I want to make my first twisted coil build. Don't know which gauge's to use.

Hello fellow vapors. I'm getting kinda bored with standard dual coil builds in my tugboat v2 rda. So I was thinking about trying a twisted build. I have a roll of 32g, 30g, 28g, 26g, 24g, and even 22g kanthal. No anarchist wire or nichrome yet.

I'm not sure which ones I should use. I'm kind of hoping to end up around 0.20 ish ohms at the lowest really. I do have a regulated devices BUT I also have a mech mod that I'd like to use this build on so that's why I want to build on the low side. Should I do a dual twisted coil or just a single twisted coil? ... I don't know if my tugboats post holes are actually big enough to run 2 strands of twisted coils through them for a dual. Hm...
Well they did fit the standard dual 22g coils I made.

Any suggestions for which wires to twist together?

I like flavor but I still want to produce some nice cloudage. After installing the coils should I make them spaced or micro coils?

I'll be using some 20pg 80 vg Strawbana from mtbakervapor that I use for dripping. Not the greatest eliquid in the world but it's good.

( I don't have an ohms meter yet but I have a sigelei 75w tc and a ipv3 liVR to check the res on my builds, they seem pretty accurate.)

Just my opinion, but if your going to rebuild, especially experiment, invest in a good ohms meter. Cheap and vital pice of vape gear.
All I use are twisted coils. Great choice! I build .6 single coils with 28 gauge 1.5 diameter seven wraps. Not what you were asking about, but great vape!

I twisted 32 and 28 together one time, made a dual coil....don't remember the exact info, but i think it was 8 wraps around 2 mm rod...came to .3ish ohms I think. flavor was a little better than standard coils, but not by much in my opinion, so I pretty much stick to standard now.

So I went ahead and used a long strand of 24 gauge, folded it in half, twisted it.

Comes out to 0.33. I kinda wanted to go a bit lower for my mech but I did get it to glow from the inside out.

On this pic it looks like the wrap on the left is a little loose compared to the rest of the coil.

I still got some more of that twisted 24. I'm going to see if I can make this next coil real tight to see if the res changes.

cut a long strange of the 24g, folded it in half, manually twisted the twisted the two loose ends together, pinched them with a pair of pliers. Put the other end around a allen key wrench that was in the jaws of my drill and began twisting. My drill has one speed, fast lol. Ended up going till it snapped but the twists didn't come loose so I'm happy.

So I remade a coil as tight as I could and it comes out to 0.31 and it's glowing good, from the inside to the outside..... Don't know how well it will work on a mech though. Fully charged battery will be comparable to 56.9 watts and 13.55 amps. I guess it's not too bad I'm going to go ahead and wick it up and see how she vapes.

Came out to 0.26 This build is pretty mean haha. Drinks through juice but the flavor is killer. I tried my best to get them center around that center post but they drifted off a bit so the airflow isn't %100 on the coils but it's close enough. I love this build. It pops a lot. Should I make the wick thicker or thinner to reduce the popping? Or is that pretty normal with twisted coil builds?

Twisted wire will give you a little better flavor, but if you are really looking to get more clouds/vapor build parallel coils. not much beats those IMO when it comes to cloud chasing.

well I'd start with duplicating your favotie build , just using twisted wires.... In this case the wires to be twisted will be 3-4 steps thinner in gauge.. 29awg - approx 2x32awg and so on. Use the Steamengine to calculate.
