?

    Also...

Any mech clones that you absolutely recommend?

    Cheers guys!

I picked up a 26650 Panzer "clone" from fasttech for 40$... good heavy beast of a mod.... even comes with adaptor tubes for 18650 batteries...
if you are going for 18650 tube size, consider the panzer over the nemi

Whoah! Sounds like a usefull buy.

Wonder if there's any way to use a kick in there...
